There are cheat codes for Pharaoh. You have to press and hold (ctrl) then press and hold (alt) then press and hold (shift) then press (c) to open a cheats menu. Continue holding (ctrl) even after you press and hold (alt). Keep holding (ctrl) and (alt) and push and hold (shift). If anyone wants me to, I can give you specific codes. But the codes are generally god hijacking codes. Codes where you FORCE a god to bless / curse you

I had to destroy two breweries, some lower-class houses etc. just to make gardens or statues - I would never get a spacious manor or something like that if I didn't :)). Awesome game.

instead of one by one going don't accept for the storage yard you could have accepted none and then changed them to w/e you wanted. but other than that you are very good at this game!! I rarely used roadblocks and now I can see the importance of them.
good village shame it took 9 mins to get 264 pop with only 3 trade cities should build a shipwright sooner and got more timber in as well but other than that i like the way u lay your village out
Well, I didn't get time to play more then three-four missions, and I find it really interesting, though very different to Pharaoh. Not so much the game, as the UI. I mean, don't expect to find buttons and settings the way they were in pharaoh. It's a lot of fun though, and the purpose is the same. (Build pyramids , evolve your city etc.) I say try it!
OH Theres an easter egg with him, if you press where normally the "Tell me more" button is, he will talk like the others (Abouts gods n stuff), but it doesn't work when everything is good in the city.
I'm a "fan" of pharaoh/cleopatra ever since they came out, it's always been on my computer since 99, w/o exception, and now I found out Sierra made a "sequel" to Pharaoh in 2004, "Children of the Nile", and I'm trying it out now. Has anybody else played that? What do you guys think of it?
great game, the first of many great city building cil games, with Zeus and the rise of the middle kingdom, and Ceaser.
I think game wise, this was weaker than what came later, mostly of the labor workers and the food system. I relly hated to build crummy homes near a farm JUST so it can have workers.
Roadblocks block all "random" walkers - those that don't have a specific destination in mind. That includes labor recruiters, firemen, architects, policemen, and service providers. However, they don't block "destination" walkers, like bazaar buyers and cart pushers.
the other two aren't entirely correct. Roadblocks block any "wanderers", i.e bazaar sellers, firemarshalls, policemen on duty, etc. They will however not block anyone who has a specific destination, such as bricklayers that are heading towards a monument or a soldier heading toward his fort.
ok im not sure u would know but some1 must! how the f**k to i get these two thigs into other ppl houses!?! luxury goods and potery get those damn thing no way in hell will go into my bazars!!!!! and i know they can somehow... but they wont pic it up from my damn storage yard!!! and its not like it can go into a ganary...
it turns out that the houses werent high enough lvl for linen or luxury goods.. now they are i do everything it asks for and it has like 100 ocupants... now its asking for another type of luxury good! and i only have jewlrey ¬¬ uh...
@themazii Yeah I generally put a Bazaar for every three or four houses, that seems to be the only way to get the most out of Bazaar's, so yeah. And try to remember this game is about 10 years old, even considering the Cleopatra addition, so they never bothered to really fix any of the annoying things about it, your problem being only one Lol.
anyone know what it takes to create royal estates(not sure if its royal or regal or something)in the second mission as pharaoh? i have the temples,water,every type of supplies,schools.libraryes,entertainment,gardens and statues and the desirability isnt high enough. what more?
size? need at least 3x3 block space for it to evolve. It can grow into gardens or consume neighboring housing blocks but it can't for fixed buildings like statues or shops... Check your overlay views to make sure it has access to everything.
Never seen a worse player, builds temples and bandstand (without entertainment) before food production industry. Then places Granary behind a roadblock so that the Bazar won't get access to it. Then he starts to import food instead just plain crazy...
Road blocks only stop people from randomly going down that route. Any person with a destination will ignore them. IE. delivering ore to a store house, the lady going from the market to the granary to get goods, bringing reeds to the papyrus weaver, etc...
bazaar traders can go past the roadblock. everybody who needs to go through the roadblock can go. bazaar members to go to get food etc. on the other hand the guys who will look for workers dont go past the block... so yeah, he's fucked.

Are you talking about my video? This is my first and it's the only one at youtube that time, I was carefree in my building. Though food aka "fish" is essential, and I placed a few blocks of housing away from the main city to allow employment if you look carefully. I forgot about the shipyard for the fishing boat, which I later add, that's it.
it was just a comment. not an attack or something. ;) you should se me how i played caesar, pharaoh etc first times i played them. going bankrupt in about 5 minutes and havin need for 100+ employers. :D you simply dont master this games in couple of hours. it takes time and for me thats the whole magic. have fun ;)
i dont understand how can you get workers if those employers cant reach homes to get workers...

I agree. Any experienced player will tend to use housing blocks/templates etc. I could tell the player in this vid is very inexperienced. Just looks like he's throwing buildings anywhere without any real organisation.
One thing that tends to annow me is how the walker that looks for employees gets stopped by road-blocks( I use as many roadblocks as I can). I suppose it's just another challenge to overcome though. Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
What I do is make my templates, but for business districts, I will place my industry in a reasonable road length, put down a home at each end, do the infrastructure required for the minimum of those 2 houses, and just let them remain as crude huts. The game will see people and employ the buildings from the rest of the workforce. Call it a glitch, I use it anyway.

I don't understand. The sound on mine seems to have stopped working. But when I "explore" the disc I can get the mp3 files and listen to them. I am not sure if it is the disc or just a compatibility problem
It was a long time ago. Was inspired to make a Pharaoh video when I replayed this game from the beginning of the campaign. So I randomly just created a small village :D. Not meant to be a tutorial or a showcase, just to inspire others on the joys of city builder type game.
If it's such a good game... Buy it. Can't believe torrenting is so damn open now.
This game is rocking though brings back awesome old memories! (You can buy it on amazon etc but unfortunately I have not found *legal* downloads)

Either they are too far away from the bazaar or you have set the goods to stockpile.

build two bazars and make them buy different goods, that way they should get stocked properly. (If I remember correctly you can do that)

it turns out that the houses werent high enough lvl for linen or luxury goods.. now they are i do everything it asks for and it has like 100 ocupants... now its asking for another type of luxury good! and i only have jewlrey ¬¬ uh...

you need to upgrade the houses to a certain level before they are wealthy enough to purchase these itmes.
google "housing blocks". that will help a lot i think

@themazii Yeah I generally put a Bazaar for every three or four houses, that seems to be the only way to get the most out of Bazaar's, so yeah. And try to remember this game is about 10 years old, even considering the Cleopatra addition, so they never bothered to really fix any of the annoying things about it, your problem being only one Lol.

anyone know what it takes to create royal estates(not sure if its royal or regal or something)in the second mission as pharaoh? i have the temples,water,every type of supplies,schools.libraryes,entertainment,gardens and statues and the desirability isnt high enough. what more?

size? need at least 3x3 block space for it to evolve. It can grow into gardens or consume neighboring housing blocks but it can't for fixed buildings like statues or shops... Check your overlay views to make sure it has access to everything.

Never seen a worse player, builds temples and bandstand (without entertainment) before food production industry. Then places Granary behind a roadblock so that the Bazar won't get access to it. Then he starts to import food instead just plain crazy...

Road blocks only stop people from randomly going down that route. Any person with a destination will ignore them. IE. delivering ore to a store house, the lady going from the market to the granary to get goods, bringing reeds to the papyrus weaver, etc...

bazaar traders can go past the roadblock. everybody who needs to go through the roadblock can go. bazaar members to go to get food etc. on the other hand the guys who will look for workers dont go past the block... so yeah, he's fucked.
lol an building so many docks an other shit before essentials... damn. bad.

Are you talking about my video? This is my first and it's the only one at youtube that time, I was carefree in my building. Though food aka "fish" is essential, and I placed a few blocks of housing away from the main city to allow employment if you look carefully. I forgot about the shipyard for the fishing boat, which I later add, that's it.

it was just a comment. not an attack or something. ;) you should se me how i played caesar, pharaoh etc first times i played them. going bankrupt in about 5 minutes and havin need for 100+ employers. :D you simply dont master this games in couple of hours. it takes time and for me thats the whole magic. have fun ;)

i dont understand how can you get workers if those employers cant reach homes to get workers...
also..what a waste of flood after flood.. :) ( i ussually play as 10 percent of speed, when i build everything ) then i just press ] and max the speed :)
p.s. use [ and ] to change speed...

Got it a couple of years ago. It was pharaoh and the cleopatra expansion all in one pack. I can't blame you, it's a great game! Very addictive too!

It's fairly standard.
I follow a few templates I tend to use. The walkers make for interesting designs.
I've always been just as much, if not more, interested in how the City looks, as in actually winning.

I agree. Any experienced player will tend to use housing blocks/templates etc. I could tell the player in this vid is very inexperienced. Just looks like he's throwing buildings anywhere without any real organisation.
One thing that tends to annow me is how the walker that looks for employees gets stopped by road-blocks( I use as many roadblocks as I can). I suppose it's just another challenge to overcome though. Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

What I do is make my templates, but for business districts, I will place my industry in a reasonable road length, put down a home at each end, do the infrastructure required for the minimum of those 2 houses, and just let them remain as crude huts. The game will see people and employ the buildings from the rest of the workforce. Call it a glitch, I use it anyway.

Ehm one question, in the game. if you could reply, it would be awesome, here is the question: When i try to make weapons or warships etc. i need wood, and copper and other stuff and i have them in my storage place but it doesnt go to the shipwright or to the weaponsmith.and i want it to go to those places is there something im doing wrong? please reply thanks :D p.s. i get the copper and wood by importing!

I don't understand. The sound on mine seems to have stopped working. But when I "explore" the disc I can get the mp3 files and listen to them. I am not sure if it is the disc or just a compatibility problem

It was a long time ago. Was inspired to make a Pharaoh video when I replayed this game from the beginning of the campaign. So I randomly just created a small village :D. Not meant to be a tutorial or a showcase, just to inspire others on the joys of city builder type game.
