What a treasure to have the master tapes of these songs. You really get the process and creativity of the Beatles and we have a chance to listen to what George Martin is listening for. This is when they just played it through and did their best to do it well in a single recording, rather than tracks recorded separately then mixed. George Martin, the 5th Beatle, Brian Epstein also the 5th Beatle. On the road Epstein was the 5th Beatle, in the studio, Martin the 5th.

At 2:43 Paul actually hits a wrong note. I can't believe it. Heh heh. My lord of bass playing, how fallen. Actually he amazed me, and still does. There are always new little things to hear that didn't catch the ear before, even after years of listening. He is one of those 'makes it look so easy' geniuses. In film, he never looked like he was doing much with his fingers, but there was so much to hear and enjoy following. It wasn't all Nowhere Man, but all equally thoughtful and skillful.

I really admire the past eras in studio recording, where the band had to play all at once and start over again if someone screws up. Yeah, it's a pain in the ass but it's honest work in my opinion, compared to doing one instrument track at a time and often one section of the song.
