Hey Tarryk... I commented on this vid a while back and my opinion hasn't changed a jot. I come back to play this from time to time when AO starts getting a bit stale. It is such a good unofficial promo for the game. Have you any plans to revamp it in HD?

Sorry for the late reply... unfortunately, there's really no way to revamp it that much, since it's using mostly clips from the AO animated series. The quality wasn't much better than it is in this video. Maybe if they release a HD version of the series? :)

It's not an AO promo.

It's made by the founder of GSP Radio, AO's in-game radio station. It was made by DJ Tarryk, and he used the video to go with the song, not the other way around. I think he did have the video special made for the song though.

If you play AO, you can tune into GSP and find out when and where the live in-game events are. You can even talk to Tarryk about the song and video if he's on.

How to critique, lesson one: Tarryk, this vid is crap. You used a poor sense of timing in the scene transitions, and it's clear u suck at winmovie maker. The video is blurry at best, and the production quality of the song is ass, constantly clipping and using your crappy voice to overpower the whole theme. there is just a small problem: Funcom should sell the AO expansions at the Fnac stores too in Europe like WoW does cuz it is hard to pay by the other methods and a lot of ppl is still froob because of that!

Fair enough, game-flames and my bait-taking have been removed. And yes, I know full well that the game still has "flaws", but IMHO they're so few an far between in the overall scope of the game that they don't detract from the enjoyability. Some are easier to fix than others, and I think the dated graphics are SO dated that they can certainly be called a flaw, therefore the new engine can be called a "fix". Sure, it's a stretch, but that's what opinions are all about. :) Thanks for props!

I believe the storyline has been AOs' strongest asset from the beginning, but i have to admit its look has suffered in recent years compared to it's competitors. However, there are still areas in Rubi-Ka and Shadowlands that have me zooming the camera out so i can enjoy some stunning vistas. Considering the graphics engine is 5 years old, it shows how much care and thought Funcom put into the graphic design from the outset.

The new graphics will put the the cherry back on the cake ;)

Anything that will not have ten million subscribers like the behemoth WoW? WoW is pretty much an abnormality in the MMO industry. Some of the longest-living and most stable games are around 100k-200k. Exceptions stand mainly in Asia and there in Japan and Kora the most.

A game cannot be taken purely by taking WoW as a standard. Check out other MMOs. WAR has 350k. Is that less then what EA wanted? You bet! Still not a 'Fail' though.

I'm pretty sure I didn't mention World Of Warcraft Wishstone. I've played WoW and frankly, I can't see what all the fuss is about, but each to there own.

I play Anarchy Online and EvE mainly because IMO they are technical games that require a bit of grey-matter to master. I'm sure there are other games out there on the 'interweb' that can offer a similar challenge that I am not aware of.

As for AoC... My comments are based on convos i've had with many ppl who returned to EvE and AO from AoC.

I would be happy to restate: An MMO that has 100k+ subscribers is not a flop in the least. Feel free to re-read my comment on this. You cannot compare other MMOs to WoW and as such 10 million is NOT what you can use as a measurement. AoC is in the 150k-250k bracket. That is quite healthy for an MMO.

If by FLOP you meant how YOU enjoy it, that would be something else entirely!

I base my conclusions on the ppl I know from my org specifically, and AO in general, who moved to AoC for a while then returned to AO complaining about the game. At no point did i mention that huge subscriber numbers = success. Although from a fiscal standpoint it obviously does. I hope that Funcom sort out all the games niggles for the sake of AoCs subscribers, or it WILL flop.

Back on topic: The new Game Director "Means" has hit the ground running.and the future of AO looks rosy ;)
