thats a 25hp with the 35 hp powerhead.. cant just hit the link on the carb to rev it out . the timing has to advance when you give it gas. if you would tryed to rev it up at your control box it would a reved
@mufflerbearin Negative, I did try to rev it at the box. didn't work. Like I said in other posts " this was caused by the air screw on the carb" I was adjsting it prior to the seafoam treatment and never adjusted it back. when I realized this I fixed the csrew and all was well. This is a 35 hp engine
the reason why it wont idle up is because you do short bursts.as a OMC specialist i would know this because when you sharply and quickly rev a lawn boy motor (based on marine design) they bog because its a sudden lean cond.if you hold that bitch wide open it will smoke like hell and after a few seconds it will rev up.briggs, lawnboy F,and weed whacker engines do this when you sea foam them.
you cant rev your engine with just the throttle arm period. You have to use fast idle to advance the timing. Btw, what is this? We have a 86 28 hp that refuses to work. it boggs under load. I have vids of it!
@Motorfordtoyota yeah it did the same thing when I used the fast idle and anytime I advanced the throttle. the problem was that I adjusted the air screw right before I did the seafoam and I never adjusted it back. once I put it back to normal position the motor ran fine.
@rwrw21 If the product was the cause Then You should Remove or edit the video Your giving a bad claim to a product people are questioning already so if it was ur fault you should notate that =]
I have a 1984 Johnson 35hp. It runs great. I got a bottle of sea foam and want to run it though it. How did you run it though? gas tank, carb, ?? Thanks
@Budnipper82 If your engine runs great don't bother with this stuff, however, If your gonna do it, run the engine and spray it in the carb until it starts to bog down. then shut the engine off and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes. fire it up and its probably gonna run exactly the same as it does now.. just remember, whatever breaks free from the carb could get lodged somewhere else down the line.
@rwrw21 man if it "break free" anything its shooting out the exhaust in the form of that white smoke, Seafoam is proven and has been around for many MANY years. the best fix for a backyard mechanic, or anyone who cares about their cars parts, anyone who doubt's seafoam is just checks gas gauge and doesn't know what a screwdriver looks like.
yeah ive spoke to many machanics and ive yet to be told it doesnt work used correctly...but they were talking cars with 150k of deposits....i see all kinds of cars doing it just to see smoke...i was told its really all not that great on the rings unless you put it in the gas....just something an older man told me...dries the rings out once you do let engine turn off...but thats just me....keep on SMOKIN
What actually happened here was that prior to the seafoam treatment I was adjusting the Idle screw on the carburator and walked away for a couple minutes, when I came back I never finished adjusting it. After a couple turns of the screw everything was fine.
or if i read the rest of the commets i would see the rest and.. well at least i was part right 9jet wasnt working like i should have lol)

seafoam knocked lose carbon and cloged your main jet, not piolt jet.

You should change your title and description so that it stops blaming Sea Foam. It wasn't the Sea Foam after all.

NEVER put something like this thru an engine if over ten years old since rebuild!

that sounds like there isn't enough fuel entering the engine. more air than fuel..
so.. ideias would be ... clean the carb with wd40 or carb cleaner... or simply re-tune it
you should change oil too... actually that's the most important thing one must do after seafoam
TheYTCable 2 months ago
2 strokes will last forever, with good fuel quality, good oil and common-sense.
4 stroke outboards = EXPENSIVE JUNK

this might be because you let it sit for 2 days rather than 15 minutes....

Put it new plugs, that's what I had to do after because it did it's job pulling off carbon, but fouled my plugs in the process.

@rwrw21 i was about to say that it isnt seafoams fault that you dont know how to adjust a carb, but you got it fixed so thumbs up.

you put just a lil too much man. just let it idle out for about 2 hours without touching it.
