Sample recreation of this was by Scorccio Sample Replays. Then Michael Gray re-edited the replay to what you hear on "The Weekend". Check the Scorccio website to confirm (it's under Replays:Audio)
You've made my day. I know a producer from Croydon, Sth London (no names but famous in his own right - signed & sent Daniel Beddingfield to No1 with Gotta get thru this) and I put this argument to him. He listened to this choon & the Mike Gray choon but he wouldn't have it! The funny thing is he knows Mike Gray and he wanted to rip the piss out of him for finding out where the original sample came from. But he simply wouldn't have it! At least I can go back to him and convince him - so thanks!
Very nice song. I knew this sample by Michael Gray and later I found out that this nice sample belong to these girls. Anyway both of them are great but we have to respect the ones who made it first.
Here's the thing... listen to the synth on this choon and then search for Weekend by Michael Gray and listen to the synth in that choon. I'm sure the synth in Mike Gray's track has been lifted from this choon !!

it turned out very good though! i wonder how he removed the extra sounds unless he overladed (hidden it with the extra instruments he added in his song).
this is my family singing on this joint

Those old school funk hits sound so much better than the recent hits that sample them! Thanks deandreams for uploading this great tune.

Does anybody remember a dance classic from '86 called "Personal Injury?"
I never knew the name of the artist but she sounded alot like this girl singing. and even the instrumental was similar.

michael gray did sample this for the song Weekend, there is no need for proof, its up on his own site, under the notes for the song, and on Discogs
