  • Great song and singer. The main song that brings back treasured memories of courting and marrying my only and much loved wife of 32 years, as of this year.

  • Gary my friend, I know your up high and free from pain and sailing with all the angels and this was your song

  • I love this song is very relaxing and so peaceful. Beautiful job Christopher Cross. Thank you and God Bless You.

  • sailing ,takes me away to where i'm going are the words jack ass

  • I now find it remarkable that the summer when this song came out, I night sailed for the first, and only time in my life. I was young, free, and happy, and this song just seemed to capture that serene, and warm summer for me so that I can now relive that feeling every time I hear this song. I am grateful that this music can bring it all back for me some how.

  • Beautiful. Just purely good music.

  • Thank you Chris, with this song, my soul feels free. Temporary relief from all the stress everyday. I also want to go sailing now.

  • "Sailing" is a number-one single, released in July 1980, written and performed by Christopher Cross and appeared on his 1979 eponymous debut album. The song was a phenomenal success, winning Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Arrangement of the Year, and helping Cross win the Best New Artist award. VH1 named this the greatest "softsational soft rock" music song of all time.

Chasing the whales, sailing the blue Find me a captain and sign me a crew. Captain and crew, captain and crew, Take me, oh take me to anywhere new. " Shel Silverstein

  • This song make me think of my happy childhood. That was the only time in my life I was ever really happy. I'd do anything to have those days back. I'm 39 now and don't see myself living much longer because of my sadness. A Beautiful Song.

  • @ct197139 .THATS DEEP REAL DEEP..TEARS

  • @ct197139 i hope ur sadness goes away and i identify with your comment... this song gave me a few minutes of happy too!

  • @ct197139 at 39 everybody's life sucks. your sadness is natural. you're making the transition from youth to middle age and life may lack meaning now. i promise you my friend, the best is yet to come. i'll tell you a truth: you like the video because you're a spiritual person. you will know happiness one day because the spirit will begin to lead you as you learn to trust yourself and not in things outside of you. be exceedingly blessed my friend...

  • @babeCZar

God bless you. I felt everything you said.

  • @babeCZar thank you for saying that. Needed to read that

  • @ct197139

I am now 44 looking at 45 in a few months and I too found myself here somehow reflecting on the memories of what seemed like such a blessed time where the innocence of childhood was so sweet and the turbulence of adolescence and the feelings associated, when it seemed like our world was a bit more serene. I believe that I have been suffering from clinical depression for many years now despite no formal diagnosis from a doctor but have in gene pool from both parents.

  • @ct197139 I have been actively involved with music composition for many years and have discovered that to combat depression I have this passion for music that when exposed to certain forms of music it inspires and uplifts me in ways that no medication could ever do and the result is a natural reduction in stress and anxiety as well as more control over inward sadness which in turn helps me to find other things around me that can produce a milder form of happiness but it still requires action...

  • @ct197139 It seems to me that by your posting, you may also positively affected by good music which translates in to, you have the power within your reach to turn around the feelings you're having right now to produce inner happiness and peace of mind through the daily exercise or practice of placing your focus on the good in your life and not the bad. I shall pray that the music will help you as it has for me even though I know that it is not the same for all.

  • @ct197139 By the way, did you notice that there are people that you have never even met before in your life that actually care about how you are feeling right now, this is something to take note of in the here and now. Take care.

  • That's 4.14 of my life I'll never get back. Bastard.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • This song is like a spiritual food where we tend to listen to it again n again.

Also very inspiring n relieving n the lyric itself is like magic.

Just to quote a line of the lyric, "the canvas can do magic", and l think this song similarly can also do the same.
