The scoops on the rear body panel supply air to the engine bay and the oil cooler, and the air exits through a rectangular opening in the rear between the tail lights. The small side ducts are indeed for cooling the brakes. The roof air scoop rams air into a plexiglass cold air box surrounding the inlet pipes.
So if the radiator is in the front, and that's the intake up top, what are the scoops on the quarter panels for? There are big ones up top and smaller ones on the bottom; the smaller ones look like brake cooling ducts, but what are the big ones for?
Oh to have someone like factory five make a streetable kit car based on this! Just the thought of building something like this for fun drives, that would be amazing!
The 2D was such a beautiful car, and such a classic looking race car from an age when real designers made cars in small shops pretty much by hand and without multi million budgets for every race.

I have seen Jim Hall with his Chapparral 2D and three other Chapparels at the AMLS in Laguna Seca. I almost got an autogrtaph!
