What were the traditional rules about women handling such swords? Would they have even been allowed to touch them? I assume it was taboo prior to the end of WWII, but maybe someone can flesh it out for me.

@dbobarracus im not sure about swords but there were women samurai. they didnt have as much of a part in war but they were trained well to protect the home when there husban was gone to war. they trained with naginata to keep people at a distance and it would help with the hight disadvantage a woman may have.

you see each top executive at toyota, honda, mitsubishi, sony, etc. they all own these swords. it is a spiritual religious thing for them

how do they get such a small block to streach out to a long katana.

@firefox8192 watch vids, basicly by hamering it, when its yellow hot its almoust as plastic as cold play-doh. Of course to do it properly you need to train (but it's same as with any other hand work, you aren't born with it, you have to learn)
