  • This is anything but traditional is. Only the music is purely traditional and Cypriot music and not Turkish

  • This music is Greek and is called "Sousta" which means "metal spring". It is played with Lyre or Violin, Lute and Mandolin. It's originated from the ancient dance "Pyrrhichios" and is mainly danced in Cyprus and Crete but is also well-known in the rest of Greece and generally in the Balkans.

    Peace in our country!

  • awesome 5 stars

  • omg i might sound biased but only CYPRIOT FOLKLORE is nice & entertaining in my eyes. theres just something so unique about cypriot dance and music!

  • Thanks Kibrisli111, I thought it might be the same..;-)

  • turkish cypriots also call this dance susta, in turkish this means spring:D

  • @kibrisli111 : exactly Susta means metal spring in Greek. :)

  • That was really good! Well done! I have a question though, Greek Cypriots call this dance 'Sousta' I was wandering what the Turkish Cypriot name for it is?

  • We are all Cypriots, Turks & Greeks, Peace on the Island I say!

  • Were you performing as well? Pls appload some "sickle" dancing videos if you have any...cheerzz

  • This is a Cypriot dance, period. Who told u it was only for Turkish Cypriots?

  • Nobody suggested it was just for Turkish Cypriots. Of course its a dance native to Cyprus and one that us cypriots (greeks and turks) are extremely proud of). The only reason it is named as such is beacause the dancers were turkish cypriot, and is traditional of the village of Kaleburnu/Gallinoporni. Its a dance, not the cyprus problem!

  • Its not a problem. I appologise for over reacting, its just i hear so much crap in youtube all the time i became really sensitive. Your post is just fine, thanks for it as well

  • It's exactly the same for us mate. We feel the same with some of the Greek responses on youtube. May peace soon reign between the Turks and Greeks of Cyprus... :D

  • Theres been peace since 1974. There has been no wars or massacres since this time. Let our two states learn that peace between neighbours is possible, without having to live in each others pockets.

  • @MuminTurk : There is peace only between you! Not between all Cypriots! This is called DICHOTOMY!!! We want our country back! We want to create a united and independent country with NO foreign armies or settlers. A peaceful democratic country only for Cypriots(Greeks, Turkish, Armenians, Maronites... etc.)

  • Actually neither of these dances are Cypriot in origin.

The Sousta originates from Crete, and the Arabaci from Romania...

  • very nice dance
