  • "The War March of the Priests" is perfect for Dr. Phibes because he sees himself as a righteous avenger, he feels completely justified in what he does.

  • There are in fact two versions of the film. One with this magnificient piece of music at the beginning and one which starts with a modified version of the song the automaton orchestra plays (a little later in the film)

  • pllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllppppppppppppppppppppp,........................................................

  • Masterful rendition of Mendelssohn's War March of the Priests.

  • @davros1221 This is a prime example of a masterful, near-perfect musical work enhanced by marvellous visuals. For a better musical rendering, view Roucher du Toit's rendition on a really massive pipe organ in South Africa.

  • A great piece!

  • I first saw this film very late at night. What a film!

What with that spooky organ recital, I had trouble sleeping after it had finished.

  • I like this but the organ in The Ghost and Mr. Chicken is way spooky!

  • Price certainly had fun with his roles: knew just how much ham to add to his wry.

  • I love this movie and this opening. Vincent Price was great in this movie and he's definitely an original. Thanks for posting this loomyaire!!

  • I miss Vincent Price...:o(

  • Does anyone know who was credited as the organist on this rendition of March of the War Priests for the movie, and it is likely that the organ in the movie is a pipe -- because, it kind of looks like a Hammond.

  • wow... the closing title sequence is good too. has a bizarre rendition of 'over the rainbow.'

  • @blueeyesofice FYI....cozmovaldimar has the closing theme....titled Dr Phibes (Tribute)

  • @blueeyesofice

it IS over the rainbow :D

  • Thanks so much for posting; I LOVE this song and both of the Phibes movies. I've told my husband I want this song played at my funeral, complete with black plumed horses pulling a black funeral coach. Total class!

  • @tedhead60 FUNERAL ? LAY OFF THE SAUCE

  • Have a look at Roucher du Toit's version of this organ piece on youtube.

  • which is not that good

  • It's not on a theater organ. He makes excellent use of the instrument he's playing. I disagree; du Toit's is different, but still exceeding good.

  • Yes Du toit's is certainly quite different! lol.

Its different by the fact that he makes more mistakes than most organists and has a wierd mixtury registration. An exceedingly good version should be able to "wow" most people and set an example to amateur organists which Du Toit obviously doesnt.

  • Priceless virtually all the film is on here in Pieces/ Wonderful to see again . Price is Priceless

  • Saw this movie fully for the first time recently and it brings back alot of memories, good upload!

  • Thank you for uploading this!

I saw this movie for the 1st time 15 years ago and since then i' m a huge fan of the great and late Vincent Price.

I love the intro with the spooky organ play and the whole soundtrack of this movie is amazing!
