@TheCravers3 Well yeah. At your point the best way for you to obtain a house on the Outer Banks is to work your butt off in school. Smart people make a lot more money than dumb ones.
What time of day was that? I usually make it to that stretch around 8-9 am to avoid the heavier stuff. OBX has discouraged me over the past few years with how bad crowds have been. I went to Hatteras Island for years to get away from crowds, but they seemed to have made their way there too. Great video!
if I remember correctly, this was in early afternoon, maybe 2 or 3. Yeah, the Outer Banks aren't like they were in the past. When I first went there it was prety much empty. We usually stay in Duck or Seascape in Kitty Hawk now. We stayed in KDH a couple years ago but migrated north.
In the 80's and 90's, I made this drive a lot! That drive was mostly a 3-lane drive, soon after Hickory and into Currituck, so I was surprised to see all the lanes. Thanks for recording this and putting it up!
I know exactly what you mean. Back in the late 70's when I first went there you had to drive through Great Bridge and the traffic was bad. It's still bad now, maybe worse, but with more lanes. Glad you appreciated the video.
They built the Chesapeake Expressway about 10 years ago to bypass Battlefield Blvd (now Bus168) because traffic clogged the entire Great Bridge area every weekend. The Chesapeake Expressway is quite short, maybe 10 miles at best and the toll is $2.
I was puzzled so I went back and watched this again. The only cops in this was the one on the left with the tourist pulled, and the car parked on the side. Were there cops standing somewhere in here that I am completely missing? You have me worried.
it is so hard to imagine that with all that farmland, you are only an hour or 2 from the beach!! love the OBX!

@vbdenny good deal! As someone who lives in Grandy, I was thoroughly offended by this omission. :P
iheartwalle 7 months ago
@iheartwalle Fully understood. I have driven by there hundreds of times and will be in a few weeks. I won't miss you guys this time.

Never heard of it until looking at your vids, and researching Virginia-based roads (i.e., S.R. 168/Chesapeake Expwy.).

Nice weather there. Been rainy and gloomy all week here :-(

maybe a thunderstorm at night but it is pretty much nice every day in the summer. I would have issues with the gloom.
vbdenny 2 years ago
I like thunderstorms.... but not when I'm on my bike!

Gotta love driving stick eh? :) I drive stick myself (I have actually never driven an automatic transmission car), and I like it.
Diesel is better though, my car gets 45 - 48 mpg. Better than some 15 mpg gas guzzler.

yeah Chris. Many of the Carolina boys drive huge 4x4's that get around 12
