Man , do I really miss this guy ! I rememeber getting his greatest hits album for christmas in 1973. I remember his tv show specials and his appearences on the muppets show. He , in my opinion , was way ahead of his time as an activist ! I remember his affiliation with Jaques Cousteau. Too bad it took so long for corporations to really hear his voice ! We could have saved alot of conservation. I bummed when he passed ! He has a distinct voice and no one sounds like him. Man could he yodel !

One of those wonderful powerful songs that meant so much to JD and that he sang with so much feeling. Always makes me cry. Thanks for sharing this

This song cost JD his recording contract with RCA who was owned by GE who were the manufacturers of missles etc. (which is probably why this song was not looked upon favorably by RCA). Despite the threat of losing his recording contract if he recorded this, he went ahead and recorded it with Alexander Gradsky. JD always trusted in what he felt was right and followed his heart. I applaud him for that !! Too bad the message of this song is still falling on a lot of deaf ears.
