i think wilt chamberlain should be better known than jordan. wilt holds like 6 league records, jordan hold like one.wilt should be known as the best ever! chamberlain>anyother nba player
Hakeem moves astoundingly fast for a center. Look at 2:16 how the guard has a massive lead on him and is already running when Hakeem was at center court caught by surprise. Yet he still managed to block it.
Chamberlain back to back blocks of the "unstoppable" skyhook. It was stoppable all right, that's from the WCF and Wilt blocked Jabbar FIVE TIMES that game
nba refs are bunch of little bitches. If you touch a superstar its a foul, cuz in the nba there is NO way kobe can miss a layup unles he got fouled, but anyone else gets hammered and its no call.
@arickwon Real talk My Nigga... The one handed floater is the reason why blocks went down inthe nba. You cant time them shits and after release your gonna hit somebody's hand smh!!
damn I love watching blocks like this :D can't really put blocks infront of dunks, mostly because I saw like every possible VC dunk and that's like...poetry...but ye blocks are definetely a close 2nd for me...blocking can be so nasty sometimes, and the players probably get more hyped up if there's a monster block compared to a monster dunk...then again I might be wrong, but that's just my perspective...
Actually, that's Manute Bol, the tallest NBA player. He stood 7'7 and famous for playing with Muggsy Bogues, the shortest player in NBA who stands 5'5, in Washington Bullets.
@dllckc I totally agree that blocks are better than dunks. There is nothing more emotionally shunting for the other team or enlivening for yours than a huge block, especially those that give your team the ball back instead of one going out in the stands or to another player on the opposing team, unless of course you block that one too ;-)
I'm 5’7 white and can dunk. Wtf you mean white guys can’t jump? It's just about the training people do to get their leg strength to be strong enough to dunk. For me, I personally used the training program over at snipurl[dot]com/nbatraining
First, "Hakeem give, and well, Hakeem taketh away" is awesome. Second, the Celtics fast break starting at :46 should have made it somewhere on the 100 Greatest Plays- Teamwork video.
man russell had blocking down to a science what a beast most people are stupid and just slap it into the 3rd row, lotta good that does its still their ball you gotta block it and get it
Good point, I often make that point on Lebron block video. He's very athletic but often just swaps the ball out of bounds, a waste when he has a chance to control it or at least keep it in play so his team can get it.
no. not at all. lebron had some nice blocks, but nothing to make top 10 all time. alot of these occured at big moments, not just on some random fast break
@ajones68 hahaha i know i've seen almost all of em and hes on every one. it does get pretty boring seeing him again....but....u gotta admit he deserves to be on almost everyone of them too. one of the many reasons why he is the greatest is because he's made at least one of the greatest plays in basically EVERY aspect of the game! so is it a jordan cocksuck fest? yes. can u blame em? no
although I like the blocks of today - I feel back then blocking was moer used as a way to transition the ball not to make a spectacle. Like Bill russel blocked the ball so he could gain posession of it and continue the play.
Kareem's Sky Hook shot is the strongest offensive weapon in NBA. It's very rare to block this shot. Only tall guys like Malone and Chamberlain can block it sometimes.
#6 should be number 1, and #3 should be #2, and #1 should be #3. That's if the list is based off degree of difficulty. When i see a center chase down a guard from the opposite free throw line to get the block is pretty amazing
The Jordan block came from Game 6 of the 1989 Eastern semifinals, if I remember right. Jordan's Bulls eliminated the favored Knicks 4 games to 2, and advanced to the East Finals versus the powerhouse Detroit Pistons who beat them in six games.
The Bulls were just 47-35 that season and should not even have gone that far. But in the first round, Jordan made that tremendous gamewinner in the final game (THE SHOT) versus the Cavs (who were 57-25 and a title fav), and the rest is history.
