@nomak stars are not billions of light years apart...closest star to our star is 2 light years away and sum are only 10-20 light years away. you should really re read what those scientists said.Second of all this is science fiction and if he really was travelling faster than speed of light he would be a time traveller:)
In some of the newer comic books he traveled from Earth to one of Jupiter's moons in under 5 minutes. That's faster than the speed of light. Don't quote me on that though, I vaguely remember reading this somewhere.
well in the movie its said he is 10 times faster than a speeding bullet. Obviously a comic book would exagerate on its facts like TehMurderer mentioned.
in the documentary scene in this movie, it says that superman was flying at the speed of light. i also recall that in the very first superman movie, he changed the rotation of the earth just by flying around it. Having said that, it's noteworthy what most astronomers said. Stars are billions of light year apart. That's why superman took 5 years to go to Krypton, even when traveling at the speed of light.
the people of Krypton know of earths existence? If is takes so long to travel that a new born can age 5 years whilst in suspended animation, how could cal el have been taught about Einstein, when logically he would have been as born 1,000 of years after his departure? In this one how could earth astronomers detect another planet on another galaxy?
I've lost most of my motivation to comment on these things because one can't help noticing the presence of shills... which one should have guessed, really, considering this is a free to the public internet forum, which is where shills are sent. Over at rottentomatoes it's understood that most of the forum comments are industry shills.
They got the casting all wrong. Brandon Routhe as superman and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor?!?! Why not just cast the olson twins or paris hilton and lindsay.
I like the homages to the original film: Superman first shows himself during the rescue of Lois Lane from an air mishap, the line about "statistically speaking," etc.
I love this scene, but i think everyone agrees this movie was terrible as far as action goes.

Is this "Jimmy Olson" the grown-up boy who played "Barry Guffey" in Close Encounters Of The Third Kind? I believe there is a resemblance.

"statistically speaking its still the savest way to travel" - the line by christopher reeve (the best superman)

Since Superman is from another galaxy, how did
the people of Krypton know of earths existence? If is takes so long to travel that a new born can age 5 years whilst in suspended animation, how could cal el have been taught about Einstein, when logically he would have been as born 1,000 of years after his departure? in the comic superman has flown between galaxies in hours, he can fly at the speed of plot.
also, krypton is in another galaxy yes, but i do believe he uses a shortcut of a blackhole/wormhole to get to the milky way faster.

Think about you stated. You said billions of light years.
What that means is, that it takes a billion years of someone traveling at the speed of light to get there.
Therefore no, it doesn't make any sense.
He would have to be traveling much faster then the speed of light.

I like homages too, but not an entire movie of it. This movie was boring, and that shouldn't be when the title is "superman"
