  • my right ear is lonely

  • 5:48 PHEW

  • Clockwork Orange got banned instead of this?

  • 2:25 - statistically speaking, 478 people who watched this went 'Dat Ass.'

  • I think that stuff should be tested on prisoners, we've got plenty of them! The torture of innocent animals is unnecessary!

  • @Japanesebanzai52

What do you think of films like Cannibal Holocaust? it shows animals actually getting killed including a large river turtle getting beheaded then dearmed then ripped opened from it's shell as we see it's insides. Any thoughts on that?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Never seen it before, doesn't sound pretty though :P

  • @Johnlindsey289 Well, that wasn't a cartoon.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Didn't they do that for food?

  • @TimothoNuva

Yes which they actually did but Deoato regrets killing real animals for his film and there is an animal cruelty free version which cuts out the stuff, i'm a meat-eater but i don't actually want to see animals getting killed for real on film for the sake of entertainment.

  • @Japanesebanzai52 i find it fitting that a japanese person would say that

  • @SirHungryHippo I'm not even Japanese! I made my account when COD world at war was popular

  • 3:50 actually this happens on a zebra crossing - Snitter sees his master leaving and follows him and runs to the zebra crossing all playfully when there's suddenly that car ...

  • @Raegh thats the center white lines

  • if animals dont get tested then the humans do if absolutely necessary testing id rather c it done on an animal for imp research

  • i understand the use of animal testing, but it makes me sick. Some scientists are unecessarily cruel to animals. either way, dark but good movie.

  • Does anyone know if they released the song at 8:13 in the soundtrack?

  • Trippy

  • 4:08 that's when I got diagnosed with clinical depression!

  • Not all animal testing is bad people. Remember that. It's when the testing involves pointless cruelty and unnecessary pain is when it get's bad. They have to treat the animals well and with care, they can't do stupidly pointless tests like "What will happen if I stab this dog in the face? Hmmm..." So the tests should be for necessary reasons and cause the animals as little pain as possible, and if it must cause the animal pain, it must be done in the most "humane" way possible.

  • @JACEH123 The truth of the matter is that people that preform animal testing are worthless nobodies that'll die lonely men and women at old age. If I came across somebody who preformed animal testing and he or she asked me for a glass of water, I'd tell them to take a hike!

  • @thehoosierfortheUK Any animal testing at all? Even the things that cause absolutely no harm to the animal, or deprive it of anything in anyway, or mistreat it?

  • @JACEH123 Is it then testing? The concept is to try out things at animals and see their reactions. Sometimes the reactions are bad and sometimes they're not... My point is that you can't predict the reaction, cus if you could, then why would you need testing? It is not right for us to trap animals and use them like that for our own sake. Humans are not a endangered species so why the heck so we have to find cures for everything?

  • @Mortenstegneserie i think because we dont like to get sick and stay 2 weeks in bed while our head hurts like it was stabbed, and we wish to know MOAR about everything

  • @Mortenstegneserie u wudnt say that if u had AiDS or a father or daughter with cancer.

  • Comment removed

  • @DanishSub ummm ok then dont use medications all meds have been tested on animals dont use shampoo, deodorant, glue, i can go on....its selfish not to use some sort of animal testing

  • Comment removed

  • @Mortenstegneserie Okay then. Next time you fall ill, or in fact any of your relatives or friends, don't use any medication whatsoever. No painkillers, no tablets, no syrup. Hell, never use a bandaid again.

Oh and don't use any more soap, shampoo, handwash, toothpaste, antiseptics, parfume, make-up, and even any synthetic items. They've all been tested on animals.

  • @JACEH123 psychology does a lot of pointless testing

  • Annie Mossity . I hate her.

  • And this is why you do NOT buy products tested on animals, kids.

  • @meaganfarr2 i better stop using Science Diet then!!!!!

  • I kinda wish the monkey in the chamber had a bigger part. In the book it was great, since it served as not only a time-piece (since the dogs' escape) but the degradation of their circumstances. Towards the end when they are emaciated, feral and insane, the monkey stops responding to stimuli. It's like the polar opposite of the dog's situation.

  • I love how the book was painfully optimistic once they dogs freed themselves and went to live with the Tod.

In Requiem for a Dream, when the drug lord gets shot the movie is about to make you freak out.

In Plague Dogs, when the Tod leaves (for the first time), the movie is about to make you freak out.

I love Watership, but Plague Dogs succeeded in having an EFFECT. Not every movie can do that.

And the movie was a toned down version of the book...which I can't begin to describe. Just read it.

  • Snitter = Fiver from Watership Down

  • @RebelFierce no not at all snitter = hazel from watership down

  • Homeward Bound meets Watership Down

  • Snitter's owner tried to save him and died for his own dog and someone blamed the dog for the owner's death, who ever blamed Snitter must suffer like an animal.

  • I feel sorry for Snitter when he lost his owner, his owner saved him from getting killed and someone blames the Snitter for killing his owner just because that someone who blamed the dog over reacted and jumped to conclusions, ruining Snitter's life. When people jump to conclusions or over react, someone's life is ruined and nothing happens to the person who pinned the blame on someone innocent and everyone praises the person who pinned the blame on someone else, poor Snitter, his life is ruined

  • Why are all the cool/awesome dogs FAKE. >:C stupid real dogs.

  • Watership down brought me here :L

  • Is the animator the same as the lady who animated the dogs in Bambi?

  • First time I ever heard of a dog get blamed for involentary manslaughter.

  • Poor Snitter. He had a really good master to risk and lose his life to save his dog though. But it's sad that he ended up in the horrible testing facility. :(

  • I hate this movie, but I cant stop looking at it. What I mean is, the dog is being tested on, ALIVE, which hurts alot, and can risk a death.

The dog's owner dies by saving him. Which I did not enjoy seeing the owner die and the dog upset. (And, NO, I didnt want to dog to die either!)

And btoh dogs are trying to get somewhere, but are probably very weak.

I still enjoy watching it, I want to see the thrills and what happens next :D!

  • "You spoiled it , RALPH!"

  • @LisaIllusion His name is "Rowf" dude.

  • @Pooky1991 I hated reading that part.... It is a good book, but, as you said, reading that particular part was almost unbearable......

  • Im really sad for animals being tested on. **** the people testing on them! I mean REALLY! im gonna do something about in my life time and ASAP!!!

  • For anyone else who is wondering about the bandage on Snitter's head, or his day-mare:

In his testing, they linked his subconscious mind to his conscious, so thats why he has his visions during the day. They're like waking nightmares.

Also, I believe Rowf (if that is how you spell it) has PTSD from very nearly drowning the water

On a side note: I love Snitter's voice xD Its cute :3

  • Did anybody else crack up when Snitter freaked out at 5:37?

    Come on, be honest.

  • @TheLastCharmander hey a poke fan how goes it?

  • @StickyCharmander Pretty good. Nice to see others with "Charmander" in the username lmao.

  • @TheLastCharmander Hey, all my Poke peeps!

  • i love rowlf <3 i want him as my pet to give him a warm lovely home..

  • i feel really bad for those dogs i love dogs

  • While reading the book, for some reason it always made me sad when Snitter fussed about his feet being cold.

  • Comment removed

  • I was holding my breath at 05:35

  • At 9:58 the dongs where like KNIFE!! PANIC!!! lol

  • i'm glad that there are still people who like to see these types of movies

  • Snitter sounds like the chick who sells wands in harry potter

  • @DJLunarPresents That wasn't a chick, but yes, John Hurt, who played Snitter, was Mr. Ollivander the wand-maker from the Harry Potter series.

  • woah! 7:42

  • I wish there were subs!!!!!

  • This movie reminds me of the secret of NIMH but more disturbing and repulsive.

  • @loveofwolfs

Watch fedilate too if you finished this and liked it.

  • @hamtarofan4000 Thats the best (And most disturbing) movie ever!

  • @loveofwolfs If you think this is disturbing, watch felidae

  • thows too dogs remide me of hazel and fiver

  • Poor things if they weren't freaked out by that knive they might have gotten a home right away. :'(

  • Rowf: "You bit me!"

    Snitter: "Bit you? I didn't! Really, I didn't!"

Rowf: "You did! You hurt me."

    Me: lol! Friends that fight.

  • OMG 5:15

HURRY UP! OTHERWISE YOU'LL DIE D:

  • It the voice actor who does Hazel

  • Yes, lady. Blame the dog that has limits to decision-making. Don't blame the truck driver or the man who voluntarily pushed the dog to safety. Blame the dog.

  • Anybody notice the similarities to NIMH?

  • @123456612lk Yep, it has a simualar moral about animal testing in NIMH and Felidea.

P.S. What's ironic about watching movies like this resently is that there is an ad on Animal Planet supporting animal testing. But at least it's for both medical and "veterinary" science.

  • at least they actually act like real dogs

  • boy that was so close and that was so sad that that dog they could have saved him and all of the dogs if they let the hatch loose but I'm so glad they got out

  • why didnt they get smitter out first

  • who thinks snitter sounds like Hazel or Fiver from Watership Down?

  • @TrueEnergizerBunnies John Hurt voiced both Hazel in Watership Down and Snitter. Ironically enough he also later voiced General Woundwort in the first two seasons of the Watership Down TV series.

  • What is the green think on his head

  • @wolfrainfan1 A bandage.

  • snitters voice sounds faimliar.... did his voice actor also voice fiver or hazel from watership down? i think its one of them....

  • Watching this with my old cat, who's sound asleep on a cozy bed, is rather painful. :(

  • I cried when I saw snitter's dream ;( a man lost his life to save his dog. How sweet and sad

  • poor chimps they put them in those small tanks why did they do that?

  • @btrfan8312 To see what happens to them if they're left in total isolation and sensory deprivation for a few weeks. Based on real experiments.

  • snitters dream was so sadand scary

  • I hate how people don't seem to get that dogs can get mentally messed up too. ptsd being only one example.

  • @XSquid93X I agree completely. That is why it's so important for us to have laws that protect the rights of animals. Just because a dog can't do math or pay taxes doesn't mean it can't suffer.

  • this is amazing. rolf has ptsd from the water. and its true, dogs do have that.

  • This is a good cartoon that doesn't baby us with silly songs and happy go lucky situations.

  • bitch

  • Ralph is exhibitng learned helplessness.

  • oh my god.... he died for his dog... and that BASTARD of a lady got him in their!!

  • @Dewlight1122 in the book theres a second half and snitter is reunited with his master his injuries were minor

  • Of course, the movie has it's differences from the book. But nonetheless, it captures the essence of making you angry at animal testing every bit as much, and for that, I adore the movie.

  • This aint Tom and Jerry lol

  • Wow.... around 7:00, when they show the countryside. Adam's imagery is so strong in the book that this was *exactly* how i pictured it when i read the book.

I do agree with other posters, though - Snitter isn't crazy enough here...

  • agreed to all comments

  • this movie is so creepy

  • Oh my god... poor Snitter!

  • For some reason, this reminds me of Ralph Bakshi's animation.

  • they almost got burned :o poor dogs :/

  • ah a nice good animation when animals really look like animals

  • All they down to their reproductive organs.

  • @TheNerdHerd2 Adds a lot more to the horror of it's subject matter really.

  • "You do the man before the food, not after."

This movie is depressing, but that line made me laugh.

  • Man this movie reminds me of the other movie Nihm or Nimh

  • "you bit me!"

    Your Welcome.........

  • Why is that door latch so low to the ground? Were the scientists planning on doing some psychological tests on some dogs by letting them think they escaped and watching how far they could make it out of the building?

  • @ObeyBunny Sometimes there are two or three latches on doors for 'security', that was probably just one of a few.

  • The music and sound effects in this are SO LOUD and the voices are SO QUIET it's really annoying

  • This movie is super sad. I love how they nuzzled each after they escape. :D What good buddies.

  • I agree that this sort of animal testing is horrible and inhumane, but there is some animal testing isn't. My dad does tests with primates about behavior, like what hand they are more likely to use, or if they can use things as tools, and it's not cruel, is even interesting for the animals. Some medical testing, though sad, is needed. It's when the experiments are basically pointless that it is cruel. The only problem with movies like this is that it paints ALL testing as bad.

  • @moviegrl185 All testing is bad. Deal with it. If your dad or any other scientist wants to know about animal behaviour, they should go watch them in the wild. Medical testing is done for humans, therefor it should be done on humans. NO MORE ANIMAL TESTING!!!!!!!!

  • @WolfgangB30 It's judgmental to say all testing is bad. That's oversimplifying without seeing it. In the wild, you can't tell if monkeys recognize their own reflection, what hand they are most likely to use.Our animals are happy and well cared for,and retire to an outdoor enclosure.Medical testing is sad,but that would be true for humans and animals. NOT all testing is bad. It's that stigma that makes society ignorant about real experimentation practices.Stop this unethical testing, but not all.

  • @WolfgangB30 i totally agree with you. all animal testing is disgusting and barbaric and not right. animals have rights too.

  • How can people be so cruel...?:(

  • Snitter is really smart

  • @metalrevolver88 Yeah I think he's supposed to be a Jack Russel Terrier and there really smart dogs.

  • O man...the movie almost shows how horrible the laboritory scene is. SPOILER: Theres actually baby kittens who are desentisized, Hamsters with amputated limbs, Birds who are put in cages with different climates only to be set free to migrate and die in the process because thier sense of direction is screwed. Snitter is even more insane too. Reading it is almost unbearable. I haven't read pass this part yet. I'm reading WSD at the same time.

  • awww, if they hadnt been spooked by the knife, the man would most likely have tossed them a scrap of meat or so :(

  • Not a kid's movie! I'd say PG-13

  • @hillaryliucoxnet i love watership down, got it on dvd, might watch it this weekend.

  • Guys the rating back in this decade were semi off. If they were to re-rate this movie I'm sure it's get a PG-13 or higher. And by not every cartoon/animated film is for children, South Park, Drawn Together, anything on Adult Swim. Would you let little children watch that?

  • and this is just a cartoon, imagine what happened in real life to these animals in world war 2 sad...

  • ralph is a black golden retriver and snitter is a jack russel terrior

  • @robs1396 Rowf is a labrador mix

  • ...and thus, PETA came into existence....

  • Thumbs up if you hate this movie, but love it at the same time.

  • What a sad movie :((

  • Oh come one guys. It was just a knife. And by God! It wasn't Sniffer's fault! That guy klled himself. He was completely willing. Scratch that... Damn bus driver.

  • Id give those poor babys food :(

  • any other movies like this?

  • @simplyscar water ship down

  • MY favorite Disney movies are LK, Mulan, and the Incredibles. Other than that I like watching nondisney movies the most like Dreamworks movies. I hate it when peaple automatically shun movie because they aren't Disney. Peaple say that Disneys kid friendly but if peaple watch hard enough they'll realize that some Disney movies depend on adult humor too. The Incredibles and Little Mermaid being another example.

P.S. The dogs are fed tobacco?! That is f***ed up.

  • Who said it was Sniffer's fault? WTF Sniffer would save you if you were about to get hit by a car. Would you like it if someone tried saving you and they die and think it's your fault?

  • How anyone can be nasty to a dog I'll never know.

  • @hobbit1486 me neither.

  • We need more movies like this, and Watership down. Not the Disney shit that shows your kids saturated, censored issues. The best movie by Disney I've seen is The Fox and The Hound, and even that doesn't quite get to the point.

  • @KatiaAngek I somewhat agree, but Disney has had some other movies like that. best one benig Hunchback of Notre Dame

  • Man's best friend huh? What kind of best friend tries to drown you every day?

  • @bluevixen1 I know right. Some "friends" treat them like trash

  • These dogs are damn clever.

  • Oh, my, God! I just realized why the NRA pressured the The United States Supreme court to no longer recognize shooting dogs as a felony, its so they can test GUNS on them! Whatever happened to dignity and decency?

  • Poor doggies :(

  • I was absolutely amazed and touched when the man pushed Snitter out of the way of the truck. I've never seen any form of fiction where a human being sacrifices their own life to save that of an animal's. Why can't there be more compassionate people like that, fictional and otherwise?

  • @AzureClarity I would have done the same thing but then I'm one of those rare "freaks" who values animals over humans. Humans can take care of themseves and until they get their act together and stop being so mean to animals I'm not going to give a shit about them.

  • @PinkPunkyKat

HELL YES AMEN TO THAT! finally someones who understands

  • I think this director should get the award for making the creepiest most disturbing movies ever. I'm impressed and unnerved by that alone. children movies? this movie is NOTHING for children. older maybe but younger? you must be out of your freaking mind. Dinsey would shit it's pants if it saw this movie

  • @AnnaHellsing Who in the world said this was a children's movie?

  • @IidoTheFox

they say in the UK it's rated PG13 and in America too

  • @AnnaHellsing That doesnt mean it's a childrens movie...

PG13 movies are intended for teenagers and adults, not kids around the age of...5-10, say.

  • I have another tidbit for those against animal testing (as well as an extremly good reason to get your pets microchipped). It is a proven fact and there are documented cases in which money desparate people steal pets (in some cases right off the the lease!) and sell them to these testing laboratories.

It's easy to be for something when it's not your problem, but what if it was your pet being drowned or infected with some disease on purpose?

  • @101Swiftflick Dito! I own a gun to protect my animals too. Unfortnaly I hear that the diffrent mirochip brands are not all universal with the diffrent things that idenify them.

  • @101Swiftflick

They take dogs from pounds to put into laboratories too

  • Yes that dog clearly killed that guy with a truck

  • Suffocate as in put them in a chamber and fill it with carbon dioxide :'(

  • In dog torture they burn the body D: and in bird (chicken) torture they suffocate the useless ones D:

    Such a horrible world

  • @hillaryliucoxnet eeeeerewewgehweh! ESPECIALLY when the white rabbit was talikng about how the dead bunnies bodies were filling up the tunnels.....XO

  • i'm horrified by the truths this movie shows.

  • on another note... this movie is scary :3

  • why would the door lock be on the bottom of the door?

  • @HeroOfTheLions

There were/are also experiments where they put baby chimps in isolated areas, such as these cylinders, in order to study the effects it has on their development.

Animal testing is brutal and unnecessary -- and this film is great. Highly recc the book.

  • "Animal testing is brutal and unnecessary"

Without animal testing, many advancements in medical science would not have ever happened. Or would you prefer to be crippled by polio or die from smallpox before the age of 7?

  • *Continued* testing is brutal and unnecessary. Earlier on, yeah great, we got some advancements in medical science -- but nowadays we have alternate methods of testing (computer models, lab grown tissue etc) that can not only replace live animals, but are proven to be more safe. Rats and dogs do not equal humans, it is not an exact science and it is a waste of resources. We have the technology to move forward, and yet the same pointless experiments continue over and over

  • @ILikeShinny,well,on the animals behalf,I would die. The animals have been here longer than we have, and were giving shit to them.

  • @ILikeShinny Animals react to drugs and diseases differently then us. Testing on them hasn`t done anything good, for both the the animals and us. You can`t rely on animal testing.

    Thalmoid:Tested for safety, on animals.

    Caused birth defects on humans.

  • Snitters and Rowf...what a team :)

  • The part where i saw the rats .. made me wanna hug my rats close to me. God i can't imagine such torture

  • Fuck the lady that said it was Snitter's fault.
