I hope you guys all know that the reason for the police escort is to provide needed security to the important people, like the royal family(as mentioned above), the president, the pope, prime minister, and the like. So far I have read immature comments by uninformed people who don't know what the hell they are talking about.

Yup, it was on One News last year. They decided that they had to get the long wheelbase versions (730L diesel) because apparently the shorter ones "could not fully accomodate larger members of Parliament".
