I saw Elton John right around this time, except it was in . . . Greensboro, North Carolina! I still remember he came on the stage with his huge sunglasses, riding on the shoulder of this huge guy.
@godwhyisthistaken I was one of the riggers for this show, Stevie Wonder did appear for one song only. Kiki Dee also made an appearance. At the time she was seeing Elton's bass player an American whose name escapes me now.
Came out when I was 7, loved so much playing as a child...clear up until I was cruising around at 17 as a teenager singing it at the top of our lungs as the sun came up in the morning. back then we really did think it was gonna be a long long time, fun how our view changes.
this show was a charity gig for a football charity called Goaldiggers..tickets were five pound..a lot then,,Elton had just finished his solo tour with ray cooper. Stevie Wonder did guest but only on one song..which I cant remember. The support act was a band called China which was a Davey Johnstone band..they were awful but I had not spent a fiver to see them. Elton was great that night. The arena at wembley is not used so much for concerts which is a shame.
Stevie Wonder was indeed on for the last tune, Bite your lip. However he didn't sing and the band were kicking footballs into the audience for fun. Cooper man actually scored a direct hit and blew a couple of lights out ;) All together Elton rattled through 23 songs, I've still got the programme and I wrote them all down (pretty anal I know!).
Idk but i wish i did, this was from a CD that had a colection of vids on it, like some wembly shows, australia, Maybe it was Love songs?? lol, yeah, guy babylon RIP :[
i personally liked his 1984 performance in wembley or rocket man. his voice has never been more clear and powerful

I think he may be the only artist whom I would prefer to hear his live recordings over his studio recordings. He's just so DAMN GOOD live!

I'd pay £50,000 to travel back in time to see this gig.

I've been looking for a good copy of this concert for years. So far, all Ive been able to find look like 10th generation VHS dubs.
Can any one tell me how I can get a good copy of this show?
