Negativland took the words of the Rev Estus Pirkle who was talking about brainwashing. Later versions of this included re-working it to say "Christianity is Communism", "Stupid is good", etc. At least one member of the band is an atheist I believe (Don Joyce, who often says "There is no God" on KPFA's Over the Edge). The band did a hoax saying a Minn. teen, David Brom, murdered his family after hearing the song and "fed. authorities" told them to cancel their tour.

I come from a Canadian-Ukrainian background, and I think if you knew the pain communism has caused, and if it actually affected your family, you would hate it.
