Just finally bought all the rest of the Roth era CD's, only had Van Halen's first CD, but used to own all the original LP's. Don't even want any of the Hagar CD's... the last NEW VH music I bought prior to preordering the new one was OU812 on cassette and that was enough, just didn't care anymore. Hagar was the guy that did I Can't Drive 55 bullshit, the "red rocker" gay shit... sucked then sucked with VH. I don't blame Ed for wanting him out, making money off VH name then making Tequila etc.

If you listen to / watch any of the recent VH concert performances, you get more of an appreciation for Sammy Hagar. David Lee Roth simply can't sing as well, and at this age, his vocal talents are greatly diminished. He sounds more like a Vaudeville act, and the band now plays so loudly that all you get is distortion. They're MUCH better in this video.

i dont deny that Michael Anthony probly CAN play bass with brain waves! however in their records many of their basslines are layered with synth keyboards and either played live or with synced tracks, there can be spots where he don't have to play to be able to hear bassline. they embraced technology when other bands were afraid to do so and benefited from it.
I remember when MTV showed this, they used to play music. And I 'taped' it on VHS. I wore that tape out. I really thought Eddie was God. My mother told me not to blaspheme. Van Halen will ALWAYS be one of the biggest bands in the world...with Dave, Sammy, they were always hot......but when Cherone hooked up with them, VH was good....however, Cherone just didn't do anything like Dave or Sammy did for the band.

i dont deny that Michael Anthony probly CAN play bass with brain waves! however in their records many of their basslines are layered with synth keyboards and either played live or with synced tracks, there can be spots where he don't have to play to be able to hear bassline. they embraced technology when other bands were afraid to do so and benefited from it.

I remember when MTV showed this, they used to play music. And I 'taped' it on VHS. I wore that tape out. I really thought Eddie was God. My mother told me not to blaspheme. Then as I got older and picked up a guitar I discovered Clapton and I found out people thought he was God too. Its amazing what these guys did for seperate generations of guitarists.

ive never seen a band ever have as much fun onstage as Van Halen. i remember buying this dvd two or 3 years ago because my computer sucked and i never could see videos, i could just read things and i bought this dvd to see how good eddie was at guitar and i was so amazed when i watched the concert, i started getting back my ambition to play guitar because i almost quit and i saw this and havent quit playing guitar ever since. i read that eddie would play non stop as a teen so i did the same.

Way, way back in '90 or '91 I was at dollar drink night at the Marquee in Westminster, CA and he emerged from backstage to play a few VH hits with the generic metal cover band that played every Thursday (Heinekens for a buck, amazing). Couldn't believe it. And man he can really sing. Screw those two ego maniacs.

This dvd gets played once a week in my house its that dam gd. The solo (around 12 mins long lol) sends me off into a dream land more than any other solo av heard. To have that much fun and sund that gd is rare these days and makes me wondr how VH is such a mess at the mo :( Summer nights is just too good on this DVD, awesome concert :P

CAN YOU BELIEVE how much fun these guys are having onstage? My God!!! When I was a kid I had this "tape" and I would just listen to that man sing and marvel how ANYONE could sing like that...i just LOVED his voice. Then I got to see them at LAKEWOOD AMPHITHEATER in Atlanta in the 90s...what a show!!! I don't know if Van Halen got big outside of the America. Did they?

@mattnicsmom Yeah, and I'm a Sammy fan for sure. David Lee Roth's voice just doesn't compare to Sammy's, although there are quite a few people who are Roth fans who disagree. VH made the most money back in the 80's when Sammy was the lead singer and Michael Anthony did backup vocals. Without either of them in the band, they are not the VH I loved & remember. I think Eddy caused a lot of the drama and fall-out. The VH I'd want to see now does not exist.
