Secondly, the Communist Manifesto claims that liberal democracy is an impossibility and autocracy as a necessity (the "dictatorship of the proletariat"). @PennySnap Actually if yanks had actually allowed free elections in Cuba by stopping support of Batista I think that cubans would have voted Castro to power democratic way. Most of cubans other than rich elite actually wanted him.

In communism, government gets even more out of control since they own all the resources. In a pure capitalist, no government system we wouldn't have a debt crisis, corruption or any of that garbage we have today. Government really is unnecessary anyway, the private sector can do anything government can, except better & without extorting peoples money with taxes.

@Pvjinflight Big government bureaucrats tend to suck the money from the private sector into their pockets, then give the pocket change to the poor. Government also protects monopoly by heavily regulating the market. You know, in California you have to wait up to 16 months to start a business because you need government approval? No small businessman can afford that nonsense. Which means less competition in the market place and more labor out of work.

I think 90% of America needs to read the Communist Party Manifesto and other works by Karl Marx. Marx wanted DEMOCRACY but never left blueprint for how to run a Communist state. This is why you get lunatics like Stalin and Castro because they took Communism under their own interpretations. Communism isn't killing people, it's about getting rid of all which creates inequality. The people freeing themselves. BTW the U.S. SOCIALIST PARTY achieved the highest 3rd party vote in history (1912) ! FURB!

@tbtab15 There should be no dictatorship in Communism so again, Communist Party Manifesto, its only 45 pages long. There are no unfair wages, it isn't dictatorship of the proletariat its enriching the proletariat, the true source of profit which is being exploited. It simply doesn't deny them the riches they deserve for working for the good of their country, and this is them getting something back. It barely affects the middle classes bar private property and inheritance because of INEQUALITY!

@tbtab15 I have read it many times mon frere. But its not a dictatorship of any kind, real Communism has no state. Communism has yet to be implemented properly. Not poor either, China will soon over take the U.S it just doesn't distribute its wealth equally. But if they did think of the wealth. Oh another thing, Socialism and Communism are different. Quite different as it goes. And I never said I was a Communist, it's possible I have knowledge of this for other reasons (like a PhD in History)

@rollmop7 first of all educational claims over the internet are entirerly irrelevent, and it only hurts your arguement, but china has what they call sez's which are special economic zones where free markets are implemented like hong kong these place have increased the quality of life exponentially for people living in them. They are different ideologies but they get their with the same methods and have the similar goals.

Castro is probably the least bad dictator, he has at least given his people amazing healthcare and education, kicked out Batista and prevented US corporations from stealing their resources and really has not killed much innocent people when compared to any US president for example.
Yes Cuba has some political prisoners, but at least they are not shot like in so called democracy Russia.

Communism is about the wholesale abolition of private property. Leninism, Stalinism etc were all children of Marxism. He believed his theories were scientific and above criticism; he was right and all who opposed him were wrong. Sound familiar? Read up on Leszek Kolakowski. He demonstrates the futility of reform communism. He correctly identifies that communism can never be reformed because Marx absolved himself of criticism, thus rendering it inflexible and resistant to change.

Theodore Roosevelt ran on the Progressive/Bull Moose party ticket in 1912, and this was the last time a major party candidate (Republican William Howard Taft) came in as low as 3rd in a Presidential election. But TR was NO SOCIALIST, make no mistake. In fact, if he lived today, the media would chastize him as being a right-wing extremist!

@rollmop7 First, that's not true, about 1912. Roosevelt's Progressives has that record (Debs came in fourth). Secondly, the Communist Manifesto claims that liberal democracy is an impossibility and autocracy as a necessity (the "dictatorship of the proletariat"). I honestly don't understand how you can forego this. Thirdly; Castro is not a Communist. He belonged to a nationalist group, the Partido Ortodoxo, but eventually oriented himself towards the Soviet Bloc because of political realities.

@rollmop7 Every single source accessible clearly states the order of precedence in the presidential election of 1912 as this: the Wilson ticket (the Democratic Party), the Roosevelt ticket (the Progressive Party), the Taft ticket (the Republican party), etc. That Roosevelt once was a Republican is irrelevant. Lincoln was once a Whig, Reagan a Democrat. Under your definition, true Marxism has never been practiced, and never will be, so don't promote death and destruction in the name of it.

I honestly believe Marx would be appalled at the Soviets and China and North Korea and numerous other countries for the slaughter of innocent millions. No Marxism hasn't been implemented properly but who's to say it can't be? Yes Reagan was once a Democrat, but unlike TR his views changed. The quality of life has only improved in nations like China, Vietnam and Mongolia where free market reforms have lead to better living standards.
