if the black people right next to all our asses can't take criticism to protect our ass or back off to prove they aint doing this to our ass they got no business being next to our asses. period.
There's more to music, to great bands, than bare-boned politics.
All power to Chumbawumba for right thinking and preserving great songs. There are several other leftist choirs in England too, (though they're not maybe Anarchists).
But music goes beyond language and words, and where words can often divide, music can bring strangers together.
I must agree. Maybe not the best band to introduce a five year old to (that's the age I was when I first heard Anarchy) but I wouldn't have it any other way
@meirasanya Not quite sure why it's unsafe to introduce a five year old to people who want everyone to live free and equal, with an end to all wars, starvation, poverty, the slavery of the 5-day drudge and the relentless brainwashing of commercialism, but there we are.
@bolloxinator It's more unsafe to introduce them to an album which includes songs like "I can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of sh*t". I actually grew up believing in the same things they do and still worship the ground they walk on, but at a young age I could swear like a sailor
@meirasanya Ah yep, good point. I wouldn't have wanted my kids to sing that "I can't hear you" song at 5 either. But regardless, they grow up in this town and they'll know and use those words way before they should,as we all did. Hopefully they won't need to use them in every sentence. Some people seem to. Pain causes it, I think.
