I saw them with Jesu and Logh in 2005. They headlined the show - and I left pretty soon after they started. The opening acts were worth the money, though!
i think i have found the greatest metal band ever! i can't believe i didnt find out about them sooner. love this album more than i love pancakes, and pancakes are good !
& i didn't find they were very good live. i actually fell asleep when they were opening for jesu during their oceanic tour, i believe it was. maybe it was just that show though.
Always Object Never Subject Can You see Us? Are we there? Are we there... Can You see Me? We are watching We are watching... You are fading... In the Daylight... Fading... Always upon you, light never ceases Lost from yourself, light never ceases Thousands of eyes, gaze never ceases Light is upon you 'til life in you ceases
I always think of the Patriot Act when I hear this album, because of its surveillance theme, though I am glad Isis chose not to make any overt political statements, makes us think for ourselves that way.
it's amazing. i had the shittiest week in recent memory, life's not working out the way I quite want it to. I do a search on isis, this song pops up so i play it. all of a sudden the world makes sense again. I love music like this. Very emotional song.

I dont know why, but i get this bitter/sweet and optimistic feeling from listening to this song (anyone else feel that?). Its so rare to have metal songs with a happy feeling to them, and its even rarer that you have a metal song provoke so many emotions like this does.
@cartemw Given that you're saying that like a command, you probably don't get that it's meant as you are always seen as an object, not as a person. Not criticizing -- just letting you know.

this and in fiction are the best isis song, so beautiful. first they conjure the beauty of the music by painting a visual imagery with the instruments, then they splash it all over the mind with aaron turners haunting vocals
I discovered isis by hearing this song on pandora internet radio. It knocked me on my ass. I loved how it slowly built up layer by layer to an awesome crescendo. I had never heard anything quite like it. I've been hooked on isis ever since. If an asteroid were about to strike the earth and I was about to face death, it would be to this fucking song.
One of my favorite parts of this album, 3:50, and the whole song of Altered Course. After listening first to Oceanic, this album had to grow on me...and now I will never take it out of regular rotation till the day I die!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha................. damn that was a random and toatlly unexpected comment on your part hahaha.
@brewcrew01984 of course you will enjoy milkshakes to this music.
what sets isis apart from all other bands in this genre is that they set out to create the ultimate milkshake soundtrack with each and every track. pelican tried to go down the salty cracker route...less said 'bout that the better. the only reason that isis broke up was due to a band member (who will remain unamed) going soya!
Oh please, just shut up. There's nothing "life-changing" and it certainly does not have "deep potential to heal and inspire" quit acting as if music has some sort of magical power, you sound a fucking idiot. Don't get me wrong I still like this.
go eat a dick. i'm not talking about magic. magic is for kids. spirituality is for adults. and i'm not talking about religion either - i'm talking about deep, transcendent and integrative experiences. if these aren't on your radar, you could at least refrain from insulting me. you fuckin maggot... btw, my comment was a reply to another guys comment, so chances are you took it completely out of context. go fuck yourself sir, and when your finished, go fuck your mother
You did in fact say the words 'magical power', which to me is in the same neighborhood as 'magic'. This means I did not really imply anything that wasn't there. And the bit about religion was merely to distinguish depths of spirituality from superficial dogma or ritual of 'ordinary' religions of the fundamentalist majority. Like I suspected, these things are beyond you. Maybe someday you'll evolve, or begin to inquire into your experience, and then you'll know what I am talking about.
@rrippp I agree bro, if I hadn't heard oceanic my taste in music would be forever lost. That album has inspired me to even start a band. Tho we will never be as epic and inspiring.
@cvela20032003 Don't sell youselves short in advance fellas - you might be brilliant. I play music too, and I just focus on playing my own shit - if I compared myself to my heroes it would crush me into never playing a note.
@cvela20032003 I don't have a band right now. I am auditioning for a soul/RnB type band on Thursday, and I'm trying to start another band that plays more progressive, heavy rock-type stuff (not unlike Isis). I have a lot of stuff written, I just need to find the right people to collaborate with, and that's the stage I'm at now.
@cvela20032003 Thanks for the encouragement bro. Good luck with your stuff too. I sent you a friend invite - confirm it if you want to stay connected, and I can give you a heads up when my projects have some music released
btw i said OCEANIC was a life-changing album. have you even listened to Oceanic? i don't think anyone who gave this album a decent listen a few times would deny that it's powerful stuff.
agreed...oceanic is in my top 3 albums...id put panopticon in my top 10 buy oceanic has so much raw energy its amazing...the album flows perfectly.....panopticon is an entirely different beast....but thats what makes isis albums so special (even ITAOT) is that they never make the same album over again, always progressing
yeah. all of their albums are masterpieces in different ways. they've never made one that wasn't rooted in something deep and true, whatever the style it comes out in.
if anything their music is sounding more abstract maybe too much so...the great thing about this album is that it was produced perfectly and made post-metal sound so much more acceptable...
panopticon and times of grace by neurosis are my favorite post metal albums
@DrumShag1986 see this is what the industry needs. People need to buy records because the music is actually good. If the product is great everyone will pay
i'm sorry ISIS but i can't let you disband, you will be together forever in my heart
