@TheFreshCereal I'm in england so I don't know about best buy but most professionals can do this for you. As for the prices, they vary. In england, a 4GB RAM Card costs around £15 and 8GB around £30. Hope I helped :)
P.S. If you're not sure just ask one of the staff at best buy to help
@CardCrazyChad I believe that you can just install to one slot but generally it is advisable to use both slots as there are likely to be fewer problems
I can't find a video on here...but then again I don't know much about it. Can you please talk about how to upgrade the cache? Is it a part of the CPU? If so, then I would actually be upgrading the CPU wouldn't I? If anyone can help please let me know. Thanks.
I'm thinking about buying a laptop from Best Buy and it says 3MB of L3 cache. Some of them just say 3MB of cache so I don't know if it is L1, L2, or L3. I saw one laptop that had 6MB of cache but it didn't say if it was L1/L2/L3...etc. A lot of times they have the operating system, RAM, and CPU listed but they don't list anything else. I want to be able to upgrade later on but I don't know much. For example, I saw 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM & 4GB of DDR3 RAM...which is better? I don't know.
@andyrooney12 Well with ram, more is better assuming they are the same speed. You're not listing the RAM speed, so you're probably better off with 8GB, if you need it. DOn't worry about the cache so much.
Can you check up on the Gateway NV55C laptop? Thats the one i got. It has a Base Score of 3.9.
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU P6100 @ 2.00GHz
memory(RAM): 3.00GB
Graphics: Intel(R) HD Graphics
Gaming Graphics: 1275 MB Total available graphics memory
Primary Hard Disck: (TOTAL)320GB (FREE) 249 GB
Is there anyting i need to upgrade to get peak performance, smooth gameplay, and Crystal clear graphics? I tend to run call of duty black ops on this... HELP!
@razor005 You need to remove the heatsink, and put a new one in. It often requires disassembling most of the computer. I don't recommend replacing the processor on a laptop, since the cooling system is designed for a specific CPU.
I like to use both an ESD mat and a ESD wristband just to make sure. The ESD wristband is actually more important because you yourself are not balanced in terms of ESD and there is still a chance of damaging components.
Did you know that over 95% of all ESD induced failures are latent? IOW the failure occurs sometime after maintenance when heat or physical stress results in a partially burnt out run that finally gives up and causes the failure. It's not uncommon to meet people with lots of crashy computers who proclaim that they've never had a problem with ESD.
i cant say i have ever seen a laptop with the RAM on opposite sides of the mobo, i have only seen them next to each other or stacked together, mostly under an access panel on the bottom, with the exception of my 12" laptop where they are under the palm rest (they are next to each other)
once i upgraded ram on my dell d620 and i put the new ram in and tried to start it and it was stuck int he loading screen "windows Loading" when you 1st start the pc, but the problem ended up being my HDD which got fucked up when i put the laptop into hibernation, never use hibernation it will fuck your HDD up
I agree. I think it's best not to even bother with the hibernation feature. It simply takes up too much space on your hard drive. I have my hibernation feature disabled.
if i have a 2 gb ram can i uppgrade it to 4 gb and then play wow on it ? please respond

@WTFkidsGAMEPLAY IT depends. You need to check the specs to see if your motherboard will support that much memory.

@andyrooney12 You can't upgrade the cache alone. It's part of the CPU.
sciguy14 10 months ago
@andyrooney12 Hard Drives also have their own cache.
