Commodore use basically detuned Corvette engines. The new V6 3.6l has a higher output than the 5.7l used a decade ago. Amazing. The ls1 used in the earlier models was rated at 260kw, with each model upgrade it was increased. I think it is 300kw now with the ls3 6.2l.
gazzawey the lumina name in USA refers to a front wheel drive POS that was killed off in the early 2000's. the holden was sold as a gto until pontiac was killed off and the underpinnings are now used for the new camaro that was released in 2010. but the lumina name was apparently used in the middle east for the holden monaro according to wiki but is not at all related to the US lumina.
LS2 6.0L always made 400hp in the Monaro/GTO, but never made over 500lb.ft. in stock form. Whoever did their research for this is an idiot. If it was actually from Top Gear I would expect more, but this is just from one of Clarkson's DVDs.
This was years ago back in the first half of the 2000's when the 5.7 actually did only produce around 290 - 295 hp. Seriously go and look up the specs, their on redbook
