I recently purchased the DVD of We the Living with the bonus features and enjoyed it all very much after having seen it on the screen years ago. Is it possible to obtain the uncut, unaltered original version as shown in Italy and that ran about four hours?????

Glad you enjoyed the film! We will not be releasing the 1942 version of the film which was compromised by the addition of a few gratuitous propaganda scenes inserted by Italian authorities. Rand specified, as a condition for granting the film rights for the re-release, that the offending scenes would be permanently removed. The producers of the restored film intend to honor her wishes in perpetuity. These scenes can still be seen on the "Extras" disc in the DVD set.
