@jay1996jayjay Mods improve games, simpleton. Look at Desert Combat 7.0 for 1942, or Point of Existence for BF Vietnam, First Strike for 2142, the numerous mods for oblivion. Mods enhance the game to make it feel more realistic or offer new ways to play the game. Now, as for mods that allow you to cheat, or a program that does all the aiming for you...those suck.

P.S. I know this post is a year old, but I can't stand idiots that don't know the difference between a mod and a hack.

How do you recover from a flat spin in the 1939 Spitfire?....the usual method of cutting power, stick forward opposite rudder to the spin did nothing.. had to hit the silk over the channel last mission

Google AllAircraftArcade and check out their cummulative mods. It includes a tweak that gives you 6 degrees of freedom with trackir.

O...M...G.....how do u do those pass by kills like when they fly right through your gun sights and u blow them away? every time I try to my cannons miss, the cannons fire so slow one round goes in front of the plane the other behind it and I miss like mad cept for a few MG rounds but thos dont amount to much

Well, nobody can land the shots every time. It takes lots of practice and a great deal of luck too. Those two kills just happened to be on a good run, but normally they space out a lot.

Well , it use infrared rays , and when you turn your head , it's not a full turn , but you slightly move your heads , and the displayed are moves too , but 2 or 3 times more than the ° you've turned from :P so , you can still look you're monitor , check on youtube , maybe you'll get it :P

Its a head tracking device so that when you move your head, in game the camera moves in that same direction.

For example, say your flying in a plane and you see a enemy off to your right, you move your head to the right maybe 1 or 2 inches, and in the game your head ends up moving 6 to 7 inches.

This simulation is several years old. It's without a doubt the most advanced WWII airsim that's ever hit the market.

It's one game + 3 expansions, but one of the expansions is a stand-alone version as well. You could start with that. Look for "PACIFIC FIGHTERS".

Mostly everybody has the whole thing installed.

Now I want to buy il2 sturmovik for pc, I know it is very old, but there are some games, expansions, add-ons ect. Lots of people still play today if you have HYPERLOBBY (google it).

They are mostly very hardcore players who play in maximum realism, but once in a while you can see a server with rookie settings like "no mandatory cockpit view" and/or "tags" for example.

Everybody who still plays today has all the games installed on top of each other as expansions.

I stand corrected. IL2 1946 is all you need. I wouldn't have known at the time I answered because I installed 1946 on top of all my other IL2 games rather than doing the standalone installation.

However, here's one mode worth checking out. For advanced users only!

Google AllAircraftArcade and check out their cummulative mods. They add a huge load of planes, great sounds that make you jump out of your chair when you get hit, new weapons and cockpits for previously AI-only aircraft.

This match was offline. Me and an ace wingman vs 8 aces and 8 vets with bf109s.

These are real maneuvers, not just plain luck. When I used to play, I could pull both kills constantly in online battles vs human opponents as well in full realism servers. Offline training keeps you sharp.

But this is not a video about skill, it's about Trackir's functionality. I wanted to demonstrate that without trackir, such kills/maneuvers would not be possible.

btw, nice low level stall there...in FW-190 that would have been your end. But most red pilots only have to do one thing: Pull your f***** stick back, thx to OLEG!!! No skill at all!

Yeah, a 190 would have been the end. It's a bomber hunter, not a low altitude fighter. For these low altitude fights, the zero (A6M) is my favorite.

But pulling the stick back is not the answer on a spitfire. You'll eat the dirt faster than you can scream, "oh shh!t!"

Thanks dude. For shooting straighter, try always using the same plane and play tons of offline matches vs large formations of unarmed DC3 bombers.

But don't just shoot them down. Aim for the engines. A couple of well-placed cannon shots should be enough to ignite them.

Practice diving at them from the top, it's the best attack. Be VERY gentle on the fire button. Pressing too hard will throw off your aim.

On rear attacks, watch your speed! Match that of your target and shoot!

Thanks! I don't fly in real life... and even if I did, there aren't that many pilots around who have actually shaken an enemy from their six o'clock. Microsoft Flight Simulator is an EXCELLENT product by the way. However, Microsoft "COMBAT" Flight Simulator is nothing bud a shadow of the IL2 series.

i personally dont like microsoft simulator because of the way the controlls are seperated. if you try to fly like you do on the microsoft simulator, you would be spending way to much time looking at your instruments than outside the cockpit and thats not very good flight behavior

There is a user-made patch you can find in some forums that allows you to use 6 DOF with trackir. That's 6 "degrees of freedom". By standard, you only have 4 DOF.

I don't remember where I got it from. I think it was the ALLAIRCRAFTARCADE website. Google it and inside the forum, search for 6 dof.

The acceleration and decelleration of allied planes (e.g Spits, P40's) tends to be higher then germans and makes it easier to get them to overshoot you

Thanks bud! The trick is to force the enemy to chase you at high speed on a turn. Then you cut the engine and he'll overshoot. At that point, turn the opposite way and basically land on him perpendicularly (if you miss his engine's weak spot, you'll probably kill the pilot anyway). You will most likely stall (like I did), so make sure you have enough altitude. Practice with aces and veterans and you'll be able to pull this maneouver over and over again, provided that your plane can turn faster.

That spitfire turns better than the BF109, but had I gone against a Zero, he'd have been able to out turn me and shot me before I even had a chance to place the sights on him. Zeros have an insane turn ratio and they're great at low speeds and low altitudes. So, if you have a spitfire or a BF109 against a zero, take the fight higher, and take advantage of your better climb and speed using zoom and boom attacks.

You can trim. I do it all the time for long flights and to keep formation. Just make sure you set keys to it in the control settings.
