hey i have tryed to do this several times know but my problem is when i try to put the efect on it moves within the frame. if i ignore those i end up geting a good video but when i play it, it ends up being slower then thelightsaber in the video. the blade that i make it slower then the lightsaber. maybe i have some realy bad quality video i dunno but i used a Canon camera to film it

ok so when i get to the point of coping the frames to make a mask as you say in 2:45 and on it won't let me copy it and i cant figure out why,what could be wrong?

hey, just a little piece of advice, if you want to do a screen capture instead of using your video camera, then there's a great free online-based screen capturing program... it's called screen toaster, you have to register for free, but it's really a good program for screen recording, really good quality as well. then you can download the video you recorded and edit in premiere elements. I just saw this and thought of the program, I just found out about it myself... good tutorial at any rate!

yes i use a sony handycam, i would of uploadded HD but the file has over 1 gb so flash could upload it better

i might be able to help you if josh cannot due to his very extensive video he said he is making. You can do this Effect with lightning and just change the color

yes, you can, but you don't have the ability to change the core width as easily as this, and you have to chop up the video itself into different sections, it makes it a LOT tougher, and a LOT more tedious, this way, you can use the keyframing timeline instead of chopping up the video itself, trust me, I did one with the Render>Lightning, and it was horrible... :-S

Its much easier to do a lightsaber with the lightning effect, thats what i use, look at my video 'lightsaber fight sequence' and see what ya think

what if you dont have luma key , can you still do it?

yes you can still do it, but you need the effect chroma key, anything that will take out the black then the effect will work because if you dont take out the black youll just have a random white rectangle flying around the screen. so try chroma key and pick black and adjust the tolerance, and blending, then it will work

if your in the timeline, select the clip you want to slow or speed, and then right click the video file, and select time stretch, then drag the 100% thing higher or lower

well upload the video and send it to this video as a video response, but for now, take your time doing it, and zoom in if you have to, because sometimes i go pretty precise, but for now send me the video

there is a much easier and better way to do this in adobe premiere elements. all u have to do is use the lightning effect but take away all of the branches and segments. than move it to where u want the light saber to be and move every frame, tah dah.

you just have to render your video (in whatever program) i HD, like a big size(let´s say 1080 x 720) and YouTube will automatically create the "Watch in HD" button.
