  • is that video not showing the views for anyone else?

  • HEY I KNOW WHERE THAT IS :D that's uhh near bar harbor in acadia park i think. thats like a huge thunder gyser thing where the water splashes!! haha sweet footage

  • How can 7D recoard 240 fps?

  • @Rudde47 it is done on the computer after. originally it was captured 720p 60fps i believe

  • i have this camera and i dont know how to rase the frame rate. help.

  • The 240 speed was accomplished with post processing? I'm just trying to figure out the highest speed you can capture video with the 7d, regardless of quality.

  • what editing system did you use for this? I have a nikon coolpix p100 that shoots 240fps but i want a video editing system that i can edit the clips

  • Marvelosa!

  • Have you tried the Black Pro Mist filters to reduce or prevent aliasing?

  • I guess the next big thing is to create a camera that has 2 lens attached and make 3D home videos. That would be awesome.

  • Panasonic is planning to release 3D cameras like that this year, but they're probably going to be really expensive and I don't know if they're going to be geared towards home movies and consumer use.

  • There is no need for that. There is an equipment out there that sits between your 3D Compatable TV (Mitsubishi 60737) and your regular blue ray player that would convert all regular DVDs to 3D movies. I have seen this demoed. Its amazing.

  • show me

  • @Citabria007 what exactly is it, and where have you seen it? you are not talking about CharismaTV, are you?

  • No..I saw it at this vendor called "Modia home theater" in dallas. TX

google for it and then simply call them. I am sure there could give the specifics of the box.

They told me it costs $1500 when I went to buy my Mitsubishi 60737 HDTV for $999. They demoed it for me. Cause the Mistsubish same size TV without 3D capability costs $200 less. I bout this just for the 3D hoping the 3D equipment would fall in price.

  • Hey all,

    i have a problem,

i just bought a 7d, and i love it! but, it only shoots 50p, not 60p, but its ok and i cant find a way to make smooth slow mo. i have FCE 4.0.1, and i've tried to download twixtor plugins, but they dont work (it says twixtor failed to render). is there a way i can make decent slow motion? when i slow it down using the 'speed' setting, it jerks and becomes unsmooth. and i dont want to use frame blending because it doesnt look good.

i'd appreciate any help at all.

    thanks

  • @mimisico0417

Do you have After effects? You will only get really good slow motion with twixtor (there are a couple other plugins too cant think of them at the moment) but they work best in AE, you would not want to use twixtor inside any NLE due to the slow render speed

  • @mimisico0417

7D will shoot 60p if you switch it to NTSC mode.

  • i can get after effects from my mate.

So Twixtor will work best in After Effects?

though, i;ve read about people who dont use any processing, they just slow it down on a timeline. do you know anything about that?

    thanks for your help

  • It shoots 50 fps in PAL mode and 60 FPS (59.7) in NTSC mode. You can set this in the settings menu.

    Hope this helps.

  • mimi try to change the camera settings to NTSC if you need to boost the frame rate to 60p. However if you live in a PAL country keep it to 50p

  • Im going from 60fps to 24fps and getting some choppyness, do you know how to fix this?

  • Only 50fps? Set it from PAL to NTSC format, should do the trick...

  • @mimisico0417 The best post slo-mo that I have seen is achieved with FCP 7 by going into Motion. The quality is fantastic, although the processing times can be quite high.

  • @mimisico0417 i just ran across this and thought i might let you know a little secret. in fcp(not sure if fce has it) if you add coloring smoothing from the key effects menu it helps smooth out slow motion very well.

for good slow motion in fce try using a color smoothing filter under the key effects menu.

  • @mimisico0417 maybe next time you should learn about a camera before you buy it dumbass

  • @007Fortis yeah because buying a camera means you have to know everything about it before you buy it yeah? LOL DUMBASS LOL

  • @soneeqboom yea dipshit, at least ask someone at a camera store about it or read up about it. YOU FUCKING DUMBASS PIECE OF SHIT!

  • @007Fortis yeah cause when u go to a camera store you ask them all about every single features and maybe they even have a back room where u can have private tutoring before you buy the cam or better yet u can buy one of the shop assistants with the camera so every time you get stuck u have a solver right next to u HAHAHAHA most of the camera shop assistants just know the basics rookie like ur argument....just the basics LOL DUMBASS!!!

  • @soneeqboom Yea maybe you mother fucker.. and actually some camera stores do have lessons where you can learn. are you from the fucking desert or something where they sell stolen goods you fuck head!

  • @007Fortis can i take the shop assistant to the desert also to help me shoot some cactus? LOL nooooo wayyyy r u serious...camera shops actually have places to have lessonsss....wow that's something new ohhh DURRRRRR LOL and why would they sell stolen goods in the desert....that's kinda weird....who'd wanna meet in the desert seriously to sell stolen goods unless its a stolen camel LOL

  • @soneeqboom Well who knows, terrorists like you (Soneeqboom) like to steal shit and take it apart and make bombs. you fuckers can't be trusted.

  • @007Fortis nice call dude...does it come in good? HAHAHAHAHAHA from cameras to terrorist LOL should tell them how to go from 60p to 24p and slow mo the bomb yeah dude KEwLLLLLL HAHAHAHA

  • @soneeqboom BAHAHAHHAHAHAH MUHAHAHAHHAHAHA HAHAHAHNBNNBHAHHHDGHDHGHDSD

get your moms huge cock out of your ass before you start talking mother fucker

  • @007Fortis looks like you ran out of things to say huh lol u should go continue licking ur dads pussy then HAHAHAHAHAHA checkmate LOL

  • @soneeqboom hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahah! who the fuck says check mate after attempting to chirp someone! get off the internet and get out side you fucking loser! HAHAHAHAHHHAHA!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @007Fortis check mate...hook, line and sinker HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA stop crying you little girl LOL u should go chirp ur mate in the butt HAHAHAHAHAAHA Hey mate why don't u go build a camera so u know how to use it idiot....everybody knows if u wanna know how to use it u have to build it HAHAHAHAHAHAHA i dont have to get off the internet to go outside...its called wireless internet...gotcha HAHAHAHAHHAHAA

  • @mimisico0417 Put your 7D in NTSC mode, not PAL

Then it will shoot in 60 fps ;)

  • Hi all,

Of course, you know that the 7D can never capture at 240fps, instead the maximum is 720p at 50 or 60 fps, it's too good for a camera below $10K already - this clip was just interpolated by Twixter (google for what it is!) - the faster shutter speed will bring better imaging after interpolation, known by all videographers!

Pls do not focus on odd things, this clip is a great one! TFS

  • quanvantruong -your right :-)

  • does the G9 not do the sane

  • Can anyone tell me if the 7D (or the 5D) uses 8 or 10 bits quantization ? What about the compression ? Is it MJPG200 or AVCHD ? Can you output HDSDI ?

    Thank you

  • 8 bit, compression is h.264 at 54-57mb. You can record the HDMI output, but it is not full 1080p resolution. Image reocrded by canon 7D and 5d is taken from binned pixels from the sensor meaning the image has artifacts such as moire and aliasing. In other ways the image is more pleasant than what you would get out of a Sony EX series cam

  • Lets clear this up. The 7D shoots 720/60p max. The frames were interpolated out to 240fps with twixtor. This video was shot with one of the slower shutter speeds, so if I showed the waves crashing, you would have seen a weird blur. Because of this, I limited it to just waves in the ocean. Shutter speed is related because when you interpolate down to slower speeds a faster shutter will preserve more frame detail. In a cinematic sense, a motion picture camera would shoot at an equivalent of 1/500

  • (continued) for a scene shot at 240fps to maintain a 180 degree shutter angle which would give the same motion blur as 1/50 (1/48 in actuality). Additionally this scene was upconverted to 1080p and then downsampled again after going through a color correction process that helps remove the jagged edges.

  • Hey do you know were i can find some good information on when and why you need to upconvert and when to downsample and how?

  • I understand, thank you for clearing up. I already admitted i was wrong about 1080p/60, and wasnt thinking clear when i used 1/30shutter as an example. I have so huge problems communicating in english. I also said emulate instead of interpolate again; language barrier. My whole guess was essentially the more you stretch a movie (specially without interpolation) the more time you get to look at each frame. So if it has motion blur its much easier to notice. I have no problem being wrong either :)

  • Your trying to tear apart everything i say. In your email you tried to explain that the camera will never do 240fps no matter shutterspeed. This is clear evidence that you have no idea what I meant in the firstplace. Ive allways said EMULATING , with SOFTWARE from 60p/ to 240p, and that faster shutters help because each image is sharper. Ive made TWO mistakes. Linkin 1/30shutter to 60p (you are right its impossible) and 1080p/60 was also wrong. But everything else is right and not nonsens

  • My mistake saying 60p and 1/30, I was angry because you cant see the point. This is a small thing. 1/30 is just an example compared to 1/400. You are right about this point. That doenst mean you are right about everything else. I know Im right

  • You dont loose light but you need an extra flashlight? That makes sence. So the flashlight is not for compensating for the loss of light? Smart comment..

  • bunkofurko;

Please let this be final. To sum this up:

If you want fast moving stuff to look as sharp as possible you need a fast shutterspeed aswell as framerate. Be it 1/30 or 1/60 or 1/1000 or whatever, the faster the shutter the faster each image is and that means more for the realviz timer to work with. Faster shutter DOES mean that you have less light to work with in each frame (less exposure time=less light) I NEVER implied the 7D does 240P, and ive explained over and over.

  • I mean realviz retimer offcourse. Attacking me for grammars or writing mistakes has nothing to do with the issue

  • When you dont even understand that faster shutterspeed means less motion blur and also less light to the sensor, you really should not speak so loud.

  • Emulating 60p to 240p is what ive been talking about all along. 1/30 was an example, not in 60p but in general. 1/30 gives much more motion blur than 1/400

  • About emulating 60p; ts just my bad english. Im talking about emulating 60p to 240p. Read my freaking original comment wich started this whole thing

  • The faster the shutter speed, the less light reaches the sensor

  • You are right about 720p/60 But not much else.

The faster the shutter speed is for each frame, the sharper each image becomes. 1/30 I dont think each frame is very sharp at all. 1/400 was just a guess. Emulating frames is much more complex than just duplicating a set number of frames in the timeline. It takes an avarages of frame 1 and 2 and makes "1.5" instead of just making 1-1-2-2-3-3 it makes 1-1.5-2-2.5-3-3.5-.

  • Im sorry I cant explain better because Im not good at technical english. Im norwegian

  • bunkofurko, read my reply again and you will see i said you were right about 720p/60. This was my only mistake. If you dont understand the concept of each frame being sharper with faster shutter, its not my problem.

  • hey, how can I do this with final cut?

  • Wait, the 7D does 240 FPS? How'd you manage that?

  • I suspect he shot at 1080P/60 wich 7D can do, and each frame had a fast shuttersetting like 1/400 or more. Then each of the 60fps comes out really sharp and its easy to "emulate" 240FPS with the right software without loss of quality

  • that's right on

  • I just bought my 5D mk2, so I wont be buying the 7D for a while. But it has some impressive specs for its price tag. Im only hoping the 5D will be firmware upgraded to 24p like 7D has. It means canon are good listeners

  • Btw, in what format do you edit the footage from the canons? I use premiere pro cs4, I have a powerful i7 quadcore with 6 gigs of ram and I can forget about playing the MOV's without stutter. I convert to cineform before editing

  • premiere works well with cineform, as does vegas. for the 7D at 23.98 I'm going to use it with Avid Media Composer because the footage is compatible and I like the DNxHD codec.

  • Very impressive, may i ask what program was used... looks very cool.

  • after effects + twixtor

  • hey thats thunder hole in acadia national park! i just got back from there

  • yeah you could easily do 120fps from the 30p. with retimer or twixtor

  • o my God thats Gnarly!

  • I would say realviz retimer, I'm I right?

  • nice work - fantastic results.

Vegas or Premiere Pro? And the other tricks?
