  • "30 Stories HIgh." That's actually not very helpful. I researched how tall a "story" is. There is no set height on it. It's like a hosue of cards: it can be 30 stories high but each story is only the height of a single playing card. I mean, a normal house in the United States can be three stories high but it still isn't as tall as the second story in the Sears Tower.

  • @MrWhitman A story is generally considered to be 10 feet.

  • I've got to say, some of those monsters could make a pretty good Toho Kaiju if well done. Axor its pretty awesome looking.

  • Phoenix is a cheap knockoff of Rodan smh

  • Everyone thinks that, but its a radically different character. The only similarity is that its a bird. I think it was more likely modeled, at least physically, on the similar looking bird creature on Hanna Barbera's The Herculoids. The producer have said that they actually did not model monsters on Toho's and tried to be as original as they could. The creatures designs were based on the needs of the script. Though Dark Horse Comics has admitted to creating "surrogate" monsters modeled on Toho.

  • @drbotanus tell me how many of these monster grabs and trys to abducted or eate Pete I know the seaweed monster did but did any other monster like Breeder or any others?

  • @drbotanus unfortuantely, it would have been more better if they try to use Rodan and other Godzilla monster's likeness especially since they are using Godzilla

  • @KillerKrump2000 They could not affort to pay for the rights to use other Tho characters like Rodan & Mothra so they had to try and make monsters that were as different as possible. I actually like the monsters from the series. It would have been tedious if they kept having Rodan etc. all the time.

  • @drbotanus damn lol your right, this was made in the 70s so it was almost impossible to purchase more TOHO monsters

  • This was horrible

  • @chiefbegay What's you beef?

  • whereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee can i find all these episodies???????????????

  • @yerald86 The first half of the series was put out on DVD about ten years ago. You can get bootlegs or bit torrent downloads of the series. It played on NBC from 1978-81. It played on TNT and Cartoon Network in the 90s and more recently on Boomerang. Alternate versions with different sound effects have started popping up on line under the title Godzilla: Voyage Chronicles. It was originally just called Godzilla, and later known as Godzilla, the Original Animated Series.

  • @drbotanus

u still didnt tell me where i can either buy or watch those episodies , I remember that i saw some episodies but i dont remember when

  • @yerald86 I didn't make the freekin thing!! You can find used DVD's on Ebay or Amazon.cm. I got the DVDs when they came out. The rest of the series I recorded from from TNT and Cartoon Network. One episode i had to download from here on Youtube. If you look around on here you will find some whole episodes (in segments) posted. Other than that you are on your own.

  • @yerald86 hulu has the whole first season.

You can order the dvd's they're still recent enough. There's three of them with a a total 13 episodes.

If you'd just search "Godzilla Hanna Barbera" on google I guarantee you'll find them.

  • @drbotanus as opposed to all the other animated series.

Voyage Chronicles is used to specify the japanese version, which fixed Godzilla's roar, and, according to one rumor I heard, fixed Godzilla's color too.

Have you seen that somewhere? Because the intro to this video sounds like the theme song with Godzilla's roar... I've been looking for it forever, so share the wealth if you know something.

Which reminds me: this video is amazing, and you're awesome for making it.

  • I am disappointed by the lack of AXOR

  • @KingTacho Axor came much later in the series. I have not been able to complete the second half of this list because my computer is crapping out.

  • @KingTacho It's first season monsters, Axor is in the second season.

You're probably just saying that because of Matt Frank's neo thing aren't you? You know, Axor ain't got shit on the Power Dragon. That's a fact. That motherfucker lives in a city IN THE CLOUDS.

Oh, you just got 1970's'd in the FACE, son.

  • EPIC FUCKING WIN

  • @Dragmack

    Which part?

  • 0:05 Rodan's evil cousin 0:40 Baragon's evil cousin 1:14 King Caesar's evil cousins 1:44 Gigan before becoming a cyborg 2:09 Polar opposite of Hedorah 2:46 Megalon minus drills 3:17 Mechagodzilla 3:37 Moguera prototype 4:09 Non-insect Megalon 4:16 Retarded Gamera 4:48 Oh shit what's he doing here 5:13 King Caesar's Greek cousin 5:53 Evil ghostly Mothra 6:18 The fucking Yeti 6:33 and 7:03 Non-mutated dinosaurs? In MY Godzilla?
  • @GodzillaCO Dagahla (aka Dagarla) from Rebirth of of Mothra 2 is the polar opposite of Hedorah

  • @GodzillaCO the polar opposite of hedorah looks more like biolantee

  • I was happy when I found the Chimera episode it had been almost years since I had seen it.

  • @Redskins1570 where u find it

  • Comment removed

  • There's one downside that I've seen so far about Hulu's uploads of this series; they cut off the first episode in the midst of the action and went straight to episode 2! oO

  • 3:56 alien cyclops? LOL its a GIANT ENEMY CRAB! Quick Godzilla, attack its weak point for massive damage! 4:49 . I could have sworn i've seen that Minotaur in an episode of Scooby Doo. Turned out to be a man in a costume.

  • @Xamtaro

Giant Enemy Crab? What show did you watch.

Its an Alien (they say so in the episode) and its a Cyclops (One single eyes) It is also a biped. Ever seen a bipedal crab?

  • @drbotanus its got crab pincers! a MUTANT giant enemy crab!

  • the effects were great, and I loved the Energy Beast's face @ 3: 11. YAY!! XD

  • Man the chimera episode i searched for my whole life basically lol i saw it at my grandmas when i was 3 for like 10 years I just had a basic memory of a cage with a giant lion in it and godzilla fought it and then my uncle got me all the godzilla episodes and i found the chimera i was so happy. Great video

  • they ain't got shit on Gigan.

  • 3:10 look at the creatures face ..lmao ...its like ...HOLY SHIT!!!

  • i alwaysed liked this it got me into the original japanese gojira so i always apprecate anything hanna barbara came out with ..and interms of enimes its pretty creative

  • Those enemies were good but I wish they had Godzilla enemies like King Ghidorah and Gigan.

  • I liked this Godzilla theme..but the Godzooky part @#$%ing ruined it.

  • 3:13 OMG HES HAPPY

  • @edsanity007

    The Alien Energy Beast

    I always thought so.

  • @drbotanus well yeah back then there was energy crisis but now he has much more choices XD wind power solar thermal bio its a buffet

  • The Time Dragon and the Megavolts should battle against Godzilla from Toho!

This would be a great battle!

  • The breeder beast was the most memorable from my point of view.

  • @imperialflagship

I was certainly the most original and potentially deadly.

  • Very informative.

  • I think that the Eartheater could easily be an Ultraman monster. All of the Ultarmonsters had a "theme" thattiied to the plot of each episode. This show was a bit like that also.

  • ´´cool´´´its an good vid i like it ;) 5*

  • Thanks

  • In all honesty, the show is quite silly, but I do find it very enjoyable to watch, mostly from a nostalgia point of view. Quite frankly, if Godzilla's roar hadn't been a very obvious voice-over, I probably would have liked it even more. Never liked Godzooky, though...

Oh, and the video was well made. I liked the little effects you threw in here and there.

  • Godzooky was just a substitute for Minya. I never liked the Ted Cassidy roars, either. But I still think the spirit of the show is true to the seventies Godzilla movies. Godzilla vs Megalon, Godzilla vs. Gigan and the two Mechagodzilla movies were in theatres around this time. And the whole sailing from island to island format of the show is reminiscent

to Godzilla vs. The Sea monster, Son of Godzilla & Godzill's Revenge as well as Yog and Matango.

  • One other thing. Which is sillier? This TV show or Zone Fighter? Or Godzilla vs. Gigan.

  • at least zone fighter and godzilla vs gigan weren't as cheesy as this. if you ask me, any godzilla media not made in japan or by toho isn't real godzilla

  • Well, I was never really into Zone Fighter or Ultraman or any of those kinds of shows. I dunno, all the monsters from both shows look less than stellar than a lot of the ones from the main Godzilla movies. A lot of them seem very rushed in design.

As for Godzilla vs. Gigan, I dunno, I always liked that movie as a kid, so it is kinda special to me.

  • I think that it is pretty hard for you to appreciate Ultraman or Johnny Sokko or that sort of show because you did not grow up with it: and it would be ridiculous and unfair of me to expect you to. I watched Ultraman every day at 3:30 and I would run home from school to see it. Things like that become a part of you. The TV landscape was so radically different from the one you grew up with. I wish you could have been there. It was great.

  • That's probably the case. I grew up during the 90s, so I was far too busy watching Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, and other stuff featured on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.

  • When Rugrats & Rocko started, TV was still similar to how I grew up. (I loved those shows by the way) Today its taboo to show anything black & white. Most reruns were black & white. No infomercials. You had nothing but shows & movies all night long. There was no stupid logo in the lower corner of the screen. But I digress.

The reason this show was popular was because you could get your weekly Godzilla fix. With no VCRs, waited for a G movie to air at 2 in the morning every few months.

  • I'd like to reiterate my feelings about this show.

I feel that, for a saturday morning TV cartoon, it is pretty true to spirit of Godzilla.

The animation is far superior to the other cartoons that were on at the time and it was an expensive show to produce. Remember that Godzilla was rarely depicted accurately

in the US at the time. Think about the Mattel Godzilla Toy or the posters for Godzilla vs.

the thing or Destroy All Monsters. The 1998 film evolved from all of this.

  • At the time, I was unhappy that the series never utilized any of the monsters from the movies. Now, I have all the movies on DVD/VHS/LD and I can see them whenever I want. And now i enjoy the TV monsters too. The more monsters, the better.

Some of the TV monsters could easily fit into the Toho mold. The Cyclops and Eartheater and Watchuka and Chimera could easily be portrayed by men in suits.

  • this show was a disgrace. i hated it

  • I'm so sorry you feel that way. I wish you could enjoy it like I did. I am sorry. I went through a period of snobbery myself, when I only accepted a serious Godzilla. I grew out of my bad attitude.

I think that it was probably as close as you could get, considering the limits of TV animation at the time.

Try to imagine what some of these monsters may have looked like, had Toho built them. And remember that the original Movie series had been over for four years.

  • awesome :)

  • I had to fudge on some of the statistics. I got most of them from Wiki zilla, however I did change some of the numbers when i firmly disagreed with them because they did no make sense.

Example: They listed the height of the Cyclops as "90 meters". Since Godzilla was only 50-55

meters tall at the time, this statistic is impossible.
