Sections 218 and 219 of the criminal code DO deal with 'hate speech provisions' criminally. Alas, Section 220 allows for some 'defences' in basically what can amount to 'hate speech' (in other words, you can use 'religious beliefs' as a defence to WHY you were hating on that group you were hating on). This is about supporting religious person's RIGHT TO HATE.
This is the path to open bigotry, plain and simple. People should not have the 'right' to marginalize GROUPS, and we need to communicate that better. We all need to treat each person as an Individual, so Section 13 helps in that regard.
Of course nobody refutes Brian Storseth's statement that anyone charged has been denied a speedy trial, legal aid to have a lawyer, or get recompensed for legal fees, time lost from work even if they win a case with the HRC. Until the Lemire case, show me where any white Christian and not wealthy has won ? I am offended daily by the media and what others say, but do you think the HRC will take my complaints for my hurt feelings? For the hatred towards my kind ?
Francoise Boivin (NDP) rambled on and did not say anything worthwhile, Irwin Cotler (Lib) and Charman Borg (NDP) 's words both show they are leftists. Borg is anti-American too it sounds like. They keep talking about the CHRC vs Taylor case. Yes, the case where they threw an old man in jail, when all he did was speak thetruth ,and then the Commisson said "truth is no defence", which is why Sec 13 is wrong. ALL it IS about,is not hurting someone's feelings!
All freedom loving Canadians should give a big thank you to the man that has been fighting this oppressive legislation for the past 8 years. His name is Marc Lemire and he might not be the first to try and scrap section 13 of the Canadian Human "Rights" Act but he will most likely be the one that succeeds.
