@qtfire as it hought then.. Thanks for the reply. Do they only carry the one ladder on each appliance or is it 3 like in the UK? we carry a 135 extension ladder, an A frame 2 section ladder and a tripple extension ladder...all 'lightweight' alloy
lol thats an air raid siren hahahha love it tho wish our ones in england use it likes of london everyone would deffo move out the way unlike the piercer on we have
Good vid. Not so sure about changing the siren - aside from the nostalgia, these sirens convey the urgency very well, which a lot of newer sirens don't.
Sounds like the one in Kaikoura..and would you believe a stupid bitch from Australia recently complained that it woke her up and she couldn't get back to sleep. ''Didms!.''...first class drongo.....
damm i almost fell out of my seat!!!! had the volume up loud on my comp thinking it be hard to hear..lol.. how wrong was i..lmao.. the siren at my station, OKAIAWA in south taranaki goes off 6 times.. our neighbours are good as though.. we even have some that will go to our station if it goes off in the middle of the nyte & start up our truck and reset the siren for us because they beat us to the station..lol..
yep we have to reset the siren after every call out..we are a rural brigade so almost all our guys are farmers and i guess on average it takes around 3 to 4 min to get a full crew.. we also have pagers that go off on the 2nd "rise" of the siren.. even thou we are only a single pump station we still average between 90 and 120 calls a year as we have 3 other volunteer stations withn 10 min drive and 99% of the time we backup them..
All depends on where it is.More rural towns with bad pager coverage may go for longer. But Lytteltons close to Christchurch city and is a good sized town so they use may only use 4 blast to limit nosie complains in the town. Some volly brigades just have pager turnout now days.
The schedule I have says Lyttelton are to get a type 2 in September this year but doesn't mention a new type 1. But then this same schedule mentions nothing about Christchurch 217 getting a new type 3 so it can change :-)
what is the first siren ?

I'm glad that they have a paid department where I live. Hearing that go off would scare the crap out of me every time! Nice video.

Wow, the fire signal in England is Almost EXACTLY the same as the in America .
Nice Carter. I think It might need some oil on the bearings though, sounds a little too low .

Does Lyttleton's siren get used for things other than just letting the volunteer brigade know they have a job to do? Like tsunami warning and such?
