my 12bg pirates of the Caribbean bluray 1080p video converts down to 998 mb at 80% compression

95% compression i get 1.8 gb

as for it being trouble some,

i agreed but, i weigh those pros and cons of filesizes and quanity, i have a video library of over 600 bluray movies, i know about trouble some encoding!

however, when converting properly, i can get 32 hd movies on a 32g sd card

that are beautiful looking plus the space of the onboard free

the only video problems im reading about are streaming media, not media thats stored on the pad itself or the sdhc slot!

do you mind to telling us if the video is stored on the machine memory or the sdhc memory?

also what is the resolution of the video, the container, compression format used, file size please

i believe that if the video is a x264 compression with mpeg4 container even the stock player will do just fine@ 1280x544 with a 4 gig video

@ryanrrx O, Don't get me wrong, the Video plays perfectly fine, butterly smooth in 1080P with MPEG4 container. But it doesn't quite support high profile videos at the moment. Your method will work, its just kinda troublesome to convert all the videos files. thanks for the info

I sad to hear it's lagging you, I have the aluratek home cinema, it's play great 1280x540 zero stuttering, I down converted the videos myself with x264 mpeg4 container!

I feel part of the problem is with full 1920x1080 and the memory card maybe you need v10 sdhc card? The transfer is faster!

My transformer will be here Friday for me to confirm my downscale method works as well

@Airsmoke99 no, you need internet connection, you c preset you destination at home and then leave the house, that'll work. Otherwise you'll need some type of offline GPS app since the map data not stored on the tab

Is there expandable flash memory? cuz then I'd get the 16gb and then buy a cheap 32gb card to add in. if not I'd make due. the keyboard dock is a must as well

@FDBarrY This runs Honeycomb (3.0/3.1), the Galaxy Tab only runs froyo (android 2.2). Those apps are only available for honeycomb

Anyone reading this please! don't buy an ipad, they are such a waste of money compared to this.... and yes there are third party free apps(media players) that play .mkv's and other hd formats.... and very well i might add. ipad plays very limited formats and itunes cant even convert alot of formats so the ipad could play it. @Foretoldfate489 windows wont run on ARM at the moment only x86 chip architecture, windows 8 will add support for it but you cannot dual boot honeycomb and windows on this...only android 1.6 was able to run on x8s chipset after that they phased it out

It's not an Ipad. It's an Android tablet. Ipad is a different operating system. Android different manufactureres. Asus, Samsung, Toshiba,... Ipad is only from Apple. Currently this Asus transformer is the best Android tablet on the market. I'm waiting untill Asus comes with a 3G version of it.

i was wondering, does the regular SD slot on the keyboard attachment work as external memory like the microSD? i could see that causeing some problems as far as disconnecting from the whole keyboard while running software saved on the SD

either way, i love that you can expand the on-board memory yourself without having to pay for extra built in memory like the ipad. a very cost effective and useful addition.

You won't need to convert it, it is compatible with doc and docx files from ms office, ppt pptx, and xls files for that matters , but I'd add that Polaris office is too a relatively early build, I do get force close sometime

@tezclo To use to GPS function you need to have Wifi when you set up your destinations, since thre's no map data stored in the tranasformer, and then it'll navigate you to your destination on cache. the video should give you a pretty good estimate on how long it takes to "locate you, route calculate, and start navigation"

1. yes, USB mouse works perfectly

2. Yes external harddrive and flash memories also works, Although I beileve the max flash memory supported now is 32gb

Just to help with some of the below questions, on a 16gb version with honeycomb installed, you'll have approx 13gig of useable memory.. But keep in mind this has expandable SD card slot.. I was looking at the Acer iconia A500 but now I'm after the Asus!
