OH, and, according to Consumer Reports, you dont have to spent a ton of money for a home gym. They suggest a set of weights, a balance ball, resistance bands, and a mat. Thats all you need, and these videos are proof of that!
I love these sparkpeople videos! It has been horrible weather here the past 2 weeks, air is nice and chewy. :( So I have been doing the spark people videos for my cardio workout. It has been wonderful! I look forward to exercising now! And that has never happened before!
I did day one and two together and I am sweating and panting and loving myself I feel good I'm trying to lose 8 inches from around my waist and I already lost one doing her exercise since the 5th of Jan thanks so much.
if your looking for a ball please dont spend you money at walmart, trust me i would know. when i first got it the tip of the pump broke off and then 2 weeks later there was hole in it, just to let you know..
it's probably bad on on the knees but I just used a basket ball. (lol?) Anyway, even though I'm a guy I've taken a liking to this workout plan. I'll be at the next video tomorrow.
I think the exercises can be done without a ball. The ball is to make balancing easier and to make sure you keep your back up straight. You would have to take very good care to hold your back up straight. For balance you could hold on lightly to a sturdy cupboard or desk (nothing that would fall down!).
there are a lot of fitness videos by this user on youtube. If you look at them you'll probably find something that works without a ball.
yes, when I started doing lunges and squat in physiotherapy, i was taught next to a wall, railing, couch, or chair would work well too. Just make sure you keep your back upright parallel to the wall, then your thighs are parallel to the floor, the more you bend your back, you take away from the leg.
The more you push into your heels, the more you will feel it in your thighs. I do squats and lunges twice a week at the gym, and they are two of the best exercises out there!! Keep it up everyone!!
I don't have a ball yet but still did the exercises using the wall as a brace. Those last stretches my dd wanted to participate so I made her my ball! lol
This was a great SHORT warmup workout! I'm so glad I had the ball and the dumbbells. I'm not sure how it would have gone without them. Now I'm on to my stair stepping and aerobics workout!
I'm sure you can just do regular squats. You can substitute isolated squats (put one leg to the side and squat down) for the one-legged ones. You can pulse down instead of pulsing your free leg up like in the video. The ball in this is really used for balance and form.
I didn't have one until two weeks ago either and I was a bit hesitant to buy another bulky fitness prop. But it was definitely worth the cost especially if you have these videos to go with it. The ball makes all the bootcamp workouts a lot more effective and comfortable and you can work out as much as you want: 10 minutes if you don't feel like much or 30 mintues (couple of videos in a row) if you're getting ambitious. I really think it's worth the investment.
@amyouten Not necessarily, but they're designed to give you rest days between muscle groups.

I can't find any back videos, do you have some that concentrates only on the back? If not, do you have some videos that are good for the back?

@tiramisupoopcake You know, we don't. But thanks for the idea. I'll add it to the list.

Great workout. I do plenty of biking and I always take stairs, even if it's 4 flights of them, but I really feel this one in my thighs and glutes.

I don't have a ball, or a wall to use (I know that sounds strange but I live in japan, my whole apartment is one room)

yeah, I left my ball at my house--I'm at my mom's house so I just did it without the ball and it worked fine for me!
good luck everyone!

good stretch - I didn't have a ball either - just a small one - so I'm going to do it again, but all exercises worked great w/o the ball
