i sat watching the movie on a couch, towards the end i was so drawn into it someone got up next to me and left and i didnt notice until the credits started up.

For everyone asking, the concept of the movie is pretty simple...Nina goes crazy from the pressure and anxiety of becoming the swan. She hallucinates most of the parts of the movie:Beth stabbing herself, the sex scene, the part where she kills Lily. Now there's a possibility Nina killed herself...but the way the director had it portrayed:Nina hallucinated the glass scene. She got her period for the "first" time, representing her growing out of the innocent childlike person she was.

That Nina goes crazy from the role, but at the VERY beginning of the movie, she sees her doppelganger while she's on the train, and finds that it's mimicking her every move (turns out to be lily). I think her mother stated that she's was scratching her shoulders again, implying that it's happened before. I believe that the role definitely pushed her over the edge, but she did show evidence that she had mild schizophrenia before the movie started.

Hey Phil I saw the movie and i agree with your analysis of the film. thanks for the review. This was one of those films that you really prove and man oh man "bitch be crazy" sums it up. That being said I think it is appropriate that the film is getting all the recognition that it is.

It doesn't matter whether it 'really happened' or not, because it's a fictional portrait of an idea.

Like in Inception, all that discussion on whether it falls or not is useless, because the movie is about the subjectivity of reality.
