I was close to pull the trigger on a JPM3 in France but then I realized that the only difference between a JPM and a normal RG is: pickups, paint job, slightly different knobs position, the pickup toggle switch and the neck profile which is supposed to be like the Ultra neck profile.

I might still buy one in the future but for a guy like me who owns already 3 Ibanez, getting the Musicman JPM seems like a more unique choice :)

It's a bitch to find a JPM in good shape though

Lovely guitar, I've got a P4 myself. Was it hard to get used to the JPM, without the compensated nut like the EBMMs? The intonation on mine isnt that great, it always sounds out of tune somewhere no matter how I set it.

I'm hopefully getting a JP7 sometime soon too!

@estebitan1212 most important differences are: different pickups, piezo on the JP6 (if you chose that option) and body shape. The JP6 is supposed to be REALLY comfortable but I never had one in my hands.

To sum it up, the Ibanez was "adapted" to Petrucci whereas with the JP6, Petrucci was involved in the entire design process so it's a much more unique guitar. The Ibanez JPM isn't a huge difference from other Ibanez RG prestige series when it comes to build quality and body contour

@tadejsusta: there is no question about which one is better. I have both and they are awesome one on its own. The Jp6 is more pushing the sound is direct the Ibanez JPM P1 is more mid scoped more bass which is typical for Ibanez. From the playing I must say the MM JP6 is faster than the JPM P1 and feels more high end.
