wait a minute... u guys are wrong.... woodland camo was used in the vietnam war..... the first has a more od, brown, and black... it was 1st knows as ERDL camo....second pattern was it has a new color added and it was khaki... and after further experimentations of the US military the woodland camo was born... so its still plausible.....no need 2 argue my grandpa had one.... he served in the philippine army contingent force.... and i saw his picture with it in vietnam :D
@vietnamguy really dont get mad just let them learn by themselves im a vietnam reenactor and know a lot about the gear but i dont get mad over a little mistake
Cool but what I do with cards is soak them in tea and coffee (Dosnt make them that brown) then burn the edges slightly and fray them then rub it in dirt makes them really cool unless you want a new looking helmet
Hey kid, i can see you got a kind of passion for this kind of stuff. If you are interested, I still got the black/green wax cammo stick i got in basic training. Its the same kind used in viet nam. if you are interested, I can dig it out of storage and send it to you for free. Its dried out and probably un-usable but it may go with your collection. just pm me.
cover erdl pattern (late 1969 to 1982). chinstraps circa 1975. liner vietnam era type 2 airborne. you really shouldnt add grafiti to org cover. buy some foreign mfg look a like for that
this is not a Mitchell camo, this is Woodland camo, is not correct for a Vietnam War American Helmet. The cigarrets Lucky Strike are white , to this time (Vietnam war) Lucky Strike was green box. I´m sorry but your Helmet is not legitim :-(
Cool helmet man, I see you got your bug juice and your death card in there, but you need to use the soft pack of cigarettes not the box, it's the kind that's just paper and has the blue sticker on the top. I've also got a woodland cover on mine and a few death cards and a C-ration can opener.
your liner is wrong i see its green thats 80's vietnam is the same but just brown and its a little different in size. and in vietnam we hardly used woodland camo it was a tigger stripe or mitchle pattern and uniform was OD green or tigger triped. dont say im wrong cuz im right i do vietnam war reenactments my dad was in nam and i studdied that war for years so i new what to get for my uniforn so dont give me any of that bull shit.
@hyunki0510 i comented that a long ass time ago, i did that couse i got tired of retards who think they know everything and try to prove me rong when i'm the one who's right
where did you get the helmet camo and the scrim band? ive been looking for a long time but its hard to find via internet, and the military surpluses around where i live are useless.
lots of vietnam helmets have the covers, it was army standard and it helped the soldiers even more in camo.
and in the covers they usually wrote on them they're names of their GF's, family, initials, or even a little personal touches like my favorite to add: "front towards enemy"
and sometimes the helmet can be considerably more valuable if you find the helmet band with those target markings, it could show the former soldiers confirmed kills ^^ COOL
I feel like the M1 Helmet was used for customization during the Vietnam War..............

The cover is M81 Woodland developed for the Battle Dress uniform in 1981. it is still a primary pattern today! Was not used in vietnam.

Nice helmet, except the woodland camo is 1980s. I have so far been only able to find woodland camo for my vietnam-era helmet.
