hi i've been using 1.1.2, jailbroken. i updated to 1.1.3 through the Installer.app. it worked. then when i ran Installer.app in 1.1.3, it asked me to upgrade the Installer. upon doing so the iPhone crashed/locked. i've been trying to get 1.0.2 to work again... but at Step 7 in the video it just freezes at Step 1: 4... over and over again. I've used both the latest iTunes and 7.4.3.1 to do this to no avail. please someone help! :(
sorry i mean to clarify. In the video's instruction at Step 7: "Launch iTunes again, ignore all messages from it and run AppTap. Now it will jailbreak your phone and install Installer.app".. AppTapp has several processes, and one of them is Step 1: 4 which is where it freezes.

I tried what you just said, but it still didn't work...so I spent some more time by changing firmwares...I downgraded to 1.0.2, but unlock still didn't work, so I upgraded to 1.1.1 and installed all stuff like BSD subsystem, Open SSH and such and it magically started working.

you have to look at his video man, before you click restore you would have to hold down shift key on your computer and then from there a screen will pop up and you need to find the place where you saved your 1.0.2 file

i dont understand step 6. I can't get my iphone back to the activation screen from the triangle screen. I ran app tap but it says to NOT have itunes running so i closed it and every other apple/ipod program and ran app tapp with the 1.0.2 checked and then right after i clicked it, it tells me "Download Failed: resolving hostname"! Yes, I downgraded my friend's phone. It was delivered originally with 1.0.2 but accidentially upgraded to 1.1.1, then I downgraded it to 1.0.2 using this tutorial.

b.) You don't have to downgrade. You can use everything in your stock phone except the phone features. (unless u have att)

robertpman i can teach you how to downgrade your iphone but i suggest you proceed with this when the unlock for 1.1.1 is out.
when you get the error 1, just ignore it. hold reset+home button, use a timer, after 10 sec release reset button, keep pressing the button until timer reach 20.
restore by pressing shift+click restore. coose 1.02.
you will get a 2nd error "1013"
ignore it. your iphone will now show a yellow triangle. run app.tap and follow the rest f the examples
to check your mod firmware (base band): SCROLL DOWN
if you see 04.02.04_G or 04.01.13_G even if you succesfully downgraded to fw 1.0.2 (ur base band is stuck with 1.1.1) THATS WHY THE OLD UNLOCK DOESNT WORK. but it will soon be out.
a.) it will work as a phone when u complete the UNLOCK PROCESS. (which basically involves 1.RESTORING/downgrading 2.Activating 3.Jailbreaking 4.unlocking)
b.) so downgrading is not = unlocking
c.) downgrading 1.1.1 does not downgrade the baseband (so it is still practically a v1.1.1)
.)BUT downgrading will allow the base band to be changed later. =) (later is SOON)

I tried the Apptappinstaller and in the middle sending the files (the black screen). it aborted the program and came out messages "cannot send to iphone"
please DOWNLOAD another apptapp install, just GOOGLE, there's many.=) DO NOT USE the one which came with the pack anymore, use the new one. THAT WILL SOLVE IT. ^-^ goodluck! also, try to restart your pc first.

What is baseband. If you downgrade the phone will it become locked and you have to wait for someone to tell you how to activate it. I dont understand what you want to do and risk your phone for what??

yes you can, i did it my self hoping for the best, funny thing is that my baseband was not downgraded but everything still worked but it all ended yesterday when it plunged into the toilet. Im sending it back to apple and replaceing it.
Baseband cant be downgraded becuase there's no way to flash the baseband firmware. I have a downgraded 1.1.1 to 1.0.2 and my baseband is still 4.01.13 G but phone works perfect and makes calls i can use wi-fi and safari. Works normal.:)

because with the 1.0.2 you get this thing called APPTAP that u can Custimize your phone anyway u want, u can even play old school super mario on it.. And on the 1.1.1 it dosent work. Also some people who unlocked there phone for another company, it relocks with 1.1.1

you have to look at his video man, before you click restore you would have to hold down shift key on your computer and then from there a screen will pop up and you need to find the place where you saved your 1.0.2 file

yes I just bought last week new v1.1.1 iphone
its working. right now using phone. the thing is dont close itunes when running apptapp and run apptapp 2 times not just one time. it will say complete next time.

i dont understand step 6. I can't get my iphone back to the activation screen from the triangle screen. I ran app tap but it says to NOT have itunes running so i closed it and every other apple/ipod program and ran app tapp with the 1.0.2 checked and then right after i clicked it, it tells me "Download Failed: resolving hostname"! What am i doing wrong???? Please help me guys!

Yes, I downgraded my friend's phone. It was delivered originally with 1.0.2 but accidentially upgraded to 1.1.1, then I downgraded it to 1.0.2 using this tutorial.

- First thing he did --> Updated to 1.1.1 (by mistake)
- Called me for help :)

* He can do everything except making phone calls.

I think anySIM works just vith virgin 1.1.1 and 1.0.2 and NOT with downgraded phones?

if you already downgrade the version to 1.0.2, the firmware still 1.1.1. you cannot use phone function ( only ipod touch )

i just got the iphone, i checked the ver by dialing emergency To check firmware, (emergency) dial *3001#12345#* and tap Versions. Firware version should be 03.14.08_G. If it's 04.01.13_G you have v1.1.1 .
SO NOW THAT I HAVE 1.1.1 WHAT DO I DO FIRST? DOWNGRADE IT TO 1.02? IF SO WHAT IS THE CORRECT LINK TO GET 1.02

so theres no point for me to downgrade a stock 1.1.1 phone because it cant be used as a phone until later right? so the only reason to downgrade 1.1.1 is to use its features such as ipod and 3rd party apps, no phone, right?

a.)BINGO! No point YET in downgrading a stock 1.11 phone, YES.
b.) You don't have to downgrade. You can use everything in your stock phone except the phone features. (unless u have att)
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DOWNGRADE IS FOR THOSE
a.) who have unlocked 1.02 phones but accidentally upgraded to 1.11. they need this because their iphone lost everything except iTunes store. (really MEAN for apple.)
b.)if u want to try to unlock your stock phone. WHICH I DONT RECOMMEND JUST YET.

robertpman i can teach you how to downgrade your iphone but i suggest you proceed with this when the unlock for 1.1.1 is out.
when you get the error 1, just ignore it. hold reset+home button, use a timer, after 10 sec release reset button, keep pressing the button until timer reach 20.
restore by pressing shift+click restore. coose 1.02.
you will get a 2nd error "1013"
ignore it. your iphone will now show a yellow triangle. run app.tap and follow the rest f the examples

a. IF YOU HAVE A STOCK 1.11 IPHONE
downgrading the firmware does not unlock it.
b. IF YOU HAVE AN UNLOCKED 1.02 IPHONE WHICH YOU UPGRADED TO 1.11 (it messed up the iphone!)
downgrading the firmware will help a lot because it will recover the Iphone functions EXCEPT PHONE FUNCTIONS.

usb+itunes icon=most likely v1.1.1
to restore
to check, go to:settings>general>about>fw version
to check your mod firmware (base band): SCROLL DOWN
if you see 04.02.04_G or 04.01.13_G even if you succesfully downgraded to fw 1.0.2 (ur base band is stuck with 1.1.1) THATS WHY THE OLD UNLOCK DOESNT WORK. but it will soon be out.

a.) it will work as a phone when u complete the UNLOCK PROCESS. (which basically involves 1.RESTORING/downgrading 2.Activating 3.Jailbreaking 4.unlocking)
b.) so downgrading is not = unlocking
c.) downgrading 1.1.1 does not downgrade the baseband (so it is still practically a v1.1.1)
.)BUT downgrading will allow the base band to be changed later. =) (later is SOON)

please DOWNLOAD another apptapp install, just GOOGLE, there's many.=) DO NOT USE the one which came with the pack anymore, use the new one. THAT WILL SOLVE IT. ^-^ goodluck! also, try to restart your pc first.

AT&t customer with an 1.1.1, you can downgrade. plug iphone to itunes, hold power button and home for 10sec, release power but keep holding home button untill you see blank screen, itune will tell you to retore, hold shift and hit restore, get 1.0.2 restore file. Let it restore wait for error message at the end, then run apptap it will also give you error message. Just close app and run again and let it do its thing, this only works for AT&T customers dont know about the rest.(HACK THE PLANTE)

yes you can, i did it my self hoping for the best, funny thing is that my baseband was not downgraded but everything still worked but it all ended yesterday when it plunged into the toilet. Im sending it back to apple and replaceing it.

Baseband cant be downgraded becuase there's no way to flash the baseband firmware. I have a downgraded 1.1.1 to 1.0.2 and my baseband is still 4.01.13 G but phone works perfect and makes calls i can use wi-fi and safari. Works normal.:)

because with the 1.0.2 you get this thing called APPTAP that u can Custimize your phone anyway u want, u can even play old school super mario on it.. And on the 1.1.1 it dosent work. Also some people who unlocked there phone for another company, it relocks with 1.1.1

Thanks for your answer. It sounds really cool. But is there a way of reversing all this downgrading stuff though if things go wrong or will Apple wash their hands of you. It's a phone, ipod and internet thingy. If Apple wanted it to do these other things why have not they enabled it to do so.
