  • For proof that the "Fair Tax" aka National Sales Tax Inclusive aka NASTI would raise the taxes of those making from about $15k to $150k a year while greatly lowering the taxes of most who make from around $150k up, one only needs to read and understand pages 30 on of one of fairtaxorg's own "research" at tinyurl 593htl. Pay particular attention to table 13-- this is how they claim the middleclass is better off under FT/NASTI, by them FALLING INTO POVERTY LEVEL every few years (see years 7-8).

  • 12FlyMe, BullshipDetector, MarkDouglas, are among numerous aliases for the same person. He simply cannot grasp common facts & common sense. Henceforth, the Fair Tax is simply over his head. Once enacted though, he'll thank us for it. Try to ignore his childish, vulgar tirades. Don't go to him if you want to have a civil, intellectually honest, debate; he simply isn't capable.

  • Fairtax died -- because its such bullshit, their own leaders avoid hearings about it.

Fairtax is pretend crap -- and they KNOW it. Fairtax gets at least half its money from this goofy shit of taxing the government. That's right -- the lying bastards fine print is all about taxing the government.

So every city, every state, every gov agency has to pay huge taxes. Where the FUCK are they going to get that money dumb ass?

Fairtax knows its nonsense, that's why it died. RIP BS.

  • Do you really fucking think the federal government can be the biggest taxpayer on fucking earth -- by paying taxes to itself?

Read Fairtax Book page 148 "The federal government ITSELF will become a MAJOR taxpayer"

Here is a clue dumb ass -- if this bullshit plan worked like Fairtax pretends -- we wouldnt fucking need people to pay ANY taxes.

Do you see any fucking thing fishy about that, you dumb ass.

Fairtax knows their own plan is bullsshit.

    Google Fairtax absurdity, learn.

  • I did read the FT Book -- four times, and have the second book.

Funny how the first Fairtax book brags that "Fairtax makes the federal government become a MAJOR taxpayer".

City, county, and state governments have to- pay this huge sales tax too.

In fact, Fairtax math is based on over a trillion in taxes FROM the government.

But then the second book -- which was going to answer critics -- never dared touch this subject.

    Why?

Because that's their bullshit, and they know it.

  • Real math by real economists have shown a national sales tax -- to replace all other taxes -- is possible.

PRoblem is, the rate would be 60% -- or higher. That came from the Joint Commission on Taxation, a study done at request of President Bush.

But Fairtax claims it would only be 23% --- how? Because Fairtax lies to dumb ass people and tell them they can put a huge sales tax on the government, and get money that way.

That's just one of their lies. Its a bunch of crap.

  • Fairtax didn't happen, and wont. It wont because its own leaders know its a farce, that its bullship. They know the government cant really pay itself a trillion dollars in sales taxes, and count it as income. They know cancer patients can't pay 50K in sales taxes on their surgery and chemo. They know it - they distorted this crap on purpose. They aren't about to pass it. They just want to fool the gullible.

  • The Fairtax is the best thing that could ever happen to this country.

  • denimblueindigo, Diskatopia is such a spammer. Most people don't even read his shit because it's spam, but what he types is actually utter bullshit. Diskatopia has not read the official FairTax books and he probably hasn't read the rebuttal page on the official website. He cuts and pasts information found on Anti-Republican hate sites.

Youtube is reacting well, just mark him as the spam that he is.

  • Today they pay income tax on their money before they are able to spend it on rent and medical care.

  • They get a prebate under the fair tax. They also don't have social security or FICA withheld from their paycheck under the fair tax.

The landlord would not pay tax on his rental income. Nor would he pay tax on any expenses required for maintaining the rental property. Because this would true for all landlords, competition will push rent prices lower. If the couple is saving for a first house, they pay no tax on any of that savings.

  • And no, Mr. Huckabee, removing just compliance (2.4-4% of retail costs by "Fair" Tax supporters' own numbers) and Corporate Income Taxes (2.5-3% of retail costs) cannot remove 22% of retail costs.

If Huckabee's davisors don't explain this to him soon-- well, he will be a "fish in a barrel" for opponents.

  • Notice that the Huckaliar doesn't allow comments on his youtube about the IRS disappearing? That's because it doesn't disappear, and he knows it. He cut the comments off after his ringers sent in their goofy "yea Huckaliar, you're a genius" comments.

  • The "fair" tax is just one more Huckalie.

    1. it does not get rid of IRS, it just renames it

    2. the new IRS will be in everyone's lives, making sure they do their new jobs as tax collectors

    3. the rate is not 23%, it is more like 33%. then add the state sales tax and state income tax and fed excise taxes. the true rate is over 50%

    4. it does not get rid of the income tax. we will end up with both

the UNfair Tax, supported by Hucklechumps everywhere

  • 1. Agree. 2. Disagree. The new IRS will be in business's lives, but not Joe Consumer's life. 3. FairTax is only about federal taxes. You fault it for not replacing all state taxes as well? 4. Disagree. It abolishes the income tax.

  • Let me explain how this cannot gain new taxes from "pimps"(lol) unless prices go up, for those who still don't get it:

Let's say Pimpy McPimp now spends 50,000 a year on living expenses that would be taxed under NST. If prices don't go up with the "inclusive" NST, Pimpy doesn't spend more-- he spends the 50k still, and in fact he gets a "prebate."

So not only does he not pay any more-- he gets money back, for a NET GAIN for pimps.

If prices don't rise, this is a "Pimp Windfall"...

  • Baloney he doesn't pay more. Right now, the only way the government gets their federal taxes is through wages and year end tax returns. I doubt Pimpy does his income taxes and he sure doesn't pay into federal taxes when he makes a deal for crack.

  • He doesn't pay any more unless prices go up-- you are only renaming what he already pays.

See, supporters can't have their cake and eat it too-- if you consider prices as having "embedded taxes" now, then Pimpy already pays now what he will pay under an NST, unless prices rise.

If you don't see this, try to think it through again.

  • Dude...your brain doesn't work. Yes, he still spends $50K, but now 23% of that goes to taxes, where before he was paying squat. This plan is clearly too complicated for you, go back to loving the IRS.

  • So, you are abandoning the FT/NRST idea that there are "embedded taxes" in everything we buy? Answer carefully, and think it through, and you will see where you have been duped by pushers of this idiotic national sales tax.

Start with this-- he spends $50k now... he spends the same $50k then for the same items (no price increase under FT according to supporters, they say "embedded taxes" disappear.

Think, and stop falling for tricks paid for by the millionaire backers of this farce.

  • If you don't support the Fair Tax, you are most likely either part of a big money washington interest group or just simply don't understand Fair Tax. It was created by lead economists from Harvard and Standford. Go to fairtax(DOT)org to learn more.

  • Prebate will take care of it? are you nuts? FIrst, you need a house -- a car. The added cost on 150k house would be an EXTRA 75K. Your prebate wont touch that, it will be a joke. This is without question the most absurd math-stupid, logic-free plan Ive ever heard from anyone that could tie their shoe.

  • Here is a question Huck -- are you insane? The Fair tax would add 50% cost to everything - houses, cars, medical cost. Not just 23. So you are going to send out checks of 700 to familes? Where are you going to get the trillions to do that Huck? Magic? And they would pay 150,000 for a 100,000 home. They would pay 30,000 for a 20,000 car. They will pay 30,000 for a 20,000 knee operation Huck

This plan doesnt even slow down at stupid. It goes right to insane.

  • Where are you getting this 50% figure from? Don't you understand that if you bring home the extra money in your paycheck that it will offset any price increases? Essentially the poorer you are, the less you are taxed because you cannot afford to buy the luxury items. And the money back in the form of a pre-bate will offset your necessity items.

  • Im getting the 50 percent from math. The 23 percent was wildly optimistic - but lets us that. That 23 was based on replacing INCOME tax only -- now somehow this Fair tax has morphed to FICA, estate, cap gains tax too. So you have to add that to the 23- and its double. Add state sales tax to that. Actually it would even go higher -- as it collapsed in absurdity -- as sales decreased, you would have to increase the rate. Its lunacy.

  • so in other words Mark you pulled 50% out of your ass. Why do other countries that have the fairtax not pay 50% ?

  • No other country on earth has this idiot tax. The 23% figure was to replace income tax only. Now, that 23 is somehow enough to ALSO cover FICA and cap gains and inheritance tax. So it cant be 23%. It has to be 50 or more. And thats on medical cosst --no country on earth taxes medical cost. THis idiot tax would. NO country on earth has its military pay high sales tax. This idiot tax would. Find me any country with this idiot tax and I will eat my lap top

  • Why wouldn't the 23% be enough to cover everything. Now you'll have 12 million immigrants paying taxes, you'll have millions of pimps and drug dealers and prostitutes paying taxes. That's a lot of people paying taxes that haven't in the past.

  • Not unless prices go up.

The "immigrants" and "pimps and drug dealers and prostitutes" already purchase items, correct?

So if an illegal spends 5K a year now and prices don't rise under an inclusive NST, he spends $5k then.

All this "pimps" will pay BS is just renaming the alleged "embedded tax costs" they pay now as "inclusive sales tax." They will not pay more unless prices go up-- and then WE ALL PAY MORE.

  • You would not be bringing home any extra money-- the main calculations by the main econmists supporting this National Sales Tax are based on the assumption that your employer would keep the amounts they currently remove from your check for FIT and FICA.

  • I think you're looking at the figures wrong. Right now, you have to pay about 7.165% of your check to FICA, and your employer has to match that 7.165% and send it all in. So yes, you are correct that they would keep their part but they wouldn't withhold and keep your part, that would be illegal if the FairTax were passed.

  • No, in the calculations used to support the faIR TAX, the SUPPORTING economists assumed that the employer would keep it all-- this is how they arrive at the conclusion that prices will not go up much. If you think you will get to keep the current amounts removed from your paycheck for FIT and 1/2 of FICA, explain where the supposed "22-23% savings" are for manufacturers which would keep prices from ballooning.

Go look and see the numbers for yourself.

  • Employers really pay your FICA. The employer has to raise that money, and send it in, along with matching amount. My family is in printing business and FICA taxes are one of the biggest expenses.

But replace it with a sales tax? 23 isnt nearly enough. To replace all those taxes, PLUS the employer's share -- it would be 50% sales tax -- thats insane. I would cut FICA taxes by 50% on employer and employees, but make all income types pay it -- cap gains and hedge funds and dividends.

  • I know the myth -- I know the delusion. Here is where I get the 50%. It comes from math. 23% isnt nearly enough to replace income, social security taxes, inheritance tax, cap gains tax, corporate taxes, and the employers FICA share. Sorry, try to grasp this, 23% doesnt beging to cover it. The lunatic prebate -- which you think is magic - wouldnt begin to pay for a 50% sales tax on a house or medical operation. Get real.

  • FLORIDA Polls

    ~

  • I just watched "Freedom to Fascism" on Youtube, and all I can say is, wow. If you're undecided about who to vote for, it'll definitely help you make the right choice.

    Go Huck!

  • huckforprez08 you are a paid shill for Paul !

Freedom to Fascism is nothing but crackpot conspiracy theory.

See Ron Paul + Russo on Youtube, it will prove just what a whacko nutjob Ron Paul reall is!

  • Lol I urge 80lu and anyone else ignorant of how fairtax works to really look into it, seriously.

  • cost of 1 dollar loaf of bread $1.38

    cost of 10 video $13.80

cost of 100 dollar nikes $138.00

just think of adding more than 1/3 to the price of everything you buy.

  • the huckletax... it's a way to hide the fact that they are raising your taxes.

    $100 cost

    $ 30 huckletax

    $130 cost + unfair tax

    $ 8 state & local sales tax

$138 total of cost plus nat'l and state and local sales tax

    do you think that's fair?

  • This guy is getting it. Plus, the huck tax would have to be much more than 23 -- or even30. It would have to be at least 50% sales tax, to replace all the taxes we pay, plus the FICA taxes business pays, plus corp taxes.

Huck is lying to the dumb people of America.

  • these lanos comments are crapola. don't believe these folks who say it is a 23% tax. that is not true. A tax of at least 30 percent is added to the cost of the item you buy. Then, after they add the tax, they figure out the percentage again and tell you it's only 23%.

no one calculates that way, except a fraudster trying to hide the true tax rate.

  • For the record, anyone reading my comments about the fair tax here should know that I don't support Huckabee fully because his religious viewa and literal belief in the bible scares me. However, I'm smart enough to know that the Fair Tax is bigger than any religion and I just may put my vote on Huckabee if only to educate more ppl on the Fair Tax.

  • whose payroll are you on? the whole reason to change the tax system is to RAISE TAXES. Why else go to the huge expense and aggravation to change it at all?

europeeins have this. they pay much higher taxes.

  • This guy is right. And Europeans pay income AND __ AND __ AND sales tax. Learn some history, some facts, and learn some math. If you morons go for the HUCK tax, you will find out how idiotic this is --and who will you blame?

  • So basically you put the entire country on welfare basing the amount of money they get on the number of kids they have...

So regardless of whether or not I work, the government will give me 700+$/month if I have 5 kids?

Anyone who has been in the military or a gov't job know federal pay systems are ALWAYS jacked up!

What happens when Joe Blow has a business and collects "Taxes" and then doesn't pay the governemnt?

  • I imagine the same thing that happens when Joe Blow collects and doesn't pay his taxes now. The difference now is that he can't use the 3k loop holes to get away with it legaly.

  • Explain how it is better to pay a 30% tax on all of your necessities? That's right, 30%. Not 23%.

    $100 price of purchase

    $ 30 tax (30%)

    $130 total cost to you

$30 is 23% of the total of $130. Why is that fair? and why is it being called a 23% tax?

  • You math is wrong. It's a 23% inclusive tax. First you have take away all the embeded taxes which lowers the cost of goods from the factory to the shelf.

After that You would grab something off the shelf with $100 price tag on it. Take it to the counter and pay only $100. The tax is included in the price of the item. The same way gas tax is included in the price of gas.

  • $77 price of purchase

    $23 tax (23%)

    $100 total cost to you

But once again, even if the tax rate is higher, you didn't acutualy have to buy the product, did you? Under the current system, as much as 35% is taken out of your check before you ever see your check.

  • looks like huckabee has this fair taxs thing figured out now it dont look so scarey to people with a family.

  • Latest on the good preacher:

So what kind of values does Mike Huckabee teach his kids? His son was thrown out of Boy Scout camp, as a camp counselor, in 1998 for catching a stray dog, hanging it, slitting it's throat and then throwing rocks at it. Real nice.

  • I think this plan would promote saving and investing. You would not be taxed on saving money, like we currently are, you would have more realized income and your money would go further. therefore people would actually be able to put money in the bank.

Made in the USA would be a comparable price to other countries, promoting FAIR trade. this plan would generate jobs like no other plan. USA companies would be able to afford to move back to the good old USA.

  • Just think how much goods are taxed under the current code. 1st, the company that makes the product pays corporate taxes, and 7.25% of every persons salary, then they ship the goods, that company pays the same. then they store in a warehouse same taxes, then a store sells you the goods, same taxes.

  • I beleive the fair tax is the best plan for the USA. A compnay will not have to pay the 7.25% to social security nor will they pay the high taxes they do now. That will enable them to either lower prices or raise your income.

  • Read "The FairTax Book" By Neal Boortz for full understanding of the facts and why this is a great idea.

While it's true that economic growth would be faster under the FairTax than under the current code, most tax reform proposals would result in more economic growth. What sets the FairTax apart from the rest of the tax reform proposals is its impact on international trade and investment. The FairTax would make the U.S. one of the best places in the world for business investment.

  • You're dead on. Imagine all of the large corporations and jobs that will pour into the U.S. on the basis of paying no taxes here when they pay as much 40% on every dollar they make in every other country. And imagine calling to pay your cable bill and the person on the phone dosen't work for a cheap Indian Call Center. Labor costs will drop and you'll actualy be able to get a decent entry level job in this country again.

  • You know what I just noticed is the majority of dumbasses are Ron Paul supporters.

ONce again showing us their unique brand of stupid.

  • I wonder how many of you opinionated asswipes actually read (HR 25, S 1025).

*Enables workers to keep their entire paycheck

*Enables retirees to keep their entire pension

*Reimburses the tax on purchases of basic necessities

*Allows American products to compete fairly

*Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy

*Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding

*Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation

    *Abolishes the IRS

  • How about a 10% flat tax that sounds fair.

  • Yes, if you make it on ALL income and do not exempt dividends and capital gains.

  • 1. Working poor person - earns $30,000 a year - works paycheck to paycheck - spends it all on necessities - has 0% to invest tax-free under FairTax.

    2. Middle class person - earns $70,000 a year - spends 80 percent on necessities - has 20% to invest tax-free under FairTax.

    3. Rich person - earns $10,000,000 a year - spends 5 percent on necessities - has 95% to invest tax-free under FairTax.

  • How is this fair? The rich will continue to get rich and the poor and middle class will still only be able to get by.

  • I though income tax took the hardest hit on the poor, I mean if you got ten bucks and you lose one you are screwed alot more than losing ten out of a hundred

  • How many "poor" do you know who pay income tax? In fact many of them get "refunds" even thought they do not pay any tax!

  • We need to demand that "fair tax" proponents define INCOME. They plan to tax wages, salaries and CD interest. They plan to exempt dividends and capital gains. They will create a base of no-income and low-income people to keep them in power and guess who will be paying ALL the tax? Working, middle class America! The super rich will pay little or no tax while in a position to take what services they want. The low income class will be given a free ride to keep them in tow.

  • It seems the rich, both liberals and conservatives, are really pushing a new tax system. Has anyone wondered why? Out of the goodness of their hearts, of course.

  • Are you an idiot? The Fair Tax system eliminates taxes on wages, salaries, and CD interest! That's the point! It's not an income tax at all, and certainly does not favor the rich.

It's the liberals who want to keep taxing income so that they can continue to fund all the unconstitutional programs we've got, such as federal funding for public education and social security income.

  • You know, I shouldn't have called you an idiot. I just got worked up. Sorry.

  • I understand. Gullible people like you are running around everywhere.

  • and that is how you repay decency?

  • MariAnKenobi apologizes to you and you fling an insult back to her ?

  • Get real. Do you actually believe these people? The tax reform movement is pushed by people attempting to favor the rich. Wait until they achieve it and then look me in the eye and tell me who the idiot is.

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you. I actually feel better now. We all know that you are a huckie plant. We also are beginning to see what kind of people are attracted to him.

  • ROFL A Fair tax? Do the math. Middle class 2 earner income $80,000 x .23 = $18,400. The kid rebate is only $145 each. The only people your tax is fair to is the government, not the people.

  • Once again. You are not taxed on 23% of your total income. You are taxed on what you spend above poverty level. So you can spend about $20k per year tax free. And after that, YOU DECIDE exactly what you actualy need to spend and pay in taxes. The Fair Tax does not decide for you the way the current system does.

  • Im a 37 year old single male. And am waiting to have kids. Why are people in my position punished for being more responsible and waiting to have children. When less responsible people are encourged to breed to benefit there income. this makes no sense.

  • right on!! have you seen "Idiocracy"? it's hilarious and scary all at the same time... scary because its true

  • The Founding Fathers realized that "the power to tax is the power to destroy," which is why they did not give the federal government the power to impose an income tax. Needless to say, the Founders would be horrified to know that Americans today give more than a third of their income to the federal government. i say no fairtax or irs

  • This is exactly why you should support the FairTax. It is not an income tax, which is unconstitutional. Mike Huckabee wants to do away with the IRS. Haven't you done any research at all?

  • and Americans are so easily fooled...

"Please Mr. President, I am tired of paying income taxes. Can't you help?"

"Yes I can citizen, I will abolish income taxes and replace them with an equivalent sales tax."

    "Oh heavens, thank you!!!"

  • The more I hear about the "Fair Tax", the less I like it. If you can't afford to have children, DO NOT put the financial burden on the rest of us. There is nothing fair about that tax law to me.

  • I think you need to hear more then. At what point does the Fair tax put other ppl's tax burden on you? Every person gets a monthly prebate check of roughly $500. YoEveryone just gets it. It's not based on how many kids you have.

  • Sorry Typo, I meant to type "roughly $200". And every legal citizen gets it. Man, Woman and child.

  • what a bunch of garbage!! because you have children, the government will provide you $725/month??? so that doesn't sound so "FAIR" for people who choose not to have children, does it?

  • Sure it does. More people=larger pre-bate. What's unfair about that? Study the plan fully and you'll be sold (unless you work for the IRS or H&R Block, but even if you do, you'll be fine once the economy cranks)

  • actually you are correct. I admit it. I did research it more fully after leaving that comment and I like it. I really like that it collects taxes from everybody, even illegals. and its simple as hell. that said, I like Ron Paul's plan better (cut spending, no taxes) but I'm sure this would be a good transition program... as long as the tax rate declines over time. 23% now, 10% in 5 years, 1% in 10 years type of thing

  • Yea it does Jackass... It's for 5 kids!!!

Obviously you don't have kids or you would know how expensive it can be.

I'm seventeen and I have everything paid for me, food, clothes, school activities, GAS!!, etc... Probably averaging about $350 a month

SO IMAGINE THAT FOR 5 KIDS!!!!

I doubt that $725 even covers the cost unless the kids only eat 2 meals a day...

  • my bad... i didn't see ur next post... sry dude

  • well, my next post doesn't excuse your absurd position. your argument is exactly why i posted my first comment. do you honestly think that people who don't have kids should give some of their money to people with kids??? how about people take responsibility for their own decisions in life???

  • In case you didn't understand the point of this, the 725 is to cover the taxes that you would have paid on those food items. Not to pay for the food. This is not a form of welfare, it is to allow all to cover the taxes on the food that they should purchase. For those who know how to shop well, they would be able to save some of that money.

  • that money is to aid, not to completely cover.

  • well, i'm sorry to disagree, but it is welfare. it is specifically designed to redistribute wealth from the rich to the poor, that is welfare. The problem is these programs always sound good but turn out bad.

couldn't this program create an incentive to have kids and then not take care of them??? don't be so naive to think people wouldn't do that.

  • I would LOVE to have the IRS and the lobbyists off our backs for once and for all!

  • Me too I can't wait to see the look on their sorry little faces when we hand them their pink slips!!!!

  • I really like the Fair Tax idea. The more I hear, the more I like Mike.

  • Read the book by Boortz and Linder and you'll be sold for life.

  • Go MIke! You are the best candidate!

  • Just think - no more IRS - no more all that paper & ever changing tax laws that even the IRS no longer understands.

    Go Mike...

  • Thank God Someone is still Talking about the best tax system!!!The Democrats will no longer be able to conrol our lives and keep poor people dependant on government!!!

Go Mike Go!!! Hopefully Our Next President!!!!

  • This comment does nothing for constructive debate. Try again when you have something worthwhile to say.

  • A non-partisan economic group devoted to fiscal conservatism was so appalled by Huckabee's record that they started the web site "taxhikemike dot org". If you have been suckered into Huckabee's claims that he is a "fiscal conservative" who "cut taxes 90 times", please go to this website and educate yourself.

  • Taxes shouldnt penalize high income earners. Everyone should pay the same %. If you make 10,000 - you pay 2,300 in tax. If you make 500,000 - pay 115,000 in tax. That's fair tax. No deductions - No IRS !

  • I agree. And Fair Tax makes illegal immigrants pay taxes. and they don't get prebate checks because they aren't legal.

  • I would like a tax system that doesn't penalize high income earners. You know when something is taken from you...you have that gut feeling of hatred...but when you have the extra money and you are able to give it to someone or an organization that needs it...your gut is filled with butterflies.

  • brainards1, now that's a Ron Paul supporter if I ever heard one. we have a responsibility to help those less fortunate ourselves, not expect the government to do it for us.

  • Hi Swansoch...you have it right. I am for this FairTax (consumption tax) because it allows Americans to save more of their money. My family makes $200,000 plus each year and we pay more our fair share in taxes. *continued

  • Someone making $200,000 pays 23%($60,000) minus prebate($3900)=$56,100. Thats a lot bigger percentage than my negative%. Im just glad the FairTax won't give the rich the tax loopholes that screw us now, since they'll spend their money.

  • This is interesting, but I still do not fully understand how it will effect my family? Is there a website that we can enter our personal info and receive a summary of how this plan will work for our family?

  • Therefore they try to make the people who are providing the tax (the hard working Americans) seem like bad people. However, because we live in a great country it is good to see that you have access to Internet. Internet is something that only the wealthy have in other countries.

  • The reason I ask is because most of the government subsidized people are against the fair tax, and speak bad about wealthy people as they feel they are entitled to some of the wealthy peoples money. This is called the entitlement mentality and is extremely dangerous. In America you can make money as long as you work hard. Often the subsidized people know in their hearts that they are making more doing nothing then if they were to go out and work hard. To Be Continued

  • Kopf1988...I think you need to get more informed on the Fair Tax. What you are talking about is a flat tax. The Fair Tax is based on consumption and still has a poverty limit built into it. at 20,000 you are in the poverty level and would likely get your basic necessities without any tax at all. Are you currently on any government subsidized programs? To Be Continued

  • FairTax is a bad idea. Imagine you make $200,000 per year. You are saying that the person who makes $20,000 per year (me) should pay the same percent in taxes as you. Screw that. You should pay more in taxes because why the hell do you need $158,000 a year when I'd only have $15800. The rich get richer. The current tax system is designed so that poor people like me can't get over-taken advantage of by you rich folk.

  • rich people make jobs which gives money to you. pooping on rich people will come back to haunt you. + why should you punish someone for being rich. is it bad to be rich. one thing everybody needs to understand is that when one person is taxed we all are eventually taxed.

  • actually, if you made $20k per year, you'd pay almost _nothing_ in taxes, because your prebate check would cover almost all of the tax you'd pay at the register when you make purchases.

  • i find it strange that you get to decide how much a person who makes 200000 a year "needs". how would the fair tax allow rich people to take over poor people? it helps everyone the same by giving same prebates up to poverty level. and if you spend less than poverty level you actually make money. how is this taking advantage of the poor?

  • He is just repeating Socialist Democrat's talking points designed to keep him in a frame of mind that will prevent him from embracing the awsome potentials of capitalism. Keeping the poor poor and ignorant allows the dems to have a voting base.

  • I was skeptical at first, too. I make 12,000 a year and I pay 18% tax on my income or $2160. Under the fairtax I would pay 23%(3,600)minus prebate($3900)= -100. So I actually make $100 a year because my income is less than the poverty level(thats in addition to my gov't subsidy).

  • @gtg105h: I hope you are spending my money wisely... I work hard for it.

  • But what you have to keep in mind here is that you will not be paying 23% of your income under the "Fair Tax". The beauty of the system is that you don't have to spend the money. You can buy used, or save your money. The tax only has to be paid on a product once. After that, it can change hands tax free.

  • That's totally Stupid!!! Paying the same % in tax is the only fair way to tax!!! Why should you or anyone else punish success??

The Democrats want to keep you poor and dependant on their handouts at the expense of people who work their butts off!!!!

  • All Corporate Media ! Never again will the freedom of the press be construed to let those that would, use that freedom to undermine our nation.
