for him to adjust downward to the simpliest rock stuff. He had a certain grove and that was that. (Just shows how uniquely wired we all are as individuals).
I've seen Dick Cully do a tribute solo that was absolutely sensational. This guy is on the right track with his grip and whatnot. Too many guys are thinking the Chapin/Gruber Moeller thing will make them sound like Buddy. I don't think I've ever seen Buddy employ the Chapin/Gruber thing.
One thing is to use moeller to give rebound enough foe multplie stroke rolls, ANOTHER is to play single strokes dynamically changing and being manipulated individually - you cannot do quite like that using multiple rebounce of the stick, but rather in charge of EACH stick stroke. Total controle - something these nice copy-cats have not. Sadly... :/
I'm still waiting to see someone reproducing an ENTIRE classic Buddy Rich solo. I've lost how many times I've seen kids saying "wow! This guy plays like Buddy Rich!" - I just laugh my ass off. They have no idea at all. A couple of licks won't save them from being crappy copy-cats.
Sounds like buddy rich having a bad day. Which is already a great achievement. Congratulations, great skill/sound.

Buddy could do it all, except it seemed tricky

I hear ya man....I hear ya. Sometimes it sounds like I'm just stumbling around not SAYING anything. Makes me cringe when I listen to it at times.
