William H. Harrison I would rank as the 10th Best. Harrison was the first Whig. He also defeated the GREATEST PRESIDENT OF ALL TIME, Martin Van Buren. He stood his ground against Henrey Clay taking over his admistration by deciding his appointments and how he was going to run his adminstration Harrison also put the other GREATEST PRESIDENT OF ALL TIME as his running mate in the 1840 election, John Tyler.
I think people upped Grant so much because if I remember my history correctly, he was a general in the Union, and he was a big part of how the Union won the Civil War...of course, this was before he was elected president, but the point still remains that he did something great that helped our country.
Carter was by far worst. Driving the economy into the ground leaving Reagan to use tax cuts to give US the largest economic growth in years, defeating the Communist threat under the advantage building the SDI which cause the Soviets to fold and tear down that wall!!
Clinton is poised to move up to #12 when the next survey is released. Just need to let a little time pass and we can improve that Moral Authority #. If the categories are considered equally, then this survey can at best be considered 'cute' but nowhere near relevant.
They love smearing Warren G. Harding with that Teapot Dome thing, huh? Never mind that he was actually a good president who kept the US out of war, had a booming economy and generally left the American people alone. Oh yeah, busy body historians hate that....
And lost. He was more honest, a victorious general, healthier, younger and a better administrator. Certainly he was more popular and respected abroad.
michaeln1983: Yes, it was "common sense" to vote for Gore or Kerry but , obviously, common sense wasn't very common before November of '08. Therefore, I'm proud that I was one who recognized what a terrible president Bush would be.
LMAO,LOL, HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!! He finished just above Harrison in foreign policy 41 out of 42? Hahahahahah, and just barely beat HOOOVER in economic maagement, by one tenth of a point!!!!! Is this the best the Republicans can do for Presidential leadership??? OMG, fold up the tent GOP the only way you could nominate a bigger idiot is to go to the pound and pick a dog (or Sarah Palin) to run for President!!!!
If Obama's broad popularity holds out in 2012, I have no doubt the GOParrots will offer up the Disasta From Alaska as a sacrificial lamb. Toss red meat for the hardcore righty-tighties all over again.
The C-SPAN list is a joke.

William Henry Harrison campaigned on a platform of "don't show any opinions, and don't piss anyone off."
There's no way to tell if he was going to be any good.

While Bush is easily one of the worst presidents ever, people claiming he is last need to read up on their 19th century American history.

Cheney and McCain both ran against Grant.

You can't stop Ulysses S. Grant, you can only hope to contain him.

I hear what you´re saying but to be proud of that is like being proud of not burning down your own house.
It´s not something to be proud of, it´s common sense.

Grant sucked, Johnson (Andrew) failed but at least he was trying.

If the GOP nutbags offer up Toolin as their candidate, Obama pretty much wins by default, no election needed.
