I tried to think of what makes us so lucky to live in the U.S., and those human beings so unlucky to live where they do... Many would say, this why I do not believe in GOD. How can a GOD let those kids suffer! I say, this is why a I believe in GOD. This why I believe in HIS democracy. HE allows us to represent and vote to change this world, even if by the action of one. HE has given us the gift and power of emotion, empathy, compassion, and pain of the heart and soul.
Our social studies teacher showed us this video in class. Now we're doing an entire project on this. We're making flyers on what we should change to make the world a better place and putting them up around our neighborhood<3
so i am confused did the video cost $150,000 or $15. It says both.?? It makes a huge difference. I mean i would think 15 but idk. It's a shame what the world is coming to with production. with the amount of money going into peoples videos and movies we probably could end world hunger. When are we going to realize that the earth is everyones home, not just 1 nation. Wake up world and see the view God has. She did her own hair and makeup, paid $15 for videotape and convinced everyone involved to donate their time. Her record company gave her half of the $ ($75,000?) and I assume the rest of the $ came from Sarah and/or the other people involved. That money went to various organizations which provided all the things mentioned in the video.
Thank you Ms. McLachlan for doing what you could. If each of us shared your compassion then there would be far less desperate need in the world. Peace.

@willthis1do I think if we kept everything as it was meant to be, we'd live in a very boring place, think outside the box! as Sarah has done here, even if it's not to remind us I think it's just to prove a point that instead of spending loads of money doing a video, all that money went to something useful and yeh sure, we don't have a lovely video to look at, but in return we get a beautiful meaningful song! :)

I understand the message of the video. And I appreciate what Sarah wanted to point out about poorer countries. But I wish she could have done a more theatric video for this song. The song is so powerful and profound. And to make the video alittle more then a infomercial doesn't do this song justice.
But I still love this song.

That is just amazing!!! some of you may dissage on what im about to say about gaga or some other big star, but if all of the people did what she just did with thier songs and music videos and donated all that money to people who really needed it, think about how much better the world would be.

Wow, this video really keeps me motivated on my dream I have had for a while, to go to med school and join Doctors Without Borders. I've cried for people I have seen and read about. Whether it be child abuse cases in America, homeless, wartorn countries, child soldiers, starving people, or even the "less" tragic things, like a broken heart, I've always wanted to help. I want to help the world be what it can be,

Its cute how everyone wants change, but when that change has to start with war everyone but a few good backs down with their tails between their legs. It is naive to think you can solve all of the worlds problem with out a fight. There are men with power out killing their people to stay on top and they will not back down without a fight. Unless you take those men off their throne, they will take that money you willingly gave them to feed their people and use it to do more horrific things with it

They shouldn't even exist but the Devil led people into temptation and now we have famine, sickness, war, death, etc. If people just learned to overlook someone's differences and embrace them for what they are and gave up the bad and wicked ways of their heart then we could actually live in peace. And why is it such a bad thing to want peace? It's not too much to ask for!

If you get mad at someone and throw a brick at their head or something, they're gonna be angry and want revenge, and so they do something to 'get even' and then you just retaliate and more get involved and then it just never stops! War creates war, which creates death and destruction. And most of the deaths in a war are innocent civilians so tell me what is right with that?!

I love Sarah McLachlan's music, it is so moving and touching and inspiring. It seems a known fact though that most people who 'give' are those living in the struggling middle class lifestyle or below. My older sister actually had a decent idea that I believe won't ever be; she said if everybody in the world pooled their money together and distributed it evenly then nobody would be poor.

I read a while back it would cost about 13 billion (US) to feed all of the starving people in the world AND provide basic sanitation for one year. Apparently that is the same amount the people of the US & EU spend each year on perfume! If every person living in the 'developed' (wealthy) countries gave, say 10% of our incomes to charity, we could change the world beyond belief.

I love this video... I would much rather watch this than anything else. Sarah McLachlan... Ugh... I've loved her music for so many years and this just made me love her music even more. She passed on the message in such a blunt way... no hidden messages or agendas. It's what makes her a unique person, to become famous and use that to help others instead of becoming another messed up druggy, Fame can corrupt, but she is one strong lady.

World spend more money in defense than in people. Capitalism is not the cause of poverty. The issue is the human being. Humans want accumulate, not share. See Indian's government. They spend billions in that war against Pakistan, while their people don't have what to eat. See African countries. They change diamonds for guns for sustaining tribal conflicts. Finally, see us, we are avid for being billionaires while we cross the streets and see the abism. I think we have part on this too.

When you do right by your children and they see you doing right, you enable their freedom as individuals. Look at what is going on here in the USA, selfishness breeds contempt and intolerance. I am really worried about our nation in the next 10 -20 years, So much of the world lacks accountability-it is convenient to excuse away our behaviours.

I used to when I was younger but now I have learned how to live with my means. Even if I had more money I don't need 2 homes or boats. Even if I Had more money I don't need 20 new outfits every year or 50 pairs of shoes. Everyone needs to learn to share the resources we have. It is not like they are scarce!
