While there are bad tracks and bad kennels, there are also good tracks and good kennels with owners who care about the dogs. To say just because this dog wiped out that the whole of greyhound racing is bad is completely misleading.

i use to help train cory park. sadly he had a bad fall in his next start. he lived on nothing to bad had a few more starts at northam but went out wide. not he lives happly in perth with ppl that love him .

i don't see whats wrong with casual greyhound racing. i had a greyhound and he raced, and LOVED IT! He never got injured and he lived a long life of about 14 years. we had to put him down because he became blind, not related to the racing at all. I'm not saying its good to race them, but it doesn't do any harm to them really.

Not only does greyhound racing result in crashes (leading to broken bones and sometime crushed skulls), but the industry itself sees greyhounds as disposable sources of income, and are more often than not euthanized by the thousands every year if they are not fast enough to be profitable.

@ImpendingWoods yes, we use other animals to SUSTAIN our exsistence. But in what way is greyhound racing needed for our human survival? If a human fell over in any type of accident, they would be rushed to the nearest hospital and professional medical personal would work their medical school career butts off to save him. Odds are, a racing greyhound owner won't. Because once it's hurt, that's it for the poor animal.

if the dogs enjoy it, and they do, and if you can make money from it then can you not see the reasoning, money rules this world, i know, im poor. but i enjoy seeing greyhounds race and course not for any financial reason, i just like seeing them do what they do best, the racing industry can be harsh and yet we still have it, the coursing scene is generally less savage as it is done by generally less wealthy people, and yet it is now banned. despite the lack of cruelty.

Greyhounds are walked daily, taken to the trial track twice a week and usually race once a week. They all love it. When they know they are going racing they go beserk with excitement.

My greyhound had a fall at the races and broke ribs and she wasn't destroyed. She didn't have the best life (loves the running though) as she didn't have the best owner, but a larger amount will be incinerated healthy if there was a ban. Rehoming centres are already full of dogs including greyhounds (where I got mine) and there wouldn't be room for any more. Banning racing would make it so much worse.
