@mistersako2 If you love the first part, you may like to know that there is more to it. It's the start of a 20-minute scene in opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti. The second, contemporary part was written specifically for the movie.
Divided into two songs: Il Dolce Suono and The Diva Dance (The Trance at the end which is awesome!)...Perfect for a space movie starring Bruce Willis!
@TheHalfbreed57 Could be but, you never know because there are people that spend there entire lives doing voice practice to the point that they sing like birds.
@YEIXI dont have it anymore :( sorry. One thing you can do though is to copy the link of this video and paste it in the youtube video 2 mp3 converter website :) google: "Youtube video to mp3" or something similar.
@puffiez the operatic original is actually this i found to my surprise apparently. shazam got it. "lucia di lammermoor" if you have spotify the top result is much longer
After she sings this beautiful melody she gets shot and then Mr. Dallas takes the stones out of her stomach which left me to question.......How in the universe did those four stones get in there?
@TalonRG translation below: first part The sweet sound of his voice struck me! Ah, that voice has entered my heart! Edgardo! I surrender to you, oh my Edgardo! I have escaped from your enemies. A chill creeps into my breast! Every fibre trembles! My foot falters! Sit down by the fountain with me a while! Alas, the tremendous phantom arises and separates us! Let us take refuge here, Edgardo, at the foot of the altar. It is scattered with roses! A heavenly harmony, tell me, do you not hear it?
@TalonRG second part: Ah, the marriage hymn is playing! They are preparing the rite for us! Oh, how happy I am! Oh joy that is felt but not said! The incense is burning! The holy torches are shining, shining around! Here is the minister! Give me your right hand! Oh joyful day! At last I am yours, at last you are mine, A god gives you to me. Let me share The greatest pleasures with you, A smile from merciful heaven, Life will be ours.
I fell in love with this song the very frist time i heard it and i loved the movie to. her voice is amazing especaly towards the ends when she does those high note really fast. lol
@Zebbideeful How do you know you don't like opera? There are many different operas, in different styles, you can easily like one and dislike another. If you heard one and didn't like it doesn't mean you wouldn't like another. The first part of this is "mad scene" from "Lucia di Lammermoor" by Donizetti. For all you know you may like the rest of it too.
@jewelmarkess thanks for the info . ive never listened to much opera or classical type music , but i cannot deny its ability to overwhelm my emotions . i will listen to some more . to be truthful i wouldnt know where to start i just know a few bits i like ie. Montserat Caballe singing O mia babbino caro
@Zebbideeful If you like this, you could try listening to the full mad scene from Lucia di Lammermoor. For example, search for "Lucia di Lammermoor mad scene". The one with Natalie Dessay is good and has English subtitles. The production is a bit strange as it moves the action from 17th to 19th century, but the music is the same as is the story. If you like it, you could try listening to other parts of Lucia di Lammermoor. I could send you message with other highlights from opera if you want.
@Zebbideeful Start with a comic opera then if you can't handle heroes die at the end. Maybe "Barber of Seville", there are many videos here, those from the 2007 Met production have English subtitles, or L'elisir d'amore (e.g. /watch?v=X47X0FKRcyU ) or "The Magic Flute', or "La fille du Regiment" (daugther of the regiment). Also, I think you'll cry less for "O mio babbino caro" if you read the plot of "Gianni Schicchi", it's a comic opera too.
This song and character were probably the coolest part of the movie. I hate how they immidiately killed her off after this, and had Bruce Willis desecrate her corpse.
@QueenVivian666 I sang like that when I was 6 - 9 years old for a truly historic church. Looking back on it I can only sing like a guy now unless I retrain myself to sound like innocence. As we get older without conditioning our bodies we fail in our endeavors.
Condition your physical ailment and your spirit will be free to sing.
@TheNewMeChannel I'm honestly not sure. We're all a little bit different and i've tried changing my voice from time to time over the years. As a guy ,I feel I could recapture the way my voice was when I was still a kid, but at 28 years old now i'd always have the.. things that changed it, somewhere, in that kind of singing.
I was drunk when I posted that so let me try to explain what I meant. Things like smoking and drug use and even just growing older have physically changed my vocal chords.
@TheNewMeChannel I'm honestly not sure. We're all a little bit different. I've managed to change my voice in spite of getting older and smoking. At 28 years old... I feel that if I tried for a while I could alter the way my vocal chords produce certain sounds if I wanted to. I have from time to time over the years done just that. For example I listened to Mindless Self Indulgence and sure even through the drugs and alcohol it was fun enough that I changed my voice to be able to sing like him.
@TheNewMeChannel Sorry not enough text room. That was when I was about 20. Sure I didn't sound exactly like their singer but it was pretty close. I'd encourage you to take a look at the video "Laura sings the "Dive Dance" from the Fifth Element". She managed to pull it off and I imagine she had to train herself to be able to. By the way her singing that is very beautiful.
@Caramelle13Castle The first part is from opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti. Then it cuts to the diva dance. But in opera the music continues differently, so if you like the first part of it, you may be interested in how it goes in opera.
Seen enough in Conservatory of Amsterdam to know that it is actually possible to do these things. Don't know wether this is editted or not, but it can be done without. People are doing it.
@QueenVivian666 no i am pretty sure its not edited not only that but its deffidently possible without a doubt infact you can find people on youtube repeating the song singing it just how it was sang some can even do better and hold higher notes. ^^
@specific14 I think in the extras they did say they had to edit it a little, i'll hafta check the 'making of' again but i think they only slightly edited it, either way its a friggin awesome piece
@QueenVivian666 If you are not sure this can be done try listening to the following opera arias: "Der holle rache", "Les oiseaux dans la charmille" (also known as "doll song" from The tales of Hoffman), "bell song" from Lakme. There are other arias with vocal acrobatics, but even if you listen to one of these three, you'd see how singers can do it. Also, the first part of it is the beginning of the "mad scene" from opera "Lucia di Lammermoor", complete "mad scene" has some quick notes too.
@KiKiLoVedOnO This is the amazingly beautiful music which is no wonder considering that the first part of it comes from opera Lucia di Lammermoor that has been performed since 1835 and is still enjoyed.
@DarthIshmail1 I am not sure about the last part, but the first part of this song is from opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti.
