  • I'm liking PRS's more and more, and your model is just... wow.

    Awesome demo.

  • @gorillazhead Thanks very much; really glad you liked the vid. Yup, the PRS Cu24 is a very nice guitar that's beautifully put together. New prices are crazy but if you're patient there are some used gems to be found.

  • I need help guys I'm getting an amp soon I thinkmy budget is about $200 maybe 250 so I wasthinking on getting the Vox Valvetronix VT30 30W or the Vox Valvetronix AD30VT 30w theAD30VT is $10 more but is it worth it? thats if I get to spend 250 if I don't i think I'm getting the VT20+ 20W or the VT15 15W. they are the same price but the vt+ has more watts??!?! so whats the deal with this?

  • @timothyga01 The AD30VT is an old model; only 11 amp models, more basic effect options, & 2 user memories. VT30 replaced the AD30VT - 22 amp models, better effects inc global reverb, 8 patch user memory, & amp models are later technology. VT40+ is replacement for VT30- it's smaller, lighter (new class D power section can be pushed to 60w), has 33 amp models & a new pedal section adding a further 11 effect options, 3 reverb options, plus it has a tuner built in & an aux out for mp3/CD.

  • Honestly, do you recommend the VOX vt30 or VOX Vt40+?? Some comments say thar the old vt30 sounds better and the vt40+ looks "cheaper"...? Í´ll buy this amp next week in Argentina, and your help is welcome, thanks man, your Rock!!

  • @zzseba I've a VT40+ on loan & plan to do a demo over Xmas. Reserving judgement until I can put it through paces (no chance to crank it yet). First impressions are Pro's: great tone, good bottom end, love the new pedal section (adds real versatility), smaller & lighter, better speaker, & I like the black cloth grill. Cons: some high-gain amp models seem 'samey' , some amp models I liked in VT are gone, no line outs, & the tuner is 'twitchy'.

  • What styles do you play?Do you have your own effects? Is it for bedroom or small club use?Do you need something versatile that gives many different tones & effects or are you OK with a single all-valve tone with no effects? Do you need good cleans at reasonable volume, or do you want something with early break-up?Do you want to be able to connect to a bigger cab or will you just use the amp as a combo? Do you want to use headphones and plug in an mp3 player to play along with?

  • Sorry to bother you sir, but what amp do you think I should get The Vox Ac4tv or The Vox Valvetronix Vt-40+

  • @SR5127CL Actually, you're best to pop into the Vox forum (on the main Vox website) to discuss - youtube isn't a chat forum & there's limited space here.

  • @Vöxman5 What douche response, forums are full of pompous, arrogant know it alls. You can't ask a simple question and get a simple answer on forums. Then theres the forum Nazi's who' are not even moderators but will self appointed themselves as chief forum keeper because they've been a member for 10 years and so believe they have the right to point out every little error or petty broken rule. Please! You have a better chance of getting a short, down to earth direct answer here on Youtube.

  • @lockpicker2k The Vox forum isn't like that. It's very friendly & helpful - pop in and have a chat; there's lots of good knowledge there that folk are very happy to share. And it doesn't get out of hand (I'm one of the official moderators there anyway)

  • @Voxman5 That's comforting to know, I may just check it out. Thank you.

  • This versus a Laney cub 12r 15 watts full valve. Which one is better in you opinion because im thinking of getting either of those 2 I also have an rp 255.

  • @henzery Sorry, only just saw this (for some reason it showed as spam). I realise this was 11 mths ago but I recently bought a Laney Cub 12R for myself a few mths back (swapped the Rocket 50 for a Vintage 30). Cracking little amp (pop into the Laney forum to discuss in more detail) Very different type of amp to VT30/VT40+ - not so much which is 'better', more what suits you. You can't beat the V'x amps for versatility & bang for buck, but the Cub is a super little straight amp too.

  • Hi man, you rock! One question, it´s possible to ger a crunch power distortion from this amp to play hardcore, punk, etc? thanks

  • @zzseba Thanks for the kind words. With 22 amp models at your disposal I'd say most definitely! The new VT+ range have even more amp models (33) PLUS 11 pedal effects inc extra distortion 'pedals' - so the new VT+ is the one to go for! And it has more delays/reverbs too. I'm getting hold of a VT40+ to demo with a Vox 55 guitar and a Vox Mini 3, & over the Xmas break I'm hoping to do some more videos....so stay tuned.

  • @stringbean525 Congrats on the forthcoming VT30 - I liked the 10" too - more 'vintagy' than any other version (my Laney VC30 is a 2x10" version - I preferred it to the 2x12 or 1x12) . Glad you liked the vids.

  • @stringbean525 Fender 2x12 (per my text comment intro). Yes, my PRS has a 5-way rotary switch to switch between h/b & single-coils (see me switching in the first vid) but can't recall which p/up selections I used throughout this demo. I also tend to sometimes roll off the volume & tone on my guitar to further 'shape' tone, which might throw you re p/up tone - something that younger players don't tend to learn about, but it's a rewarding technique!

  • I liked very much your vid, i have a vt 50 for 1 week and trying to find some sounds, don't hesitate to make an other with some vintage amps. Thanks a lot, i like your playing

  • @jf1jf1jf Thanks very much for looking in, & glad you enjoy the vids.

  • No tenés guitarra gordo culiado!..

  • @fernandaopk Sorry, but I don't know what your message means - my wife speaks fluent Spanish & says it's: 'you don't have a fat guitar' ???

  • @Voxman5 doesn't matters it just was an argentinian expression haha...

Nice review! i have the same amp but not that beatiful PRS :P

    Saludos desde Argentina.

    bye

  • Great video! Can't wait to pick this beauty up in a couple weeks!

  • @cmacinnis Glad you liked it & hope you have lots of fun with your VT30

  • I really like the blues improvising you did. I can't figure out how to come up with a groove like that...

  • @andrewpmast Thanks very much Andrew - I guess it's just stuff in my head from listening to others and playing for a lot of years. But I've never considered myself a good player & there are loads of folk on you-tube that are just brilliant! Check out my good friend Marco for blues (search for MbM20100 on youtube)

  • @Voxman5 Yea, I guess I get it. I mean, I can improvise, but it's more 80's rock that I was brought up on. I guess you always crave what you can't have. ;) I'll check out Marco... just stumbled on a band from france and these guys really seem to enjoy what they're doing. "MattRach" is the channel. Later!

  • yes man, u rock. Thanks for the great demo!

  • @TheDacy Glad you liked the vid & thanks for looking in

  • how long tube last ?

  • @Majorozkrok The tube should never need changing & should last the life of the amp - it's used differently with lower voltage/current than a power tube in an all valve amp. My AD120VTX is over 6 yrs old and my Marshall Valvestate is well over 15 yrs old - all on original tubes and both working perfectly.

  • @Voxman5 Thanks much, Im gonna buy 50w version .. And could it go wrong when it fall down or like a consequence of changing temperature? We play in garage ...

  • Comment removed

  • great demo thanks!. plus i love the fact that your called Voxman yet there arent any Vox things in the vid lol! great vidthough

  • @MeanGreenMovies Hi - glad you liked the vid & thanks for looking in. I moved the VT30 nearer to the camera so that the mic would pick up the VT30's tone better. It was on a cabinet out of camera shot. If you look closely though you'll just make out the edge of my Vox Valvetronix AD120VTX with its blue cloth grill next to my Laney VC30-210....so there is some Vox in the Vid after all! lol! Best, Rich

  • Hey Voxman,

I am really interested in getting a VT amp. Do they take external effects well? Like if I wanted to put a Fuzz Factory, a Wah pedal, and a MXR Phaser in front of it, would it still sound great, or would it take away some of the effects?

You sound awesome btw, great playing.

  • @19ZoSo93 Thanks for the kind words. Depends on how you use them & the pedal. Most sound OK with the VT, but mix high gain amp models & fuzz you'll get noise/mush. You may get clipping if wah is also a trebleboost. Time based effects work best in FX loop (only VT100) .(See Valvetronix . net for details of a no solder mod). Just experiment with the VT & different pedals. The more pedals at the front end, the more noise, so make the best use of internal FX that are in optimum signal path position.

  • @Voxman5 Thanks for the response! It kinda sucks that the VT100 is the only model with the FX loops. I was actually planning on using some of the on-board effect models, but I don't think the phaser will be as good as my MXR.

Thanks again for the great info. I have been reading some of your posts on the Vox forums thing, and you seem to be extremely knowledgeable.

  • @Voxman5 and um.. Sorry to bother you again, but is there still that Volume Spike issue with the VT series? I've heard most of them have it, and I'm interested in a VT50. Or has that issue been solved?

  • @19ZoSo93 I think it depends on the amp models being switched. I'm not sure why it happens on some amps but not others, or why it happens at all. I had no problems with my loan VT30 but I have heard the spike on another VT30 & VT50. I don't know if this is something that has been addressed by Vox, so I think you need to try several & see how you get on.

  • @Voxman5 Again, thanks for the response.

Well, I just came back from a music store, played the VT30, 50 and 100, and they are great amps. The tones were really awesome. But I did notice some volume spikes switching between some models.

I also tried out an AC30VR.. I think I'm gonna be getting that amp now. It sounded incredible!!

Again, thanks for all your help. You rock!! =D

  • I think this video has finally swayed me towards the VT30, i've made my mind up.

    Thanks!

  • @Killadey Glad the vid helped you. The VT30 really is a lot of amp for a modest cost, & I think you'll have a lot of fun with it. All the best, Rich

  • @Voxman5

In the end i bought a AD30VT and a Gould SG copy for £75

    I'm a very happy camper.

I'll be doing the Fx loop mod and get myself that behringer eq aswell. Love your website, you're an exellent admin/guru/tech btw.

You've been a great help, thanks.

    Adey

  • @Killadey Congrats on the new gear, & enjoy.

  • good cover of get back like it.

  • @blist777 - well, just a few of the riffs rather than a cover really, but glad you liked it & thanks for looking in.

  • HAHHAAHA

    i lied

    that wasnt my last question

    here it is

whats diferent between AC and VT?

    What effects does is has?

Can I edit the effects like to make them go faster and stronger..etc?

How do you so much about this amp?

  • As I said previously, you tube isn't a discussion forum. Pop into the Valvetronix forum to discuss this with members.

  • Hi, i have a question regarding this amp regarding the speaker size of the VT30, i know its a 10'' speaker but if you play this on a 12'' speaker will the tone/sound quality change much? i mean i understand that bigger speakers sound more rounded but in ur own opinion will there be a major change in tone and sound quality if the played thru a 12'' instead of a 10''? hoping for ur reply thx :)

  • A 12" speaker will sound different to a 10" speaker, but then one 10" speaker will sound different to another 10" as will a 12" compared with other 12" speakers! Generally, a 10" will sound 'toppier' & a 12" will sound fuller with more bottom end. Rich

  • thanks for the quick reply, having said that, i understand that the voxVT50 has a 12 inch speaker, but does it have a Major advantage tonewise (not volume) compared to the VT30's 10 inch speaker? and also, is it also possible to change the tubes on the VT series? and will it improve the tone given the tubes changed be better than the stock ones? thanks hoping 4 ur kind reply.

  • This isn't a discussion forum. Pop into the Valvetronix forum to discuss this with members.

  • awesome sound... id like to see how that would sound playing a metallica riff

my line 6 spider 3 amp is all i need though and it sounds fine

    awesome guitar playing to

  • Hi tgizzle829 - glad you liked the vid. Nothing wrong with the L6 Spider's. If it sounds fine, as the saying goes 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. lol

  • Voxman my last question

is the vox valvetronix a tube amp

or if is not what the diference between the solid and the tube?

  • It's a hybrid. digital (modelling) preamp front end, with a 12AX7 triode valve in the power amp section, where it matters (not the preamp stage). That's why it has the feel & tone very close to an al tube amp.

  • Just to clarify, the VFS5 is the only pedal to control the amp directly i.e. switch between patches, turn reverb & effects on/off. It's NOT an effects pedal! In front of the amp, you can use ordinary effect pedals or MFX pedals just like any other amp - but try them first as the VT's will 'like' some pedals better than others as the front end is digital. But, I recommend you DO NOT use a MODELLING MFX unit, as ithe amp models will conflict & you'll get a mushy, muddy tone with more noise.

  • can i plug in a wah wah pedal on this amp?

  • Sure - it's just an amp!

  • Yes - but as per the first vid & the spec from Vox, the VFS5 is the ONLY foot pedal you can use.

  • Nice work Voxman ! Can I ask your opinion on this ? I'm thinking of buying a new VT 100 and I'm worried that it might be too loud for bedroom use even if I use the attenuator to drop the amps will I lose much of the tone. I need it to be 100 watts so that I can gig it as well as use it at home.

    All the best,

    Tom.

  • Hi Tom, glad you liked the vid and thanks for looking in. You should have no problem at all. My main rig is a Valvetronix AD120VTX with AD212 extn cab and VC12 floorcontroller (EQ700 & BBE Sonic stomp in fx loop). For home use I typically have the amp set at 2x15w or 2x30w and I can control the volume easily (but 2x1w for late night practice -obviously, some tone is lost at 2x1w, but it still sounds pretty good).

  • @tammac06

50 watts are more than enough!!! the atenuator is not to bu used on this amp because it's not an all tube amp...

Anyway, since it's not an all-tube amp you can also but a 100 watts and at low volume will sound quite well too...I personally find 100 watts completely useless since with the 50 you have enough volume to play on stage with a "death metal drummer"..also the 30 watts it's fine if you play blues-rock-jazz....

  • could I ask a favor - please annotate which pickup setting/position you use for each sound demo....? thx!

  • Hi intrsoul - thanks for looking in & hope you enjoyed the vid. Doing these vids on my own with limited recording gear is much more difficult than you might think, often needing several takes. I'm trying to remember a script (of sorts), what to play to show off the amp as well as I can, p/up positions, amp settings etc. Sometimes I do mention the p/up position but its hard to think of everything & try to keep it flowing for viewers. I'm only an amateur at this I'm afraid so bear with me!

  • Hey Voxman, check your personal messages just sent you a link for some good free vid editing tools.

Vids are awesome by the way!

  • Thanks Kev - appreciate the link & I'll try it.

  • Hi Voxman

  • Hi dfh1970

  • Hey Voxman5, my name is Victor, and I am from Brazil. I play the guitar since january of 2009, and I have a Ibanez art 120 (Les Paul), and a BOSS ME6 for effects, and a bad amp from groovin' (12w only). Do you think that is a good call to take as a second amp this Vox VT 30 amp, or you have another in mind? Sorry for my terrible english, and thanks for your time! Oh, almost forgot; mad guitar dude, mad guitar! Rock Hard!

  • Hi Victor - thanks for looking in. The VT30 is very versatile & sounds great; you could do a lot worse. But as I advise everyone, opinions are like bottoms - everyone has one! So try lots of different gear yourself to find what suits YOU best, and trust your own ears.

  • Can this amplifier be used with a Viola or will that brake the amp

  • I can't think of any reason why not although tonally you probably won't want the higher gain models (or maybe you do!). Certainly won't break the amp! lol Best thing is to pop into a store & try one out, to see how you get on. If you decide to get one, I'd love to hear how your viola sounds with it! Put up some clips for everyone! Best, Rich

  • cheers mAn. big help

  • Thanks for this demo -- it definitely helped me consider this amp since most demos on YouTube seem to lean on the more metal sounds...I just need a versatile amp that sounds good and gets more of those "classic" tones. The rebate offer Vox has going right now helps as well...and North Coast Music has been selling them with brown grill cloth aftermarket mods so that was nice too. But it all comes down to tone, and from what I hear on this vid, it sounds pretty nice!

  • Hi aquasloth (great handle btw! lol) - the new VT's are very versatile, great fun, terrific value, and have great tone. You could do a lot worse! And the NCM mods look very nice (I much prefer a classic look with a cloth grill! - & they 'burn' all their amps in before sale & offer excellent service so I hear - shame they'e only US!) All the best for 2010.

  • Is it possible to use a BSM HS C Treble booster with VT50? I have used a BSM RPA Major with AC30 and some boss pedals and it killed the flanger and delay pedals. How will it affect a VT amp?

  • You can put any pedal in front of any amp - but the only way to find out if it sounds any good or not is to try it.

  • @Voxman5 It sounds great with AC30's tubes. But... I'm afraid of it damaging my VT50 just as it did with my pedals. Because treble boosters are made for tube amps. BTW as an owner of both AC30 and VT50 I can say that VT is a stunning piece of equipment. AC30 IMO still sounds better than VT on its AC30 setting. However, maybe my ears are just prejudiced. I've played to a friend through both amps without letting him see which one I was using, and he couldn't decide which one was better.

  • Moreover, he got it all wrong. On the clean channel he thought AC30 was VT50. On overdrive he said I was using the same amp twice to trick him. This doesn't have to mean anything, he is not a guitarist (he's a keyboard player) however, this means he wasn't biased in any way. No tube snobbery here :)

  • I can't see how a pedal could damage your amp. But if you're concerned, pop into the forum, post in the VT50 section & speak to our techies there.

  • @Voxman5 Here's what it says in the manual. "With the level control turned up to the max, the RPA Major delivers an output level of 8 volts (!!!), which can kill most modulation stompboxes with electronical CMOS switching like delay, chorus etc. that are connected after the RPA Major in the signal chain. So please only use the RPA Major with full level directly into your tube amp." It is a hornby and skewes Treble Booster like the one used by Ritchie Blackmore.

  • Sorry, but I'm not a techie & youtube isn't a discussion board. I've already directed you to post on forum if you need advice. There are folk there that can help you.

  • Im defiantly getting this amp, thank Voxman.

  • Glad you liked the vid Jimi, & thanks for looking in.

  • Gettin this next week :D it's such an amazing amp really. At first my mind was set on a Roland Cube 30 or 60, but when I saw this one I completely changed my mind. Great demo man. keep rockin

  • Thanks Spence & hope you enjoy the amp.

  • ohh.. that´s a pitty ... , but.. where can i get that swich pedal?? it comes with the amp?? or i have to buy it apart ?

  • Separate item, from your Vox dealer

  • hi voxman5! can you make a video showing your swich pedal?? please , it would be great if you do it, great videos and demos! cheers!

  • 'Fraid not xino44 - the VT30/VFS5 were only a loan & unfortunately had to be returned :(

  • Should I buy this or a Roland Cube 30X ? Thanks in advance.

  • NM - That's like asking should you buy a Strat or a Les Paul. Depends entirely on your needs, playing style, budget, musical tastes, feature requirements etc - play both and buy what sounds & feels best to you. I nor anyone else can answer that for you. Rich

  • Thank you for your reply. I asked due to the fact that my nearest guitar shops are both seperately 40 kilometers from my house. Neither of them had both amps. But one long day and I tested them both in both shops. I decided to buy the Cube 30X by Roland. I already have more then enough effects on my effects pedal, and the metal tone really sounds great. Again thanks for your advice.

  • Very good playing, well done. love that amp, its so versitile

  • Thanks Nylonica01 - appreciate you looking in. Very versatile, & great tone/feel too. Rich

  • Very cool, thanks for the demos. Mine should arrive by this Friday, very excited to play with it.

  • Hi Andy, glad you liked the demo's & congrats on your new arrival! Rich

  • Nice video.

Any chance of doing Santana with this amp?

  • or could you just tell me the settings? as I'll probebly buy this amp

  • Hi piptime, glad you enjoyed the vid. No more demos of the VT30 I'm afraid - it was only a loan & I had to return it quite a while back. Rich

  • Great video. Could you tell me what pickup selection were you using on this demo? Sounds great. How do you like the custom 24? What pickups are those? Thanks.

  • Thanks Ryanenski, glad you liked it. The Cu24 is a lovely well made guitar. I bought it especially for live use as it saves me changing between my Les Paul Custom & Fender Strat, & string changes are easy. I chose the 5 way rotary rather than the push-pull/toggle switch, as the single-coil tones are more Strat like. P/ups are stock. Bridge: HFS, neck: Vintage, but with the nicer zebra p/up covers. I used various positions, but can't recall which went with each bit, sorry.

  • hi voxman i have a brian may guitar would the vt50 be better than a marshall avt amp i only play at home regards dave

  • Hi evh6505 - with built in effects & 22 amp models including the Vox BM (Brian May) model, the VT50 will be much, much more versatile than the Marshall, plus it has some great Marshall models anyway including the Marshall Jubilee. Seems a no-brainer to me! Best, Rich

  • looks like iam going to grab a ad60vt blue one hopefully better than the new vt50

  • Hello! I like your stuff. I got a question about a Valvetronix when it comes to recording. I'm play on a Gibson Les Paul Standard, and I have a Valvetronix, but I'm not sure of the model or anything, but it has an output. I got a couple of some fairly nice condenser mics that I use for vocal recording. I also use a PreSonus Firestudio to record. I was curious if maybe micing the amp is more effective than just plugging it in to the amp, and what are your thoughts on recording? Thanks!

  • Thanks Brink. I personally prefer miking an amp but you need a decent mike such as a Sure SM57. It also gives you more variation depending on mike positioning - how far away the mike is and whether its off axis i.e. how far away from the speaker centre. But try both direct and miked and see which you prefer.

  • Txs a lot!, your reviews are very usefull and complete!. I´m a Beatle cover guitar player from Argentina, and I`m sure now!, I´m gonna buy a Vox VT. Just one more thing.. what do you think abut the VT 15?, could it be loud enough for more than a practice?. txs, again (sorry about my english, it sucks!)

  • Hi Leo - I'd suggest the VT30 as a minimum. It's 10" speaker gives better tone (fuller, with more vintage feel) compared to the 8" speaker in the VT15 (even at the same volume), it has more clean head room, and more volume means it's better suited for small gigs & band practices. For the price difference you have much more flexibility and 'future-proofing' from the amp to adapt to your needs. The VT15 is great for home use but beyond that your options are much more restricted.

  • Yes!, you´re right, so, I´m gonna buy the vt 30. Txs again for your reply!

  • have you tried playing on a peavey vypyr 30? what do you think about peavey's new modeling amp?

  • On the +ve side I found the Vypyrs better for metal, with more effect control, user patches, better floorcontrol capability than the VT's & a sensibly priced controller. On the -ve side, I was unimpressed with its poor build quality, worrying reliability reports, & it's let down badly by poor speakers. For all the techy hype, they have a tinny, more digital tone. The modeling quality, warmth, tube feel & punch are lacking. Bells & whistles, Vypyr wins. Tone, punch, feel:-the VT's win by a mile!

  • I would point you to another amp to try - the Laney Prism. This is their 1st ever modeling amp. Prices are very keen. They don't have as many amp models, & only a 4 patch memory. However, Laney knows about amps & tone (I have a VC30) & has concentrated on the most important stuff & tonally they are supposed to be very good indeed with good quality speakers (Seventy 80 in the P65) and built in tuner in all 3 versions (lacking in the VT's & Vypyr30). I'm hoping to try one myself this weekend.

  • oh yeah i've seen that laney prism on my local guitar shop nearby. havent tried it yet. I never thought it would compete with Vox and Laney tone-wise. Anyway, I think I have to try it before deciding to buy any of the previous two next week. thanks for your inputs.

  • jake - re this & your other post - you're absolutely right mate....you MUST try gear yourself & go for what fits your needs. My opinions are irrelevant - it's YOUR hard earned money, YOUR ears, & what YOU want that counts! If the SS amp & Zoom does it for you, then the simple adage is: 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

  • i tried both the vt30 and the vypyr30 yesterday. and like you said, the vt30, tone-wise, is hands down the clear winner... it gave me no option but to buy it :)... i just wish it has an autowah instead of the other effects that i think no one would ever use. vyper has an autowah and a tuner.

  • Hi Jake - told you didn't I! The vypyr has more bells & whistles but sounds tinny in comparison. You can always add an external effect such as an autowah - but you can't add good tone when it's not there! Enjoy your new VT30. Best, Rich

  • hey Rich, this is my second day tweaking, experimenting and playing my new vt30 and you know what I found a p/u setting on my new ibanez electric guitar (w/c i bought with the vt30) which approximates an acoustic guitar tone (using boutique cl setting). im truly enjoying this amp. thanks.

  • Cool Jake - glad you're enjoying it! I wouldn't mind a little VT30 myself as a compact light weight all-in one amp for smaller rehearsals - it would really save me carrying gear! Rich

  • Another concern of mine is that these two amps doesnt offer any acoustic guitar simulation. a feature that I really need for type of music Im playing. I currently use a solid state amp and a zoom effects. Do you have a setting on vox that will probably get near the sound of an acoustic guitar?. thanks

  • No - if you want that feature you need an amp that provides it, or you need an external accoustic simulator effect.

  • thanks mate. I'll get back on you next week and tell you which of the amp I decided to buy. Right now im still leaning towards the Vox...

  • Yes, you can. See page 22 of the manual, headed Effects, for a table of the effect choices available. Chorus & delay, compressor & chorus, and octave & chorus are the three dual effects. Other single effects are delay, tape echo, chorus, flanger, phaser, rotary, tremolo, and pitch. The global reverb can be selected with any of these.

  • Yes, the attenuator works very well with good tone.

  • Great Video!!

  • Thanks EH, glad you liked it & appreciate you looking in.

  • Damn design8r, I was hoping no one would notice they were listening to my Laney VC30-210 instead of the Vox VT30. No wonder it sounded so good! LOL. Seriously, you're most definitely hearing the VT30! For the 2nd vid I moved the amp nearer the camera so I could lower the volume a little for improved sound quality-it's out of picture as it was on a cabinet to the left next to my AD120VTX that you can just see to the left of the Laney. You also can't see my Marshall under the Laney extn cab.

  • Actually, the main reason for the amp move was that during the first vid, my VC30-210 was with Laney for a guarantee repair (the input jacks had gone) so I could put the VT30 on the Laney extn cab. In the 2nd vid my repaired Laney was returned (thank you Laney!) and back in its place - so I took the opportunity to put the VT30 on the book cabinet I mentioned.

  • again a great demo of the amps most of us would want to use or have in our arsenal thanks VM

  • Thanks gykoftl - appreciate you looking in.

  • really good taste like the other vid

    your videos are great !

    cheers!

  • Hi faunoram - glad you enjoyed it & thank you for looking in.

  • I hope to do some more vids before the end of the year with the new Vox Night Train and the Vox AC4TVH and 1x12 cab. Might also do some more better quality vids with my AD120VTX (EQ/BBE Sonic Stomp in FX loop) including cleans & effects. No more VT30 vids I'm afraid, as it was only a loan & sadly I had to give it back.

  • Got It !! Thanks a lot.

  • is it possible without the banked sounds to go from distorted to a clean sound?

  • Hi danny - yes - using guitar volume roll off. See me doing this in my jazzfunk rockout vid.

  • For Get Back by the Beatles. I should have added

  • THAT amp, and THAT guitar = VERSATILITY

  • Thanks! Great Video. I was thinking of buying one of these amps. You have convinced me. In the second solo where you play in the open position. What are the chords you use.

  • Thanks roland - glad you enjoyed it. The two chords in the middle of the solo are just open G & D. Rich

  • Am I mistaken, or do I see a Cinema 4D box on your book shelf?

  • You're mistaken - I've never heard of cinema 4D I'm afraid.

  • Great review Voxman..and you look like if you are enjoying yourself. A great thing to see on this "youtube-robots" era. I will be buying the Amp within the next few days. your review has been very helpful and insightful. thanks Keep doing what You are Doing.

  • Nice demo, I have a VOX vt-50, great amps, much better sounding than the Line6.

Just to be picky, by the time the Beatles recorded Get Back they were using Silver face Fender Twins...........

    Cheers

  • I know Zorda - it's just an amp demo.

  • Thanks for the review. I am about to sell my old AD15VT and for either the new VT15 and VT30. I am not playing in a band or anything (just playing at home mostly), but I was wondering if the VT30 really has much over the VT15? Both have the switch on the back to turn down the volume now correct? Because that wasn't present in the last AD15VT models, only the AD30VT or above.

  • Hi SOF - the VT30 has more volume, more clean headroom, & a bigger 10" speaker. Personally, I wouldn't get less than the VT30.

  • Hey Voxman, I really like the sound of this amp, but will it be loud enough for gigs?

    Thanks

    Tom

  • Hi Freeptom - Depends on how loud you play, size of venue, & whether you're miking up to the PA. If you play fairly loud and are not miking up, the VT50 will likely suit you better - plus it has a 12" speaker as compared to 10" in the VT30. If you are not a loud band, play small venues and/or mike up, the VT30 has the advantage of smaller size, less weight, and a brighter tone from the 10" speaker.

  • Thanks Voxman! Great help and awesome videos!

  • Dude. I purchased a VT50 a couple months ago and have found the amp to be way more than I ever anticipated. I spend hours experimenting with all the settings and have yet to settle on more than three settings I use with regularity. It would be a big help to know some exact settings for specific sounds, especially created by members. You really need to update your website to include some VT series setups from your members.

  • Hi Teegee - yup, these are very versatile amps with a wealth of tonal possibilities. The update to include VT patches is in hand, but there are some technical issues to resolve. In the meantime, have a look on the official Vox discussion forum where I think Vox has a patch section for the VT.

  • wow great video dude!! I never see your video before I just saw another demo of the VT30 and I purchased one! And this, confirm that the VT30 is a really great amp ;-) And I love your playing this is important on the vid amp demo I think :)

  • Hi ImMike - thanks for looking in and the kind comments. Hope you're enjoying the VT30.

  • Thanks for the fantastic demo. This amp seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. However, just one thing. I know you're not a metal player, but how would you rate the metal sounds?

  • Oh, and one more thing. Would I be any better off getting the VT50?

  • Thanks Chaza - I think the high gain amp models are very good, but they are not uber high gain, so don't expect driving low-end uber-metal - especially with a small 8" or 10" speaker. Rich

  • Thanks. I'm not really a metal player myself, but sometimes it's fun to stick the gain all the way up and let off some steam :P

  • Excellent demo. At which position was your pickup selector on the PRS?

  • Thanks Jeff - various, depending on the track, but I can't specifically recall I'm afraid.

  • hi mate, how will that amp go with my les paul? also what are the song presets on these new vt's? cheers mate..

  • Hi fretbender - it will sound great with a LP or any guitar. You can load down the Vox manual from the Vox website for a list of the song pre-sets. Most are very good but it depends on your guitar & fingers as always!

  • thanks for the info mate il take a look..

  • Hey man ! Your help has been very good for me! I am going to buy this amp but i am struggling with myself with one question.. Can I use the VT30 to practice in my bedroom with a capable volume and good sound ?

    Thanks !!

  • Hi Teh Tiba - yup, easily - it's ideal for bedroom use - first it has a headphone socket, and second you can turn the power-selector at the back down. I've got the big AD120VTX with an AD212 extn cab, & I can even turn that right down to 1watt for late night practice! Rich

  • NICE MAN !!! Thanks a LOT !

Now I will buy this amp for sure!

    Thank you really much Voxman!

  • Nice playing, it sounds really good. This may sound generic and narrow minded but can this amp do heavy metal stuff like Pantera, Late Dream Theater etc.?

  • The VT100 has an FX loop & 2x12 speakers - with an EQ in the FX loop to enhance bass response, most definitely yes. The VT50 with a single 12" speaker but no FX loop - maybe. But the VT15/30 only have 8" & 10" speakers respectively, & IMHO you'll struggle to get those very bass heavy driven tones simply because of the speaker and cab size limitations. Dream Theatre & Pantera use full size stacks - regardless of modelling quality you can't emulate that driving bass with a single small speaker.

  • thanks a lot man

  • I've been looking for an amp and I think the 2 demos you did sold me on this. Will the VT50 be loud enough to hear over drums? And has anyone used a Tube Screamer with this amp?

  • cool demo. i'm looking for a small combo and considering this amp

  • Hi tonemeister, thanks for dropping in. You could do a lot worse than the VT30 - try one & see how you get on!

  • Rock on Voxman! Love your demos, thanks for doing these :)

  • Hey! your videos were very helpful and helped me decide to buy this amp.
