  • Traction control does not make up for a diff lock at all. TC brakes a spinning wheel , therefore slowing/stopping the power to this spinning wheel, allowing power to the other wheel on the axle.i.e. only one wheel really working on this axle. A diff lock does just that. It locks the diff so equal power goes to both wheels regardless of traction , so the whole axle is live and kickin'.

    Does this LR Defenders system do something different ? Let us know. Nice fourby tho!!

  • @76003006 No it doesn't. It just cuts the power when it senses a wheel spinning.

  • @CochiTravels No the offroad TC in the defender is as 76003006 described it, normal TC on an older/cheap saloon car works as you describe.

    Whilst I agree TC is not as good as a set of lockers, 1 advantage is that you maintain steering control, where's as a fully locked or even just rear locked truck has a tendency to push forward. But then it's down to the driver to know when you use them.
