  • i came here expecting a wubwub :D

  • On what planet was this a true story?

  • this is very cool, billy jack is awesome

  • I love this movie. The ending tears me apart. But still, thanks for reminding me of it! :)

  • I love this movie. Thanks for reminding me of it! :)

  • Great! BUT also I vote intro is way too long!

  • strong bare feet and the right to bare right arms, thats what this is!

  • This movie really upset me. I mean the way the Native Americans are treated. I was ashamed of my race ( I'm a European mongrel ( Irish, Scottish, English, German)).

  • @SaiyanLady I fully accept that we mistreated the Indians. But really? The sugar thing? Right outside a reservation? The Ice Cream vendor looking at five transactions? Great scene, but a a whole bunch of NO...

  • @Hister333 you were not alive in the sixties, obviously, when this movie was made.

  • @tabs24x7Official And you were? You'd go to the local ice cream shop, and see people pour flour on the heads of indians, after the vendor refused to serve them?

  • @Hister333 Yes, I was born in 1960. I did not have anyone pour flour on my head, but as a Cherokee I did get a lot of prejudice before the American Indian Movement and the Civil Rights Movement. :D Billy Jack is fictional, though. I do wish the lynchings, hate crimes and discrimination people of color experienced was fictional.

    Tabby's mom

  • Billy Jack is one bad mofo

  • @BJJHap HELLO!? Have you ever even seen the movie?!

  • I can't believe this song only charted at #26, I thought this would be a Top 10 hit cause it received a good amount of airplay on the Oldies stations back in the 1990s

  • It's an amazing story. I remember listening to the song when it came out. I think it was recorded by 2 groups.

  • MONTREAL MAN !!!!

  • We sure need a lot more people like BIlly Jack, more than ever !

  • I sang this to my kids when they were young. Now another generation has learned what happened there.

  • Its not a true story. Sheesh!

  • 0:44 ftw

  • "True story"?

  • Billy Jack is needed in the small town of Quartzsite, AZ right NOW!

search "Quartzsite, AZ" here on YouTube and see a real life Billy jack type battle going on.

""When police break the law there is no law, only a fight for survival" - Billy Jack

  • 666 SATAN 666

  • after about a 10 minute intro...

  • GOD BLESS YOU TOM YOU WERE GREAT IN THIS

  • Tom didn't do his own fighting.......... It was a martial artist stunt double. Do some homework before you drink and post !

  • @jrushmen The fight scenes were done by a Korean Bong So Han. I studied under one of his students. He was a great teacher. I only wish he were still around I would send my kids to him for lessons.

  • @shelbycharger Thank you so much for clarifiing my point. For the lifeof me , i couldn't remember the Martial Artist's name - peace !

  • HA! Remember when people thought it was coll to be an Indian, until they realized they had less rights than anyone.

  • TOM LAUGHLIN WAS WAY AHEAD OF HIS TIME...HE DID ALL HIS OWN FIGHTING...BEFORE BRUCE LEE..CHUCK NORRIS...AND ANY OTHER WANNA BE'S THESE DAYS

  • Damn it, nothing's changed!

  • @samuelducanada How very true, and nothing ever will unless we put our heads together and do something about it!

  • Got to see Billy Jack goes to Washington. It was SO politically correct that Big Brother put a stop to its release. Now years later it's available on dvd. Thank you Tom !!

  • haha the intros like half the video! XD

  • Jinx Dawson kicked butt on vocals!! This is the best version of this song!!!!

(The movie rocked too ! )

  • @MichaelGaribaldi

A very un-Coven like song if there ever was.

  • BULLSHIT!

  • This movie made this thirteen yr old take heed on on what was happening in our country and to see the positive and negatives in our ways of life. My oldest brother was fixing to go off to war in vietnam , but we pulled out before he was called up. Thank God ! We Americans are a war induced nation because it got us freedom from British colony rule and we carried it with us to gain land for the States we have now. But we train every day for war in the military or a football field.

  • Very memorable and moving ending..

    Really hard to forget ;)

  • He's putting that foot RIGHT upside their heads.

  • i am a blackfeet from the montana range, this is ours, we shared the land, you did not ask our permission

  • @sniper1971able And I totally agree with you. I may be a European mongrel (Irish, Scottish, English, and German) but the way they treated the Native Americans in the beginning of this movie at the ice cream shop made me so mad I couldn't watch the rest of it. It makes me sick to think of the way my forefathers treated your people.

  • @sniper1971able and who did you take it from?

  • OMG... I saw it when it came out. Don't remember exactly what theater it was in here in Kenosha, WI.. Probably either the Lake theater or the Roosevelt theater.. Again, It was new at the time I saw it...

  • I would love to see a video or live performance of Coven and this tune. I actually caught this movie in the theater.

  • @iriegnome hello there, my name is Alva, and I would like to know in what theater you saw this movie if you don't mind. Thank you. If you don't mind letting me know then please send your response to my e-mail and once again, thank you for your time. I appreciate it very much. Alva@Honduras.com

  • great movie,love this song.dig the hat

  • I just see this as the ultimate antiwar folk song. This was set in the back drop of civil right leaders assinations and the Kennedys assination and the Viet Nam War.

  • i have read all these comments. billy jack was from my day the late 60's & early 70's. to look at this video and to hear the song is to look for the message not the mess. unless you came from my generation only then can you understand. but then every generation has their turn in the history books.

  • Billy Jack kicked ass! This video gives me chills. *raising fist victoriously* ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @jaketequilla1 i dont think so. billy jack was what we need today. an attitude not an altitude

  • Billy Jack was my hero when I was about five years old. Didn't know if he was a father figure, or a heartthrob? Doesn't matter........I love him, and I'd like to see him in a showdown with Chuck Norris.

(By the way... this is from my g/f) . ;-)

  • MAKE THE INTRO SHORTER PLEASE...

  • agreed

  • @Mouthymouth994 hahahaha

  • @Mouthymouth994 No kidding. 45 seconds to get to the music.

  • @Mouthymouth994 i agree intro is way to long

  • Typical Jewish propaganda. Whatever the movie is about there always has to be a backdrop of Anglo brutality. The Anglo males did mistreat the Indians but the Indians were offered positions in the fold of advanced white civilizations. Besides, we are taught that the Indians were helpless victims when in reality they were formidable foes that were skilled in warfare. They were just casualties of Anglo advancement.

  • @soakthisup What in the hell are you talking about!?????

  • @STARAXE1A - Do you have a headache sweetie? All that thinking can do that to you.

  • @soakthisup No I don't have a headache! The true Native American people were constantly lied to by the U.S. government, not to mention having their ancestral lands taken by force! We the white people started all the crap, and if you don't believe that, your deluded...! And no I'm not Jewish, but what do the the Jews have to do with it?

  • @STARAXE1A - They were just casualties of white advancement. It's called natural selection. Besides, you may want to have more than a tenuous knowledge of history before laying all of mankind's transgressions at the feet of 'white people'. I'm so sick of arguing with brainwashed suburbanites with one foot in a Justin Beiber concert and the other in a community college social science classroom.

  • @soakthisup It seems the community college set has more brains than you. Natural selection is a biological theory- it has NOTHING to do with a military conquering of Indian tribes. Tne only "transgression" discussed here is the is the FACTUAL taking of Indian land by force!

Tell me, smartass, when did whites "advance" ...the hundred years war, the english civil war, or the revolutionary war? Apparently we haven't:....We have had 2 World wars since!

  • @brokenhoghead - How whites advanced is self evident to even the most feeble minded. You chime out the same pedantic, college textbook, boilerplate 'white man is evil' shit that's been repeated since the counter culture 'revolution'.

As far as the last World War, I think we should of joined the National Socialists and defeated the Bolsheviks. If we had, idiots like you wouldn't exist. Now go listen to your Wishbone Ash albums and dream of 1970.

  • Comment removed

  • @soakthisup How whites advance IS NOT self evident. There are many factors, geography being prime. That is NOT the point! The point is conquering a people is NOT "natural selection" (MORON), it's greed. And ALL peoples have shared in that since history has been recorded. Therefore its not "whites" I am discussing:It's US as AMERICANS.

We took land WRONGLY!! .It's that simple. Your comment on joining with the Nazi's shows not only racism but stupidity.Feel free to answer this so I can tell you why.

  • @brokenhoghead The Spanish conquered Mexico. The British conquered the United States. White Americans are the ancestors of the British and Mexicans are the ancestors of the Spanish. The Navajos and the Zapatistas for example are true native peoples of their respective countries.

  • @brokenhoghead As if "god" or "mother nature" decreed that North America was saved for just one race.

Naturally you don't have a problem with American Indians showing up and taking the land away from the species that "owned" it before they got here. And naturally you don't have a problem with various tribes fighting wars with each other and taking land from each other.

The instant "whitey" does it....OUTRAGE!! Racism indeed.

  • @ThePutupafight Wow! Did I say "whitey" or did I say Americans? I think the record shows "Americans". Your comments are a joke .By your logic as long as African tribes fought each other

(Which they did) it was OK for Colonialist European nations to CAPTURE, ENSLAVE and PROFIT from their labor!!!!!!!!! FOR FREE!! Did Indian tribes do that?

No! They simply fought over local disputes for the most part.

See its not "whitey" that did it, its "US" as Americans, but you don't see it that way RACIST

  • when the boots come off.... the ass whopping is comin

    Long Live Billy Jack !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Reminds me of all the great times up at Tauranga Bay in the 70's-J.O.

  • Cowboy Bruce Lee.

  • You must realize that the same government that destroyed the Native American way of life had just destroyed the Southern Confederacy and their people....By the way, they are coming for you next...

  • this the thing

  • Not all of the invaders sins are in the past. Today the invaders seek to dump their nuclear waste on Native lands. The Indian wars are over, despite the continuing skirmishes. Natives still stand in solidarity to protect their peoples and their human rights. I didn't speak this before, but inmate forced my hand, and now i have to go all native on him. Sorry to bear the truths of , Wounded Knee, Ward Valley, Big Mountain....the list continues into our future, and yes, inmate, Ill b there to fight

  • My favorite Indie Movie !

  • wow what a video ,I saw this movie when I was 12 yrs,and still like the song ,,,let the party still go on!!!!

  • @TAXMAN5126

What is your "problem" with the film?

    An "untrue" portrayal of reality?

Well, the "reality" is the "Manifest Destiny" of the United States.

What are /were the commercial reasons for the Billy Jack movie?

    NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your comments are a joke. This country is all about a buck.ALWAYS!!

We took land from Indians and we had slavery.Lay off Billy Jack!!!

  • @brokenhoghead......Pardon me, but WE didn't take land from the Indians, and WE didn't enslave people. If you're gonna blame us for our ancestors' misdeeds, then go ahead and blame US for the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, the Crucifixion, and the ensalvement of israelites in Egypt. I never been nor owned a slave. I've never stolen land from an Indian. And neither have you so STFU already!!!!

  • @inmate24601 No, WE personally did not take land or enslave but "WE" as nation sure as hell did. It's a statement of fact not blame. The other examples given don't apply to the USA and nor to the actual point.

Which is...IT"S SIMPLY A FACT! Add to that another FACT that the vast majority of Indians today live in squallor .

So, instead of telling me to STFU because you feel blamed, you should simply acknowledge how badly wronged they were and continue to endure the effects today. PS BITE ME!

  • @inmate24601 We are still benefactors of the misdeeds of R ancestral countrymen . I don't think it possible to calculate the losses of those descendant from the victims in the past. The responsible thing to do would to insure the descendants of those past victims aren't further victimized, UR mention of past events before there was an USA is a straw man argument.

  • The only good thing about this movie was the this song, and the ground breaking fight scenes with the slow motion effects. Oh, as always with the late 70s to today the bad guy is a white man. Bullshit. One day white people will tire of carrying every sorry ass person. The race card will be stuck up some losers ass.

  • DOSE ANY ONE REMEMBER THIS MOVIE OR IN FACT THE SONG.WHO KNEW THIS WAS BASE ON A TRUE STORY. LONG LIVE BILLY JACK.

  • @mrronman2015 the song was a hit 3 times lauglin had an argument with coven and bleached their faces off the album covers too vindictive ruining his own album covers later he was sued for umpteen millions of dollars because he didnt pay a multitude of people

  • I would feel like a massive dick and just go "TOLD YA SO!" if I was a survivor.

  • was this the origins of the wave?

  • @kalyber1 no, this was not the origin of the wave

  • this isn't a true story.

  • @TAXMAN5126 its a composite character a green beret that interceded when someone was being attacked by a gang and used excessive force and got into trouble [ that was more in the born losers] and a half breed indian named billy jack first played by skip homier in the tall t

  • oops...sorry

  • in a time when individualism was frowned upon, freedom was an illusion sold by politicos, and diversity was still colored black and white. "Black is beautiful" was a controversial slogan, nothing more. Sadly, our generation had only Billy to look at as a portrait of that elite warrior class. Those who fought for us Indians were Dennis Banks, and his contemporaries. Billy belonged to america, the great red warrior to save the white man from himself, and restore liberty to its truer forms.

  • @jimlap4712 but he was aiming his remington at a horse. nevermind it just looked like that. billy jack found more important dead niggers buried in cemetaries by MLK + waterboarded them for their facts in CIA operation Up and Alive Dead Nigger to prevent USA from becomin hippy-ville and delivering nuclear secrets to Timothy Leary WHO WAS stationed in the prison billy jack INTENDED to get sent to. billy jack's hippy fan-base, deceived by black panther party, PLO, and the weathermen.

  • @birdhaldol I'd have a battle of the wits with you, but I cannot take advantage of an unarmed idiot.

  • @jimlap4712

Very nicely said! and the story still rings true today...

  • @jimlap4712 Individualism is still frowned upon.

  • @jimlap4712

    Well said

  • @jimlap4712 "Peace on earth was all it said." Sounds good to me. Ruling classes have to crush that by all means. Or else...no more global plunder, environmental destruction, and dehumanization practices that mark the contemporary reality of the realm. These pigs are trying to commit suicide through us and we have to resist, shun, and de-fang these rapacious creatures and render them harmless, or else we all will perish. Let's get busy, starting with our minds and our consciousness. Then act!

  • @jimlap4712 Yea…that is the only thing the corporate lobbyist understands, a boot to he side of his face. He lives in fear of the masses. Love the confrontation betwees Billy and the corrupt sheriff where the sheriff holds a gun to the hippy girl and says, “you will killer just like that ?”. And Billy says, “NO…you will kill her, and I’ll kill you …JUST LIKE THAT!” classic, and a way we should perceive the corrupt lobbing situation we have now. Vote out the incumbents, they have failed us!

  • Is it odd that we need "good" and "bad" guys? Billy was a combat veteran who wished to be a pacifist. His background as a Native gave the character a non-christian spiritual base. He didn't so much fight 4 the natives, he fought 4 the alternative hippie school, and Jean. He fought 4 those, who by belief, could not fight 4 themselves. That's what a warrior does. The movie what shot right after desegregation in our schools, and the civil rights era. Billy fought 4 true individual freedom.....

  • If people would listen they would learn.

  • he was fighting for our people the native americans in which the usa owes us an apologe for what they have done i am a 1/4 native american who has lived in the white mans world and hate it with a passion the african americans can do what ever they want because of the NAACP where is the help for my people we live in slums worse than any 3rd world country and we r steriotyped as acholics we r not all that way and the ones that r are because of the white man how about helping us obama

  • @danny53733 "We niggers have polluted ancient indian burial grounds with PCBs since we got to this country".-Samuel Jackson. I go on American Indian plantations with sawed off +dowsing rod for CIA. FYI :Many squaws are terrible TexasHoldem Poker players with no pledges of alleigiances. They want to sleep with me while "free bird" is playing to settle up. I have taken arrows in my massive cock and clean christian mind at the same time. Y'all stole my '75 Volvo when i was 16 ! Drinks are on me.

  • great song and video! thanks for sharing it.

  • I hate it because I'm a passivist, but unfortunatley, heads get cracked!!!!!!!!

  • I love this video

  • who sang this?? luv this song... we sing it in choir!!

  • And every one of the kids who raised his/her hands now has a security alarm system, wants a nicer car, lives in a gated community, and watches the Stock Market. Idealism is for kids who don't have to work for a living. This movie was good in many ways, I watched it as a kid. But its message would be SO much longer-lasting if they made the "bad guys" real and not so friggin cartoonishly bad.

  • @proffromgview As a kid who raised her hand then and still does now certainly does not live as you suggest - no gated community, no security system, no stock market, and does work for a living.

  • Great action film !

Rambo ripped off Billy Jack, half breed Indian ex green beret that fights corrupt bully politicians/ police.

  • you spent 45 seconds on titles that should have taken no more than 20 seconds

  • They need to remake this movie

  • This is a classic, I watch Billy Jack about every 2 months. He was my hero. I first saw this movie in a theater. Love You Billy Jack!!

  • Man I love those late 60s counter-culture movies. Billy Jack. Easy Rider. Wild in the Streets. Alice's Restaurant. And of course the granddaddy of 'em all, Woodstock. Man, those were the days.

  • I love this song, and yes, it is true that Coven was a satanic group (check their myspace pages, for Coven and Jinx Dawson) as well as their website. If you think about it, this sure is not a religious song anyway. "Do it in the name of heaven, you can justify it in the end." Pretty obvious it is anti-religion, if anything. Just look for yourself.

  • @corgi4u Because anti religious is,

    a) a bad thing

    and

    b) Satanic.

    Quite a leap there.

  • @KolinKrake Actually, I base the idea that they are satanic from their (both Coven and Jinx Dawson's) Myspace pages, both of which I have friended. As far as anti-religious being a bad thing, no I don't think so. I myself am an atheist. I have no problem w/ what coven is, just that it is funny to see all these people acting like it's religious.

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry dolphinlover46, no truth to the story. Don'rt let that detract from your feelings. But follow true feelings.

  • I guess not too many would have suspected Skeeter Davies, Karen Young, Sonny and Cher or The Voices for Peace for being satanists not to mention all the kids in YMCA camps

  • People shouldn´t bother too much about what satanic intentions Coven may have had with this particular song or not since it´s not their song! It was written atleast 2 years before the movie came out and Coven were invited to make a cover version for that purpose, that is Jinx Dawson singing with the films orchestra as a soundtrack version, then shortly after re-recording it with Coven for their MGM album. It first came out in 1969 with Original Caste, written by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter

  • OK people - SATANISM is a religion that believes that we are rewarded on Earth - no Heaven or Hell.

    Coven

"a gathering of witches," 1662, earlier (c.1500) a variant of covent, cuvent early forms of convent (q.v.). Association with witches arose in Scotland, but not popularized until Sir Walter Scott used it in this sense in "Letters on Demonology and Witchcraft" (1830).

  • any idea where i can get this song?

  • @sweetusamom1979 Gidday there.

After listening to this song after 30 odd years I just had to get it.

I found an album on EBay called One Hit Wonders.

This song is on it, exactly as it is sung here.

I paid about 111 bucks Australian for it.

    I hope this assists you.

    Pete

  • @sweetusamom1979 Sorry Sport that was supposed to be 11 dollars Australian.

  • This movie totally rocked! This is the best version of this song. Original caste sounds folky, Cher f*cked up the song, Jinx rocked it!

  • Hey, scrub the beginning credits, it's takes way too long to start.

  • i love this song with all of my heart. so hard to sing but sooooooooo cool

  • This movie is The Legend of Billy Jack, which was a groundbreaking classic back in the day. Think Die Hard!

  • This song & movie sure takes me back to the good old days : )

  • Why doesn't Tom McLaughlin ever do any more movies? Where are all the Billy jack movies? You never see them on television.

  • A classic!!! God Bless Billy Jack!!! Carry On!!!

  • ...Thank you veteran 37 - You restored my illusion of valor....Your a stinker, but most honorable at the least....

  • Gotta love the movie and this song is the cherry on top since it brings all the values that were held to heart in the creation of the film.

  • Very Good Song & Movie from 1971!

  • i'm pretty sure, maybe in memory of Billy Jack, either way, the Montessori (s) were Built.

    it's allll so cool.!!

  • Best coming of age vid for me.

  • I was in the audience in New York City the night that Billy Jack received its first test screening on the East coast by Tom Laughlin. I was 19 or 20, in college. There was zero marketing and no one knew what to expect. It was sandwiched in between Gumshoe with Albert Finney and The Beatles' Let It Be. Bottom line, the audience went completely crazy and cheered wildly at the end. The rest is history. That its values now seem so dated to me only proves how badly I've sold out.

  • Long live Billy Jack!!! Great movies given the low budget.

  • Great Movie reminds of my dad introducing me to it. Miss ya dad.

  • wasn't biily jack the savior or the indian race?

  • wow ... that brought back memories ... when i was a kid, billy jack was my hero ... i saw all the movies and read all the books ... looking back now, i can see all the 1970's liberal, leftist spinning ... (the mean white old men and the cool diverse young kids, the black panthers 'defiant fist' salute ... lol ... but at the end of the day, billy jack was a pretty cool hero for a young kid like me .. thanks for posting!!!!!!!

  • Love it!

  • i don't know much about the band. nor ever seen the movie. but this song is awesome, story is so deep.

  • I agree, this is a "Comming of age song/movie". But, still and all lets admit it. Those "Valley Folk" Are "Always after me lucky charms" !

  • This was very much a coming-of-age song and movie for my generation. The rest of you can FO.

  • I find it hilarious that a Satanic singer chose to cover a song that has a basic Christian message. Not a bad song either.

  • Most ppl dont realize that "Billy Jack" was not the first or last "Billy Jack" movie..... There are 4 "Billy Jack" movies...

The 1st was "The Born Losers" Staring Tom Laughlin as Billy Jack.. The 2nd was Billy Jack.. The 3rd was The Trial of Billy Jack ( My Fav ) & Last BUT Not least Billy Jack Goes To Washington... ALL GREAT MOVIES ..... Check them out

    Peace

  • This is the movie that started the karate craze in America. Most think it was Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon. Billy Jack is what really started it all.

  • These are real liberals not the socialist loving lefties you see running around screaming change change change.

    Classic liberals

  • Make Your Childrren.. Watch This Movie.. from 1970z.

my mom made me.....i'm glad she did, ever since. and probly 4ever.

  • The indians were willing to share all that they had but we had to have it all. In the end we will have nothing NOT EVEN PEACE ON EARTH

  • I think the original version (by the band "The Original Caste") is better..........

  • That guy's Chuck Norris before there was Chuck Norris

  • wasnt the singer of this song a satanist lol

  • the members of Coven dabbled in satanism that is true..

  • true story my ass!!!!!!!!!!! dork

  • There He Is..... in the Flesh......Billy Jack.
