@Pono421 lookup if the motor and esc can handle the 4cell first, if they are made for only up to 3cells they will most likely burn out. You would have to swap the motor and esc for something better. KV depends on fan size. a 70mm fan EDF usually runs between 2,500 and 3,500kv(sometimes more or less, but this is average)... a 60mm edf usually is between 3,500 and 5,000 kv,
@tenrazo215 Well it is all in your mind. You just have to know where the plane is going, and know what controls will bring it back to you. It takes a while to learn it, but once you do, you can bring a plane so far away you can just see a dot in the sky, then bring it back safely.
@WarhawkLegend69 a simulator is a great way to learn without crashing planes. But for a first plane, something like the Supercub LP from Hobbyzone or if you want something smaller, the Parkzone micro J3Cub or Hobbyzone Champ are great choices.
That fan unit seems to really suck back the power, low voltage cut-off at 3 mins? Was your battery in good shape? Great flyer though, I think for an F-16, e-flite is the way to go too. Might have to get one of those. Wonder how long the f-15 will stay airborne.
@Ispintechno1 the batteries used in this video were 1300mAh and 1600mAh, they won't last that long on high throttle, 3mins is about what I expected. I got some 2200mAh batteries to fit and with them I get about 5mins.
The F-15 uses the exact same setup, but two motors and two ESC's... however, it also uses TWO batteries, stock batteries are 2200mAh. So I would assume about 5mins. I may try some larger batteries too after I fly it with stock setup.
@E744763Productions Thanks! It is fast! I was using 1300mAh and 1600mAh batteries though, and I kept deadsticking at like 3mins! I got a 2200mAh to fit now by cutting just a bit of plastic from the canopy, so now I get around 5mins at 75% to 100% throttle!
WOW i cant even begin to say how much of a difference there is between BH and E flite

i have 2 3900kv motors with 2 55mm edf's. the motors can take 3cells, but if i run 2 of them together on 1 4cell lipo, do you think they can take it?
Pono421 1 year ago
@Pono421 depends on motor, and esc. but if they made for 3s you would probably burn them out with 4s.

how do i test a 3cell edf on a 4cell setup without burning up the motor or esc?..... whats a good kv 2run on a 4cell lipo edf?.....

@earthling1984 5mins with a 2200 is totally reasonable in an EDF. Very nice!

It seems to glide infinitely better than the cheaper ones

Nice plane, obviously flies well. So far anything under Horizon Hobby's parent umbrella I have been happy with (parkzone, e-flite, hanger 9, etc).
