Don't get swayed into buying cheaper ones on the market, they are a false economy, and can fail or fry your system. Choose modular type as they are easier to install and improve airflow

Hey guys, i just used a passmark software to determine my 1gb 6950 3d benchmark score after doing a driver update, and it ended up getting a score in the 4000s which is above all the cards listed on their site including the 580. My card isnt even overclocked and from my understanding the gtx 580 should be the best card on the market, do you reckon these figures are correct??

I have asked this before but no real answer I play command & conquer 3 and it's not real demanding but I am planning to get one 30 inch 2560x1600 monitor and I need to know if a 580 1.5gb is ok or 3gb. The frames drop when play against 7 teams so with so many units at 2560x1600 which 580 should I get or would even a 6970 work I got a 1000 watt PSU so croos or SLI isn't a problem but for 1 580 3gb, for 70 bucks more I could get 2 6970 or should I go 1 580 now and SLI later

@MrBatman2383 That's overkill. For that resolution, 1.5 GB is more than enough. Save a lot of money and get a GTS 450 or a GTX 460, maybe even a GTX 560 (ti is optional), or a GTX 550 ti, Also for those cards, get a 2 GB one for that resolution.

@HoLLYWOOD681 hey Hollywood68 I had already got my build bought when your reply came I ended up with a 6970 for 290 $ 2600k@ 4.7gh 16 gigs of 1600 ram but believe i or not @ 1920x1080 against 7 plus me @ 2AA Command & conquer 3 still drops to 12 fps until 2 or more teams or down I can only guess whats going to happen when I get my 2560x1600 monitor the gpu only gets to 70% at max stays mostly at 55 so I don't know what to do any send it back and get a 580 or what any advice any1

@MrBatman2383 The AMD Radeon 6970 is a fantastic card. I don't know why you are getting such low FPS. I've never seen such an amazing card fail so much. Maybe it's not your GPU. Maybe something else in you system is not running smoothly. There is no bottleneck. I think that is very unlikely though. Maybe your internet is too slow. Maybe your PSU sucks. Give me the rest of the specs in your system.

Corsair GT 180gb SSD. Cooler master pro 1000 watt psu and a HAF X nothing seems to be malfunctioning or hot all temps in the 30c or lower my 3dmark11 and Heaven DX11 Benchmark is better than others I've seen on here with similar setups, It just doesn't make any sense I'm stumped lol

The only thing I can safely assume is it's your internet since you said that it doesn't start getting better after seven teammates dropped out, so that's the only thing I have to assume. @HoLLYWOOD681 actually I meant to tell u that it's not an online skirmish its me vs the AI also I talk to XFX tonight and he told me that since this game only uses 1 or 2 cores the AI with so many units maybe to much the cpu to take or theirs no update since 08 it cant use the power of the cpu effectively I also talk to Evga said he don't think theirs no bottleneck he said to try maybe xp mode or older card drivers since its an older game havent got to test it see whos right lol

@MrBatman2383 That was my next guess. Drivers. If you really like that game, you might want to switch back and forth between drivers (which is a pain in the ass) I highly doubt that it's your processor, but you never told me your processor. Either way, this shouldn't happen.

Seriuosly, do you really need this. Im using one gtx 560 and just dreaming about one gtx580... And there is two!!!! I think thats an overkill. Only thing you need to do is to lower video settings. Gtx 560 will run everything at high (but not highest ) settings at 60 fps...

@MrErniny It's a general rule of Graphics cards: Two cards of A will be more powerful than one card of A plus one. They're almost always more expensive though, and it cuts you off from eventually buying a second A plus one card in the future. Buy whichever you can afford based on how or when you plan to upgrade.

Hey.. I just built a new comp - I7 2600k oc'd 4.5ghz (stable), 8gb Gskill ddr3, GTX 580... I just got this game and I think I should be getting higher fps. I'm averaging around 30-40. Highest settings including 4xMSAA and AF16x. Does this fps sound about right or should I be getting more?
