I quoted the guy in the vid saying "you can`t outrun it". My advice is more to getting out of its way if, (like in this vid) its daytime and you have a clear view of it. When it comes to F4 or F5 events, very few structures can stand a direct hit, so your rolling the dice either way.
"you can`t out run a tornado like that?" YES YOU CAN and should if you don`t have a good deep basement. If you ever have clear sight of one of these motherfuckers coming out you, get in the car and get out of its way!!!
@mdo686 unless it catches up with your car. and it could easy. and if that happens and your in your car then YOUR FUCKED. but in the end i think it come down to. dont live in trailer park in a place infamous for tornadoes
@mdo686 Finding a safe place is a number one priority. Unless there is literally no where to go, then would you try to outrun it, which in many cases would be impossible.
@dewboy910 Hello, a fellow Kansan from Leavenworth.
A tornado stronger than an F3 can rip concrete to pieces, There's even been house made of Bricks, Concrete, you name it depends on how strong a tornado is it doesnt matter what you use to build a house out of a tornado can level it to the ground.
@Yoshi14832 I wrote Concrete, not Masonry or bricks. A properly built CONCRETE house wouldn't budge. I don't think even an F5 would phase a concrete building. I'm not talking about a buidling with just concrete columns with the exterior built of brick, block, or stucko. I'm talking about rebar reinforced concrete walls, roof, and framework(with some steel I-beams as roof supports. I don't think you realize how strong concrete is.
@dewboy910 If F4's and F5's were string enough to blow away solid concrete buildings, then we probably wouldn't have any mountains left after millions of years of Tornados. Everthing would be flat.
@dewboy910 Kansas does not have mountains, there are hills and even if the building was made out of Concrete depending on how reinforce the concrete is it might stand a chance you right, but have you seen Tornado Aftermath with you own eyes? Tuscaloosa, Joplin, Greensburg, ect tornadoes can in fact destroy concrete and everything else, hell even a house bulid like you said was destroyed by a tornado. Remeber, after years of Rain,Sleet hail, ect it wears down the strength. :O
@dewboy910 look at the concrete buildings in Greensburg, KS once... oh wait, they all got obliterated as well. They were not blown down by the winds. They were pulverized, piece by piece from debris hitting them. I don't think you realize how strong an EF-5 tornado is. I surveyed the Oakfield, WI F5 in 1996. It literally cut a concrete canning factory building in half. It threw a Pontiac Grand-Am over 1000m from the garage it was parked in. Just like the desciption says "incredible phenomena"
@ProfessorIgor well dang. Now I know why there are no mountains in Kansas. lol. Even the wimpy eco-block Concrete homes withstand up to 240 MPH winds.(homes refered to below):
watch?v=yJalzh1YITk&feature=player_embedded
But a true100% standard form poured concrete building can withstand alot more. I'm not picking on your Tornados. They are very impressive. But there is a reason they build bomb shelters/bunkers out of formed/reinforced concrete. Because it works.
I'll take tornadoes over hurricanes in the east and south.. and the unpredictable earthquakes and volcano in the west (I would never live on the west coast because of that unpredictability, at least tornadoes, blizzards, hurricanes, etc. have warnings and watches and whatnot).. and the blizzards in the north.
America is just fucked when it comes to natural disasters. xD
@alchemicrb It would be better to lie?He simply told her the hard facts of life when living in Kansas. This kid will go through life understanding that sometimes things suck and you just have to face it as opposed to whinning and crying evertime something seems unfair.
@animegirlkadaj That's arguably the best footage of a tornado, up close, in the history of storm filming...as you said, it's a miracle that the tornado didn't slightly shift its course, because that would have been it...
I live in Oklahoma and have to look forward to the possibility of many tornadoes every year... you wouldn't believe how strong the wind blows against the trees when a tornado is reported over 100 miles away. Thank God there's an underground cellar near my house!
@shannon14748 A tornado can touch down anywhere honey, The tornado alley for example is called that b/c that is where most of the strong tornado's touch down. Just last yr Massachusetts was hit by a tornado, and the people there said the same thing that you said here. Just don't think that it can't happen b/c it can.
You guys need to build some mountains around you. Actually, I don't know how you can deal with tornados. Isn't it impossible to relax and enjoy a storm? I live where we are at high risk for earthquakes (so far we have been lucky-knock on wood), but I don't know how you live with the risk of tornados. You are brave people to be able to deal with them and ten rebuild. Amazing. (I think that Heather's dad should be comforting her rather than photographing the tornado, but who am I to talk? A mom.

Right or wrong, that's the state of it. We own it. You don't. It's been that way for a couple of centuries at this point. Also, b) Chief Seattle (sorry if I misspelled this) said himself, "The land does not belong to us; we belong to the land." Are you saying he's wrong?

@pikeboy7 Come surfing with me pikeboy, ill make you a believer hahahaha, you'll be praying in toung's crying to God for a wale to swallow you hahaha XD personally, as as a surfer of 18years, i know the power of nature first hand. Maybe this dad knows the one who holds the world in his hands ^ ^
@pikeboy7 So you give them false hope? That's like telling your child they are good at something when they are not. When you should encourage them to work at it and get better. At least give them real hope. Give them something to hope for. Let them know that they should put their trust in God.
the dad knew it was already to late to take action, he was however smart enough to get the camcorder and get as much on as he could and then maybe take shelter once it arrived, you have to remember these are virtually once in a lifetime events and its pretty important to document them the best you can
Leave the Dad alone for fucks sake, he's right, you don't get in a car and try to run from it, the only thing you can do is take shelter. She has to learn that.
@MetalHeadKLR650 I think she knew that. It was just that she meant to get to a shelter. (which is what everyone is supposed to do. but obviously not everyone does.)
and if she didn't then I can't exactly defend her. The dad was right in that sense
I remember this tornado as a kid. This was the beginning of what started the passion of meteorology for me. I go to college as I speak for an atomo/met degree. To this day this video lives in my heart and soul. "Thank you".
DONT READ THIS CAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORKS YOU WIL GET KISSED ON THE NEAREST PSSIBLE BY THE LOVE OF YOU YOUR LIFE TOMMOROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE. HOWEVER IF YOU DONT POST THIS TO 5 VIDEOS IN 143 MINUTES YOU WILL DIE WITHIN 2 DAYS. NOW YOU HAVE STARTED READING THIS DONT STOP. THIS IS SO SCARY.PUT THIS ON 5 VIDEOS IN 143 MINUTES WHEN YOU ARE DONE PRESS F6 AND YOUR LOVERS NAME WILL APPEAR ON THE SCREEN IN BIG LETTERS. THIS IS SO SCARY CAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORKS
one of the most fascinating vid in the history of tornado videos from 4:28 to 5:08. man i wish the owner of the video would post more of it on youtube or something.. Ive seen the same clip a million times and would love to see at least 5 more minutes of that particular recording.. every time i see that clip thats the same one they use ' time wise' everytime...
so beautiful...........but i don't like when they destroy people's houses. >.> if they were harmless, i'd love tornadoes :D but they're my greatest fear now... O_O
ooooh its coming! "dad where we gonna go" there aint no place to go you cant run from one of them..... SHIT THE BED I! WOULD THROW UP IF MY DAD TOLD ME THAT. thanx for the kind comforting words pops!!
oh my god you are a darn father how could you do that cant u just see your little girl she almost died of the horrer if i was there in that place i would just do anything to get outta there
Most tornado's travel in a northeast direction. If you know which way the tornado is moving and your location from it, i think i would take a chance a try to run.
aw, poor thing! that little girl was so scared. what the hell is up with that dad? "you cant run from these things" oh yeah, thats what we all wanna hear. tell your daughter that you cant get away from these things, is saying youre gonna die. yesos maria.
That's bullshit, they say u can't run from a tornado when it's going 50 miles per hour, then shouldn't that give u a hint to get in your car and go 80 miles per hour?
1:40, Daughter: "Daddy where we going to go" Father: "You are going to die".

Dad: "Honey we are going to get into that little closet and pray that pieces of debris flying at ridiculous speeds won't kill us."
Seriously worse dad ever.

@pikeboy7 I agree with you i'd run for my life or try to go somehwere safe.

@pikeboy7 Atleast he's honest.
mik0logy 4 weeks ago
@mik0logy True, but sometimes being honest to a terrified child isn't the best thing.
pikeboy7 4 weeks ago
@pikeboy7 So you give them false hope? That's like telling your child they are good at something when they are not. When you should encourage them to work at it and get better. At least give them real hope. Give them something to hope for. Let them know that they should put their trust in God.
SenzafineEterno 4 weeks ago
the dad knew it was already to late to take action, he was however smart enough to get the camcorder and get as much on as he could and then maybe take shelter once it arrived, you have to remember these are virtually once in a lifetime events and its pretty important to document them the best you can
Skankpronger 3 months ago
Leave the Dad alone for fucks sake, he's right, you don't get in a car and try to run from it, the only thing you can do is take shelter. She has to learn that.
MetalHeadKLR650 3 months ago
@MetalHeadKLR650 I think she knew that. It was just that she meant to get to a shelter. (which is what everyone is supposed to do. but obviously not everyone does.)
and if she didn't then I can't exactly defend her. The dad was right in that sense

I remember this tornado as a kid. This was the beginning of what started the passion of meteorology for me. I go to college as I speak for an atomo/met degree. To this day this video lives in my heart and soul. "Thank you".

Most tornado's travel in a northeast direction. If you know which way the tornado is moving and your location from it, i think i would take a chance a try to run.
