Well a pivoting point in the anime is how everyone is born female. Then later they go to the spring/temple (or what is was) and the high pristess chooses which gender they'll become. So it's not so weird if you have that in mind. :)

I think veoh has the series. I would watch a few episodes, at least, before you decide though - I've heard a lot of people are turned off by the first episode (though I personally had no problems with it).
